I was thinking about a way to avoid the 2 fighting style system of one stance and one weapon style and this is what i came up with

Rather then have to swap stances on the fly which never did seem to work out in MKDA/MKD/MKA this is what i feel should be implemented

1-(If dial a combo is the case which i hope are not going to be a part of mk8) would work like so

combo a-b-c-d (combo finalized with weapon a+b )

2-(if combo strings are the case)

combo a-b (weapon used as launcher) juggle a-b-c (string ended by weapon a+b)

what do i mean by this well the weapons can still be implemented but not directly used as a stance

I'm thinking "practical" when it comes to weapons now. Use the arena, hang stuff on the walks that, during the action, we can run up the wall or something, and pick up a weapon.

There could also be a homage to how they've been brining them into the fights. Which would probably look like "magic". lp,lp,hp(weapon appears), hp, hp, lk(weapon disappears) lk, hk...or whatever.

Overall though, i think weapons, and special attacks should become more a part of the combos themselves. There's not a real reason mortal kombat needs to jeopardize stances for the sake of any one style of fighting....cuz they're all elements that have been explored by the developers anyway.

there's a couple ideas.

another thought is just cause a character has a certain style with another character, they don't have to use the same attack. Like in tekken bryan and bruce fight differently, have simaliar attacks but not all the attacks are the same nor the stratigy.

So you could have two characters with the same style but fight differently with them.

they shud make it like mk3 combos but make them easier to pull off cos i never liked mk3 because of the como system i never cud get on with pushing the same buttons for a 4 hit combo or what ever. make the combos like mk3 smothness but implemented like in mk2 where u cud punch em in the air then jump kick them then throw and spear (scorp) or chuck a fan at them mid air(kitana)

they shud also make the characters ony have one fighting style but include a weapon in there moves like scorpions axe in mk3 or jades staff so that they can have more moves than just punch and kick.

i thnk they shud maybe include some of there specials in combos too like freeze em (subby) in a mid combo to carry it on with power attacks.

please bring back bone breakers and make them stay broken and let them pull on there cloths to pull em closer for a grab or sumin. FOR FUCK SAKE MAKE THE SPECIAL EFFECT THE ENVIRONMENT!!!!! if you freeze the floor them have it stay frozen oor if you chuck a fireball then have it burn the floor or wall.
I think they need moves you hcan do off the wall to get out the corner like a jmpnig round house kick like liu kang dose in that fight scene in the movie

wow Thats a mouth full. Mk3 i thought had some nice combo's, especailly those juggles. I think they don't have those cause they're cheap. I do agree with having specials in the combo's or the weapons. I think more importantly you should be allowed to run at your opponet. It would be neat to see size play a role with runing, like heavey characters can charge at an opponet and deal more damage, small characters are grace fully and can manoever around the character easier.

the wall thing would be neat or the ceiling.

I think they should flesh out more on the fighting styles instead of having 13 moves per style.

My one disagreement with the fighting style system is that martial artists trained in various styles would probably mix and blend them together. They'd take the elements they like of art one, mix it with elements they like from another, and then another, and eventually they have a complete palette and unique fighting identity.

I think that's the route these new games should take. Scorpion, for example, is obviously trained in Hapkido and Pi Gua, but he would obviously use some Japanese arts. If these can somehow be mixed effectively, then I would be all for it.

As far as weapons go, I'm actually leaning towards each character being completely different in terms of whether or not they have one, and how simple it is to activate these weapons. For example, if Kenshi returns, he should definitely have his sword available to him as a weapon stance.

I'd keep the style change button, but alter it slightly, so it becomes more of an "approach change" button. For example, Kenshi would be able to switch between his martial arts, his weapon style and maybe an approach where he uses psychic powers more readily. A lot of people would disagree with this, but I would not mind it if Kenshi had a state where he didn't move, but could perform his special moves with the click of a single button. This makes the character seem unfair to play as, but if you managed to send a projectile his way, you'd have to change out to avoid it, or something.

Each character would probably have their own little tutorial section, because each one would several different modes, and each character would be so radically different.

I say Screw fighting Styles and Put every new character with a bunnch fighting moves. And That also including the weapon. Make Combos.
And Stop the L combos.
I also think their should be Blocks for Certain Attacks Blown at the other person Blocking.
Like a real fighter does.

This topic is useless and I'll tell you why.

Ed Boon as already stated that they are not having 2 fighting styles in MK8 and will be a complete new fighting engine.
