I have no idea why you guys are still debating over the Quan Chi thing, this game doesn't take place in between MK2 or MK3, I doubt boon would want TWO games to take place between those games. MKVSDC is non cannon. Also, Quan Chi was in his MKDA design in MKSM because the MK team was lazy, DUH! Come on people.

People can't get over what Ed said. It's weird...
And I wouldn't have wanted Quan's old design in MKSM. His new one rocks, old one sucks

I havnt been on in a few days, but with this whole discussion on Monster is really stupid. If you dont think he is Scorpion then go play Konquest again.
Fact 1: He was stoppin Shujinko from putting the last amulet thing down so Onaga cannot be freed.
Fact 2: Scorpion was the Elder Gods champion, so thats why he looked so different. And at E3 whenever it was presented there, Scorpions alternate was described by many as a silver look with a non flaming head and things sticking out of his back.
Lots of other common facts, had Scorpions move set, had a skull, dressed like a revised Scorpion
And the reason why he was called Monster is because Shujinko never saw him before and thats pretty much the name he gave to the new Scorpion.
Can someone seriously back me up on this?

Monster was originally going to be a "Champion of the Elder Gods" look for Scorpion but they eventually ditched that idea and relegated the concept to a minor character in the Konquest plotline. As for sharing Scorpion's moves, he isn't the first character to do that.

About Me
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yes sir, the check is in the mail."

But the bottom line is, in the final game, Monster and Scorpion are not the same character. But rather two champions of the Elder gods which existed in different periods.

This screen shot looks awful. Quan Chi looks weird. And those robots or whatever the heck they are suppose to be look like crap. Subs & Scorpion are floating on air? And what is with these last gen graphics. This looks just like a PS2 screen shot, not PS3/XBox unreal engine material. Why they used the in game models for the cut scenes I will never know. Would have looked 10 times better had they went the same rote they will no doubt go for the opening cinematic of the game.

You know, it costs money to make those high quality intro cutscenes.
Most gaming companies hire outside companies that work on CG movies, to make those types of cinematics. And by the looks of Midway's past few MK games, they hire outside help too. To have those kinds of cinematics for the story mode (which is supposed to last 4 hours), would be extremely expensive and inefficient, for a simple conversation.
EDIT: But I don't think the graphics should be judged by this screenshot. First of all, it's in a relatively low resolution. The characters are in a wide shot, so you can't examine the details on them as you would with a closeup, like with that Scorpion "Noooo!" screenshot. But all that aside, it's not even the finished product. You shouldn't judge a baby while it's still in the womb.

Naw, I missed out on a few updates in the past.
But you got my hopes up for nothing. I was like, "New image of Baraka! Kick ass!"

I'm pretty much he is talking to Sub-Zero. The way Subs body language is compared to Scorpions indicates something. And I think Quan Chi's head is toward Sub's too.

There's like two threads about it, and to be expected, an official News thread.
