Do you think MK vs. DC was meant to be a t-game or to have more younger kids play it?

I know what some of you would say that at the end of armaggeddon and blaze defeated the realms merged with others. But this is just about the game and would it draw more younger kids to play it, and some of you would probably say dude my 5 year old bro plays all of them.

I think it is also targeted to the younger audience.

Judging by the latest video we have seen, that was a very nice strategy.

Exactly.

For all of the people whining out there about the lack of gore, blood and what not, put yourselves in the shoes of Midway's CEO. Your company is in trouble, yet you have a million seller franchise that can save you from certain doom. The problem is, the franchise carries with it, a negative vibe from the soccer mom and dads of the world. What can you do to change this mindset and broaden your money earning potential?

A: Make a very gory and contoversial game that will still sell, yet not make enough cash to get you out of the financial jam you're in? You will please the niche market of fans you have but your company will face certain doom.

B: Make game wich retains many of the factors that made your franchise a success, but tone the violence down to broaden the audience who is able to play the game. At the same time, toning down the violence appeases the soccer moms and dad's allowing little Timmy to legally purchase the game.

I say B makes more sense financially if you're the CEO. Many of you are not looking at this as a potential to get the franchise out to more consumers, broadening it's appeal. There will be millions more players to face online and no more kids (under 17) sneaking behind their parents backs to buy the game illegally. You all know who you are.

Personally, I think it's the under 17 crowd who are the most upset. At it's core, the fighting mechanics of the game are the most important. If the game plays like shit, who cares if you can de-bone Kitana at the end of the match? This new game has better gameplay and has recieved more positive press than the last 3 MK games combined. The MK Team made the right choice.

A younger audience? Pretty much half of the MK fans aren't old enough to buy a Mature rated MK game, so how much younger can you get?

No, I think it was made with the intent to expand the base.

MK has had a younger fanbase since its first game. But, in seriousness, to a certain point it does.

I think that if anything this game will appeal to an older audience.

That's because most of the people who become interested in it due to the DC license will tend to be from an older demographic. Though to be honest, I'm not sure how good Midway or DC have been at marketing this game to those from the DC side. MK fans seem to know about the game, but I ask my friends who like DC characters and they don't even seem to be aware of the game. So at the end of the day, it seems, it's more of a game for MK fans than DC fans. Still, I think the average age of those that come from the DC side will be older than those that come from the MK side.

And as much as I hate to say this, the T rating might weed out the snot-nosed brats who won't play the game because it doesn't have fountains of blood. Getting rid of those kids will certainly make playing online a more enjoyable experience.

Having said that, I still wish it was an M rated game because even though I'm not a snot-nosed brat, I still love the over the top gore.

1 of 2 things imo.

1- Midway is suffering from financial losses, what better way to make more profit then to get a company, well know for it's comics and fan base to colab with.

2- Last year a girl died by her babysitters, which was headlined on this site awhile back. Again, targeting Midway and MK. I think midway wanted to go a little less Gory project this time, maybe to influence younger audiences that there is good in games, instead of always Killing. Which is why we got brutalities. That's just an opinion of course, none of which stands true to anything I said.

You guys are right but the game is still violent and to me one of the bloodiest T-rated games.

So we're pretty much selling out. What you posted was nothing but a long drawn out way to say that midway is selling out. Now they better be doing the two series idea and have a rated M MK series and then the kiddie MKVSDCU series. But you can't have a sixteen year old franchise and then go changing things and NOT expect to have fans mad. But I can't wait to hear what you have to say when this game FAILS in SELLS.

What are you bitching about it didn't change THAT much. There's still all our beloved MK characters. And the DC characters look all-right.

No i dont think MK vs DC was meant to be a "T" rated game! Its all the legal mumbo jumbo, that DC has and what they want and dont want to happen to there characters... as awesome as the game is looking, i think MK should have done it with someone more will to participate with how MK ACTUALLY runs things!
