Interviews Reveal New Tidbits Regarding MK vs. DC Universe!
A good point was made here... since when did MK have all serious and "dark" characters? Liu Kang maybe the atypical Chinese monk hero, but what about Johnny Cage? The entire Special Forces storyline? There are so many aspects of MK that are no less dark and frightening that anything Superman has done.

... Are you questioning the hardboiled legitimacy of the Special Forces pursuit of the Eye of Shitian?

Yeah, but to be fair, the series has always been based upon magic. Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn soul stealing, Raiden and Shinnok, Onaga and his undefeatable army, Kahn merging realms...I have doubts about adding genuine superheroes to the series, but it's not as if magic hasn't played a role in the series.
If they're smart, they'll continue from Shao Kahn's MKA ending where he merges all the realms, but at the same time, Darkseid is doing a similar thing and both universes are merged for a time.

NoOoo, the series has always been based on a Contest, fictional inspired Martial Arts, Mythos & Urban Legend, and alot of gratuitous violence and gore..
Magic, has always been an attribute in some of the characters' special moves//abilities. "Wizardry, Necromancy, Elemental, and Spiritual"...mainly. It usually takes a back-seat to all the other stuff going on with the game..usually. And while I'm here, I don't disagree with using a characters flaws against them. That's a specific case to Superman, and why he won't be able to just beat every body though.
BUT, Another merger? Even more magic? lol Come on that's.....that's silly man...
I'm looking at it like adding too much salt or sugar to a food. I mean, picture a kid, or better yet, take a professional chef taking a bag of your favorite seasoning....and in the most subtle way pouring more and more of it in to your favorite batch of cookies.
haha It'd looks weird as hell. lol Like; "What-are you doing?"

Gotta disagree ~Crow~. Not with the facts of the matter, but with the context of the statement.
Seems like in order to approve of this game, in order to "like it", people are needing to say to themselves; "Oh, well it already had stuff in it that I didn't like anyway, so I guess should go ahead and like what they're doing now"...
Convincing themselves away from their better judgment for the sake of this being an MK game, instead of just saying: "Fuuuck this. I don't like it, I don't want it.". lol This is the first time I've ever seen so many people speak in such a context about a game. All the famous slogans as of late. You know?
a.) "Get over it." // "Not gonna change anything by voicing that you don't like it, so don't say anything"
b.) "Oooh well, if you don't buy it, you're not a "true fan"."
c.) "The game had these shitty things in it already, so why not like this new shitty thing?"
hahaha..
As light-hearted as I am about the "situation"(if that's what I have to call it), that's the main part that gets me man. Is that instead of being excited about the thing right off, I didn't like it....and now, I HAVE to be convinced? lol Let's have a "kumbaya", so we can all come together and convince each other collectively that this is a good idea...That we're somehow supposed to like this games proposal.
Doesn't make sense to do that to myself over a video game. I'd rather just..... say "I don't like it" and voice my supporting reasons. And like I was saying, the main one is that I think it's pretty ridiculous to have to convince this kind of impulse. Especially when it's a pretty brainless impulse in the first place. Shouldn't have to think about my favorite game in that context, in order to buy or merely play it.
So, I simply take this approach: "Do I like what I'm seeing or not?"
and then: "Am I gonna buy it?"
and finally: "Will I even bother playing the thing?"
Answers end up being: No, I don't like what I'm seeing. Hell no I'm not buying what I see and understand, but since I'm the fan here, I'll at least play the thing to see what they were trying to do.
=-=
That's basically it. Even though I agree with the facts of what you said.

Didn't sway my opinion much, but it mentions Shang's island so it'd be retarded to have his stage and not him. +.5 points in the positive. Only nedded 99.5 more for me to be excited.

The game was based on gore? No, no it wasn't. It never was BASED on gore, as you say.

well the agruement isnt rather it will be dark or not it seems that everyone is thinking because the game dont have a single person storyline it will suck ..the original mk didnt have much of a story line it just had the tower and a ending for each character ...but the whole thing on fatalitys might not be the same but ed boon says there will be finishers ..so it cant be all that bad and who doesnt want to see sub-zero freeze super-man ???

You should try to look at the other aspects about it. It will be dark. Superman may be a dark character but you know what? Neither is Liu Kang, or Bo Rai Cho. It will still be dark, gritty and bad ass, with or without Fatalities and all that jazz.
Agreed. Batman is dark, someone over there at DC knows dark and gritty. Teamed up with MK crew I think they can pull this off.Garlador Wrote:

It's gonna kick ass. I am completely okay with more realistic fighting, realistic blood, and a dark as fuck feel.

Boon trying to make sense out of all of this in interviews just makes me think that it will be a cash grab. That way they get the game mechanics all fine tuned and release a real MK game.
Or of course this could be like Zebra Man, to get us off the scent of what they're really doing. Plus it gets people talking... like it did Zebra Man.

Zebron is actually set to be the villain of the game.
