I only state PERSONAL opinions in my post above. I am not bashing MS or their business policies. Business is business. The system just doesn't appeal to me. I have plenty of games to enjoy without paying for another system, an online connection, etc.

Would I like Halo? Yes. It sucks that it is only on xbox. Likewise, it sux that xbox owners don't get some of the great games from other systems.

The Doom and Halo comments were not to insult someone else for owning an xbox, nor were they attempt to "bash" the system. They were just added reasons that I don't want/own the system, and why I wouldn't get the next MK if MS bought Midway.

Microf*ck can seriously F off!!! Midway might be better off with them, but that leaves us PS fans out in the cold. I won't and will NEVER buy an X-box. The playstation controller is just so much more versatile, the PS2 as a system is so much better because it simply has better games. Bill Gates can suck on it. Leave Midway alone.

Only a rumor?! Damn! Are you sure? And everyone's getting my heart pumping like this for little reason.

I just can't afford any other systems, That's why i'm so dead set on the MK series continuing to be on the PS2. I personally have no problem with the Xbox (other then the paddles, my cousin has an xbox and i get fraustrated with the paddles)

And Error-Macro, Nobody has been flamming the Xbox... Only Bill Gates. But there have been alot of people who have Xbox's who are claiming how superior it is to the PS2 and how much better it would be if the series was only on the Xbox rather then all three.

I'm not 100% sure, but I do know that this same story surfaced last year, and I really don't know how it ended up bcoming so popular again now, after its been forgotten for so long.

I asked one of my buddies about this, and him to said this was a rumour a year ago, infact, he said it was also a rumour the year before last year. And.....nothing happened.

So my guess is, its just some lame rumour and nothing will happen. Thank jumpin god.

wait wait wait here, how would they lose money on it,think about it.They would only be making mkd for xbox, less money spent to make it for two systems, there not really losing any money but they probably wouldnt get has much but it wouldnt matter if microsoft own them. And if ms didnt own them they could just get a contract with them to just make mk games only for xbox for a cirtin about of time.

Screw that. Microsoft is evil i tell u, EEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!
Xbox is a great console. It has a lot of games that the PS2 has and a couple (not as many as Nintendo or PS2) of it's own excellent exclusives. I just bought Ninja Gaiden.. oh man.. good ass game.

Any 3rd party games that come out on all 3 systems look the best on Xbox.

But we can face serious facts here.. they're all fun machines. They all have superb exclusive games for them..

If Midway gets eaten up by Microsoft it still looks wierd because of how heavily Sony/PS2 has grasp of them. I personally don't mind what happens to any gaming company.. as long as there's some machine out there that plays the games I wanna play.

Like I said in another forum, I think it'd be hilarious if Microsoft bought Midway. It'd cause such an uproar that the MKO server would likely explode due to the content of the posts...

But anyway, some things I'd like to say (I suck at transitional material):

First, such a buy-out like this guarantees nothing but security for Midway. Every time Midway does something good for themselves (like they did with MKII and MK: DA), their upper-management finds some way to fuck it up, spend oodles of money on nothing, and bring them to the brink of bankruptcy like none before. In fact, despite MK: DA doing so well, Midway's still in trouble. Probably why they're in such a hurry to get MK: D out. If Microsoft bought Midway, or even bought the majority of their stock, first order of business would be get those guys out of there.

Second, why does everyone jump on Microsoft every time they try to buy out a company or acquire exclusivity on certain titles? It's not like Sony and Nintendo are guilty of no such thing. Nintendo had "stolen" plenty of exclusives back when they had the power to do so (now that they don't they're not getting my pity) and Sony still does. Furthermore, like in the case of Team Ninja, some developers simply want to work with nothing but the best, and the Xbox platform has the best balance of power and ease.

Third, what the damn is wrong with the Xbox Controller S? How can you not at least not mind it? It's layout is utterly simple, it melts right into your hands, sturdy as a brick, fully-featured, not much bigger than the PSX/2 controllers (which are too small anyway)...what's the problem? Personally, it's the only controller I can use for hours and hours without getting cramps in my fingers.

Fourth, when it comes to gaming consoles, Microsoft's not any dirtier and greedier than Nintendo or Sony, Microsoft's just got more money to throw around. I appreciate Microsoft's efforts to listen to their customers and deliver on what they want though, and the original titles they offer are a breath of fresh air...but that's just my personal opinion. In contrast, Sony couldn't care less, and Nintendo, despite gamers' pleas, are off in Fantasy Land dreaming about how they have some special insight into making games that people are going to notice and maybe even appreciate.

Fifth, someone said GTA3/VC was no better on Xbox than on PS2. Now this is not a fanboy rant, or at least it's not meant to be, but you've gotta be kidding. GTA3/VC were awful games to begin with, but not only were the graphics considerably better on the Xbox versions, but there were also shorter/less-frequent load times, bug fixes, and other tweaks.

Sixth, why do people treat graphics as if they don't mean anything? Like they're not even part of the formula? Don't people actually look at games while they're playing them? If the art is good in a game, can it not add to that game's richness? If the lighting's better, can it not add to a game's realism or atmosphere? Isn't it at least slightly possible that a game's appearance could, in fact, make it more enjoyable on the whole? Or does everyone have some other insight that I don't? Honest question.

keep comforting yourself. but the fact is, last year WAS a rumor. midway was struggling and many people speculated microsoft will buy them without microsoft really showing any interest. but now bill gates IS interested and could very easily happen. not a rumor anymore.

and to the people telling themselves microsoft would allow mortal kombat to go anywhere but their console if they bought midway, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.
foahchon slapped this thread something silly.

Yeah, well they couldve done it last year, and they didnt. Too bad.

It could still happen, but to me, chances are it wont. I dont see MK being just for xbox, i see it being for all 3 systems.

I still have hope that bill gates will get his slimy paws off midway.

mk deception won't even be on the gamecube. what makes you think mortal kombat would be on all three consoles if microsoft bought midway? confused i'd like to wear your glasses though that you see through. i totally want to see things that will never happen. kind of like 3d glasses when i was a kid. i bought x-ray glasses once but they never worked sad.

I have ps2. Thats what i'm trying to get at. If microsoft owns midway, then the fackin game wont even be for ps2, and that would be craptastic. I own ps2 and gamecube, and knowing the fact that mk6 wont be for none of them is really dissapointing. Gates should really keep his nose out of midway. I do NOT want to buy an xbox for more than enough reasons as it is. If you were wearing MY glasses, you would know exactly what i mean. You dont, because your more of an xbox fan. I'm not.

Actually, I think fans of Microsoft are more likely to be fans of capitalism, since that what Microsoft is made famous by practicing, at least on these boards.

Well, I have an Xbox, but I never really play it. ;) If Deception goes exclusive (or future MK titles for that matter), then it will give me a reason to actually play it. The Xbox is in the living room and it's more or less my room mate's in the sense that I never touch it and he's on it all the time. I moved the PlayStation 2 and Game Cube to my room though. The Game Cube, to me, is just about as useless as the Xbox, but Zelda and the Game Boy Player gives it that extra edge worthy of being placed in my bed room. :)

I like my PlayStation 2 though. Even if Deadly Alliance was the most inferior on it, I had more fun with it over my friends' Game Cube and Xbox versions. The Game Cube's pad, while awesome for platformers like Mario or adventure games like Zelda and Star Fox, blows ass when it comes to fighting games. Too akward of a button scheme. The Xbox is a little better, but not much. Not to mention the Xbox had that Frost glitch where the game froze when you used her ground freeze move (which is pretty ironic if you think about it, Frost, game froze, ground freeze...). It happened a lot of my buddy Dave's system. It pissed him off because Frost was one of his best characters to play as.

Anyway, if Midway does sell to Microsoft then they can kiss a lot, actually most, of their sales good bye. Deadly Alliance sold more on the PlayStation 2 than the Game Cube, Xbox, and Game Boy Advance combined. What's more there's 25 million PlayStation 2 owners in the US and 70 million world-wide. Compare that to the 7-8 million Xbox owners in the US and under 15 million Xbox owners world-wide. The numbers don't lie - Sony owns the market. The PlayStation 2 is just trashing the Game Cube and Xbox in every major territory: Japan, US and Canada, and across Europe. When a series's bread and butter is its North American audience (and, to be honest, most of Deadly Alliance's 2.5 million came from the US and Canada), you can't really ignore that 25 million user-base.

It's certainly a short-term gain. If Midway becomes a second party to Microsoft, it will mainly benefit them in the short run while they're in fiancial troubles. Once they get back on their feet, they've cut out the biggest money-making machine on the market, the PlayStation 2 (compare that Madden 2004 sold over 3 million on the PS2 to the under one million on the Xbox, or Deadly Alliance topping 1.1 million on the PS2 and 400,000 on the Xbox) which isn't good for long-term interests.

At the same time, if Microsoft backs them with development costs, Midway could sell less games and turn profit. However why do that when you could sell three times the amount of games and earn a lot more back in revenue? Sure it would help them out now, but it would severely limit any potential growth, especially commericially, for them tomorrow.
