Hmmm Microsoft buying Midway? Wacky adventures will follow... I have an X- Box myself and I kind of like the idea but if they do buy it and don't make MK out for any other consoles... then I wouldn't like that... MK= Fun for all and all for fun...

There's a subtle difference between buying out a company, and signing a time exclusivity contract over a couple of games. A buyout by Microsoft would see the cancelation of every Midway product in development for PS2 or GCN. I mean look at MS's buyout of Rare for example. Right away Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Perfect Dark Zero, and Kameo were cancelled for GCN, and are now Xbox exclusive.

All I have to say is thank god I have an Xbox. And I would love to see MS take over Midway. IT just means better games.

It also means the MK universe would be very limited, sells-wise. I doupt every single mk fan would buy an xbox just to play MK6 or other future MK games.

That would defenetely be an evil- yet clever- thing for Microsoft to do, though. After a huge hype is created within PS2 fans, they buy midway and make MKD exclusive to the X-Box. Mother fuckers.

I have to concur. Although Midway would get a much-needed financial boost, they'd also lose a huge amount of sales. So where's that leave them? Midway in particular thrives on games that cross the platforms (specifically PS2 & XBox, with GameCube being rarely developed on). Let's use MK:DA as an example. The PS2 version sold over a million copies, the XBox version sold about 400,000, and the GameCube version sold about 250,000. None of those is a poor figure, but combined, it's monstrous - rarely matched in the gaming industry. Cutting off 75% of it, by making the game XBox exclusive, is hardly beneficial to Midway.

Of course, it's the same story with any game - any time a developer makes a game exclusively for any one system (particularly when it's not the PS2), they're inevitably sacrificing sales for political concerns (ownership, favoratism, personal programming preference, etc). PS2 is where the biggest audience is, so that's where the most money is.

But if Microsoft buys out Midway, Midway itself will be in a better position, although they'll basically become a smaller house, as their net sales will be reduced dramatically.

Error-Macro. I personally don't like alot of the games that come out on the Xbox, All my favorites are on the PS2. I also hate the Xbox controllers, They're so ackward and fraustrating to me. And to make things worst, I had to wait two years after the PS2 came out to buy it because i had to save up the money for it. My income is less then flattering and when the next-gen consoles come out... I'll be waiting to scrape together enough money for the PS3.

I really hope this doesn't happen. I love the MK games, but my brother is taking his X-Box to college with him, and I wouldn't be able to play MK-7. Just really, really hope this doesn't happen, we'll have to watch this cloesely, thanks for the report.

If MKD or MK7 were on Xbox only at least the graphics wouldn't suck as much, the game would far more possibilities only on Xbox, instead of taking the PS2 version and making the graphics a little sharper... and complaining about the controller of the Xbox is kind of an excuse... they aren't that hard to get used to.. period... especially the s-controllers.. and I like the larger ones myself.. anyway... Xbox exclusive... yay for quality of the game, though sales would be down possibly, but am I the one that really affects... hmm... no.. the quality of the game is my concern.... If MKD has the graphics of Ninja Gaiden... that would be sweet.... later

You don't know MS that well. How many mac products to they make? How many Unix programs(OK not that many but there are some)?
