That whole post is just ignorant. Large publishers like Midway don't rely on just one game to keep them operating. They rely on several throughout the year. Midway's demise is from years of poor business practices and decisions. MKvsDCU's purpose was in no way to completely save Midway from it's mountain of debt. Anyone with half of a brain should realize that.

We should have all been worried when we read this:

"It would appear that Midway is hoping for successful releases of their upcoming games, Wheelman and This is Vegas."

Yep. They're pretty fucked. But maybe... just maybe... the court will work in their favor.

Eitherway, none of this is the fault of Mortal Kombat. MKvsDC, no matter what you may think of it, was a success as far as fighting games go. It is by far the best selling fighting game right now and will be such until the release of Street Fighter 4.

You just got to remember, fighting games aren't particularly popular right now. The industry is being dominated by first-person shooters, and hopefully Street Fighter will invigorate the genre.

MK vs. DC isn't responsible, Midway's been in the finacial shitter for a while. The previous CEO was being sued by his ex and his own son for christ's sake. That's why he sold the company, and MK vs. DC's sales were actually pretty good.

Whatever! Could care less about Midway. MK is all that concerns me.
And I have faith MK will live with or without Midway at the helm of it.

Before MKvsDCU was released Midway had 167,000,000 and now you will find out that they have much more .

They can repay the debt but after that they wont be able to operate ,so this is why they used Chapter 11 .

If things went worse ,I hope the team is picked by some other Company that respect the title and gives the team more time and bigger budget .

But the word "bankruptcy" is a huge turn off to people. It pretty much ruins a business. Look at what happened to the singing group TLC. Even after they filed for bankruptcy, they were able to main a decent amount of wealth, but one people heard about it, their album sales dropped.

Unless another company takes up MK, it's gone, dude.

All the people that want Namco, Capcom or some other jap company to get MK....that will RUIN MK, period and it won't be MK it'll be Soul Calibur or Tekken and a poor attempt at a "Dark Japanese fighting game" with an MK logo on it...boo and people think it sucks now? It would not be MK, it would be anime ninjas dressed in Yellow, blue, red, green and grey. Boo... ha, ha wait to that happens(god please no) plus we all know the Japanese don't like our ideas with MK, GTA, Halo being too "bloody" or distasteful to them so I'm sure the fatalities would also suck royal ass from what we know.

If no USA company doesn't pick it up, I'd rather see MK die our American. Just look at Capcom/US tried to do with SF the movie in an "MK attempt" the game sucked royally and was crap. Only MK can do digitized people well. Either way MK is still one of the best, most well known fighters ever made. Period. Nobody can change that, top 100 games of all time notice an MK game always pops up so I rest my case.


Great post right here ^. Either way you look at it MKDC is selling and doing well, some people just don't want to admit due to personal hatred or dislike of the game I've discovered. Sadly it may not be enough to save Midway. I agree with Mineout and many others who want Psi-Ops 2...I've been peaching that for YEARS ever since the first one....such an underrated game and one of Midway's best games ever made, period.

Midway has $167,000,000 in total assets, not total cash flow. True, some of it may be cash, but assets usually consist of things like buildings, all the stuff in those buildings, intellectual properties, etc. When you see $167,000,000, don't think that's the actual amount of cash they have in the bank.

I don't want to argue or offend anyone, so I won't point fingers, but it appears that some of the people here are really prejudiced, biased and/or ignorant. And I'm curious if it dazzles anyone else's eyes, too.

This can't be denied. Sales and games played prove it. I am not attacking those who disliked the game. I can however state an opinion about those who are fanatical about preaching hatred about the game every. single. chance. they. get.

Some love it, and some dislike it. It just isn't for some people. It isn't some godawful game though, for the type of game it is.
