Did the MK team not notice how much the fans hated Annihilation? Do they really think implying aspects of it count would be a good thing?

I can already hear what will no doubt be the battle cry of all storyline defenders in regard to this game:
"IT'S NON-CANON!!!"



God, it's fucking Shaolin Monks all over again....

1.- The story of this game is not canon......but who knows about THOSE specific details. For example, they refer to Sonya as impulsive and caring in her bio, and they refer to Kano as dangerous and not disciplined, but just because the game is not canon, that doesn't mean THAT isn't canon, does it?

2.- I actually enjoyed and loved that bit of info in MK:Annihilation.

I understand the movie was a huge disappointment, but having Rayden and Kahn as brothers could actually hold A LOT MORE interesting potential then most people here think.

Linking it just to the disaster of MK:Annihilation doesn't make it bad.

Now, I'm even more interested about this game and the future installments.

I find it more like an awesome revelation and bit of trivia. If this is the case, and if this indeed happens for the future...wow, I hope they don't screw it up, and I hope they explain well why we didn't know about this till now.

is this the bio from the strategy guide? they're known for getting things wrong. especially prima.

if this is in the game than yeah it kind of sucks but if this is guide specific i wouldn't worry too much about it.

I seriously hope this isn't a canon element to the story....What the hell are they thinking? Next thing you know...Shinnok is their father and Scorpion is actually Sub-Zero's long lost cousin....-_-

I think its a great direction for both of them. People are complaining about both of their stories getting old and what not, this is just what they needed. It dosent mean that Shinnok is their father though.

Raiden already got a new story direction in Deception. And if they want to give Kahn one, some half-assed revelation of he being related to Raiden sure as shit isn't the answer.

1.MK vs DC, where's the DC? It only describes him and Shao Kah fighting, and since Shao Kahn is Dark Kahn, It can't REALYL be possible
2. If annihilation was in 1997, why wait until NOW to make it official?
3. I find it impossible to believe Midway is blissfully unaware of how shitty people believed MKA was (mostly the movie, partially the game PARTIALLY).

Even the guys down at Midway have said that they don't like MK Annihilation. I wouldn't put too much stock in this being official. Or if it is, then it's just a horrible, horrible error

Fans hated that garbage in MK Annihilation. It was a cheap, nonsensical, and desperate bid to "shock" the fans.

Just their past histories suggest that Raiden and Shao Kahn are about as related as Liu Kang and Sonya. I mean, Noob Saibot being Sub-Zero's undead brother makes sense at least and fits both their personalities and histories, but Shao Kahn and Raiden are as distant, unrelated, and different as one could possible be.

If this is official, this only undermines the game's already flimsy storyline and further alienates me from what I desperately want from a good MK game (mainly a good MK storyline.)

If this is completely untrue or non-canon.... it's still a damn stupid idea.

Jeez its not a freaking big deal. The MK team could have BEEN seen them as brothers and NOW you guys wanna complain? Whats the big deal even if it is true? You're acting like midway just confirmed that they were lovers. I'm sure Shinnok is not their father, least in the games. Just chill, its not a big deal. But its probably not true.

anytime someone messes with mortal kombats already screwed up continuity it's a big deal.

Lemme try and articulate for you why Raiden and Kahn being brothers is such a bad idea.
First of all, it's been canon since MK Mythologies that Raiden already HAS 4 brothers: Fujin and the other three gods of the elements. Note how all of them are GODS. They were BORN as gods and have always been GODS. They're also all from Earthrealm. Now note how Shao Kahn is NOT from Earthrealm and is NOT a god. A demigod, maybe. We know he's "immortal", but he's NEVER been called a god before. It just doesn't make sense for them to be brothers when they're not the same f*cking race and don't come from the same f*cking realm.
Anyway, can anyone confirm that this is actually IN the game, and not just taken from the strategy guide or something?
