He retains his newly gained powers and self-proclaims himself as "Mayor Joker" of Gotham. He holds a tournament in which "contestents" fight each other to the death for his amusement. Upon the end of the tournament, the winner faces off against the Joker.

God, no.
1 - Menus "rap"...? You mean the singing or are you asking does the menu loop?
2 - Free Fall and Klose Kombat work very similar to each other. You can visually see your opponents stance (vs the CPU anyway) and judge what button press from there. Aside from that however, its pretty much a guess game. Sometimes you land all hits (or escape early) sometimes you don't. I haven't timed it out. I'm busy getting spoilers
3 - RAGE just a temporary power up. Nothing more. But if you use your breakers, your RAGE meter will drain. You can store up to 2 Breakers. And you can replenish the meter as the fight continues. Test Your Might is just button mashing on all four attack buttons. The faster you can press them, the higher the percentage of damage you can deliver. No strategy or visual aid necessary.
4 - Story Mode is just like the Arcade Mode. There is no adventure or exploring to be done. Its a straight linear pass through each side. You fight and play as different characters throughout. Finishers can not be performed in Story Mode.

thanks for that. Yes I did mean rap as in loop lol. does it also hold true for the character selection screen? Also have you noticed any special sounds for entering klose kombat or any of the other modes? SOrry for asking so many questions, but I really don't want to blindly buy this game not knowing if I can play it properly.
I really don't know if the menu loops. I'll check into that.
I haven't noticed a sound indicating Klose Kombat but there could be. I'll investigate it further. The annoucer yells "Test Your Might!", so that's pretty obvious. Free Fall may be hard to tell. There is destructible statues that make the same crashing noise as when you crash through the edge of the arena. There is a sound that play when you reverse during a Free Fall. Its not a chime but a different whoosh sound.

A few questions. And I appreciate you taking the time to answer questions for everyone, by the way. Some dragon points for you.
1) How do breakers work? Do you have to time them properly in order to actually interrupt an attack or can you just spam the input and have it work regardless?
2) When you get knocked on the ground, what can you do? How can you roll? Can you stay on the ground if you want to or does the game force you up? How many attacks can you do from the ground?
3) How do the throws work? I know there are more than one but how are they all activated and how is each escaped?

I can answer 2 and 3:
2) Hold Block - Stay on the ground
While holding Block press:
Attack 1 - Double Foot Rising Kick
Attack 2 - Uppercut
Attack 3 - Low Kick
Attack 4 - Rising Kick
Back - Roll Back
Up - Roll upward
Down - Roll forward
Forward - No Move
Down/Back - Quick Getup
3) Input listed are for PS3:
Throw - 1+3 or L1
Throw Tech - Any attack button as you land
Klose Kombat - 2+4 or R1
Low Klose Kombat - d+2+4 or d+R1
KK Escape - 2+4 or R1
I assume that breakers would work the same as in previous MK games where you hold f+Block and when you are hit it happens...don't know for sure, all I have is the guide ;_;

Ok, how about this one. This game seems all over the place. Some reviewers giving it 8/10 others giving it 5/10. I realize you've only had a little time with the game but which of these review trends would you say is "right"? And do you have any idea why the other trend sees it the way they do? Why the difference?

I've just got one question right now.
Assuming you've unlocked Shao Kahn...tell me, his Shoulder Charge: are there actual "shadows"/after-images trailing behind him like there were in MK2 and 3, or is it just a generic green glow?

I think the difference in reviews is due to personal preference as to what a fighting game should be. Some people prefer Tekken like games, some like Street Fighter style games and some enjoy Mortal Kombat. Each play differently and you don't have to be a fanboy to enjoy one or the other.
Graphics - 8/10
Sound - 6/10
Gameplay - 8/10
Lasting Appeal - 2/10
Personal rating - 7/10 overall.
Unless you play human opponents (online or offline) it does get boring. Graphics are souped up versions of the MK:D models. Textures have little detail. Models however have a fair amount of details. Sound effects are weak. And very unimpressive. Voice acting is all over the place. Joker's is the best and does offer comic relief. Captian Marvel's voice acting is not even remotely good. Neither is Green Lantern's. Although these voices are better than Ed Boon just reading lines. They actually TRY to act. The fact there are no unlockables is a big let down for me personally. Like WarriorPrincess, I wanted to unlock useful stuff so I can then go back to Arcade Mode and use it. But not this time. There's always the real Mortal Kombat 8 for that I suppose.

The FMV endings in MK4 and in other games in the genre like Tekken and Soul Calibur give you so little story. They're just a brief moment taking place immediately after the battles. It's lame.

If only there were some way we could wrest control back from the FMVs, but how blast it?! We're only human! How?!

Hmmm... Any more clues?
At this point, this is the only interesting tidbit left!

I'm having trouble picturing the combination. Any more clues? Colours? Specific similarities to the two referenced?
