MKvsDCU Bosses: Best/worst case scenario
MKvsDCU Bosses: Best/worst case scenario
Ok, the goal of this thread is to promote discussion regarding the bosses of MKvsDCU.
Ok, on the MK side:
The best case boss for MK would be either Shang Tsung or Shao Kahn. Shao Kahn has all the strength and power needed to take on superheroes while Shang has all the dark magics and sorcery at his disposal. Shang is probably more iconic than Shao because of his involvement in the MK movie that people didn't hate. Also, Shang could become any other fighter, making him the most versatile fighter in the series.
Worst case boss for MK would be Quan Chi or Shinnok. Sure, Quan Chi is a sorceror who is almost but not quite as powerful as Shang Tsung without Shinnok's amulet, but he's a totally lame boss as proven in MKDA. Shinnok was a likewise awful boss in MK4 in spite of his godly might. All in all, these two characters should be nowhere near this game.
On the DC side:
I don't know much about the DC universe. The only DC comic I ever collected was Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew. I'll let other people deal with the DC side.

Unless it's someone new being made for this game, Shao Kahn for MK and Darkseid for DC.
And Quan Chi owns Shang Tsung.

Whoopti-shit.

Doomsday would be good.
Darkseid would be good.
Bane would be good.
Black Adam would be good.
Brainiac 13 would be good.
Maybe even Mongul...
Not much in the aspect of boss reflecting characters come to mind. These would defiantly be my choices though.
But since were going for ICONS. Doomsday, Darkseid, & Bane.
Darkseid would be good.

Shao Kahn and Darkseid are excellent parallels.
Shao is the ruler of a vast wasteland of a realm who got his position by assassinating his boss and seeks to unify the realms and bring them under his command
Darkseid is the ruler of a vast wasteland of a world who got his position by assassinating his mother and seeks to find the anti-life equation and bring the universe under his command.
These two should be the boss.
Or, since there will be mergers of the worlds, why not merge these two as well?
Dark Kahn or something. And why do you say that about Black Adam, Bezou?

Shao Kahn is probably more iconic than Shang, as he's the supreme ruler of Outworld and being the larger threat of the two. He and Darkseid would compliment each other nicely.
Would love to see Shang and Doomsday as sub-bosses. If we're fortunate, maybe they'll give us three bosses like in MKII.

I'd love to see Onaga (in addition to Shang Tsung or Shao Kahn of course), I don't know if he's iconic enough and doesn't really have a DC counterpart.

If they announce Quan Chi's on the roster, I'm gonna think of you, Bezou, and laugh heartily.
He's one of Ed's favorites, y'know.

Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Kitana and Mileena. Jade and Tanya. Sektor and Cyrax. Yeah, what's with DC?
Black Adam's pretty bad ass. I don't know about the boss, but he could be a cool addition.

Agreed. And IMO Black Adam is much more interesting, and sinister then Captain Marvel. Sure they got the same tailor, But Black Adam is so much cooler. Always been badass, always been a favorite to me.

I paired Shinnok and Darkseid, even though I agree with Shao Kahn and Darkseid.
::Both are technically defined, Very High-powered Gods.
::Both have went to war with "Heaven"...
::Both rule "Hell"....
::Both seek ultimate power through some means outside of their own personal power. Shinnok with the amulet, Darkseid with the anti life equation.
::Both carry themselves with some sort of distorted "code" of conduct regardless of them being evil characters..
So that's ambitions, characteristics, and personality that are almost mirror reflections of each other.

Shao Kahn is in a similar light, so he'd fit better than Shang Tsung right here as a Boss. But, the only real questionable issue here, is that Shao Kahn is more iconic than Shinnok or Shang Tsung. Neither Quan Chi, nor Shang Tsung is an adequate match for Darkseid though...not by a long shot. He'd just kill them and move on.
Shinnok is supposed to dwarf Shao Kahn, much the same as Darkseid would. Power, experience, age, and capabilities considered, Darkseid couldn't just kill Shinnok and move on...he's too powerful over on the MK side of things, just like Darkseid is for DC.
In here, there's a more indepth description of my opinion. Last post.
I'd go with Shinnok//Darksied though. I think they'd make the most sense....but then again, this is MKvsDC.

Definitely ^
For DC I totally agree, any of them could work.
For MK, Kahn, Onaga, Shang, Blaze or even Motaro would do. I'm just sick of Goro right now honestly...lol

Man there's a lot of mistakenness about who's more powerful than who in this topic.
MK Mythologies and MK4 establish that without his Amulet, Shinnok has very little power. Quan Chi was always the true power behind the throne.
Shao Kahn is only slightly less powerful than the combined might of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, as evidenced by the fact that it took them both to beat (an exact duplicate of) him in Deadly Alliance, and even then, we're told in Konquest mode that it was an extremely close fight.
Vogel is on record stating that Quan Chi is the greatest sorcerer in the MK Universe, more powerful than Shang Tsung.
So here's your definitive, Midway-confirmed scale of power:
Shao Kahn > Quan Chi > Shang Tsung > or = Shinnok

This kinda scenario seems like the obvious route.
Shao Kahn and Darkseid get to talking and decide it's in their mutual interest to be bastards on an interdimensional scale. One wants to conquer and merge with Earthrealm; one wants Earth to create the Fifth World.
As much as I've hated on Doomsday over the past month, I could live with him as the DC representative for a brute sub-boss. I'd personally prefer Kintaro from the MK side of things (for a little consistency in Goro's allegiances), but that slot is pretty interchangable.
It's all so perfect it probably won't happen!
EDIT: ... and it's worth adding: Doomsday and Bane are icons for one-hit wonders. If there's internal influence from DC, I'd like to think some longer lasting and more relevant characters might slip in, even if the zoo-going children don't remember their names...

I think Shao Kahn would be fitting as the best boss. Though I'd prefer Shang to be, but he'd be more fitting in the background manipulating the DC roster with his shape shifting. I don't know about the DC bosses. Don't care. I'm with Bezou on Quan and Shinnok. Completely worthless.

forgot to quote:
Shinnok's not a "normal" character, he's a god. A banished one, but, a god.
If you're ranking them, Shinnok is supposed to, like I said, supposed to dwarf Shao Kahn.
Shao Kahn's not a god. He's immortal, and really strong by EarthRealm standards. But he's not eternal like Shinnok, Raiden, or Fujin...OR Darkseid. He's a mortal with alot of power.
So rank them right.
And what do you think a boss does? In any sense...they make other people do shit for them. So what's your point?
You just trying to be disagreeable or what? lol

No, Shinnok is NOT a God. He USED to be. He poured MOST of that power into the amulet when he created it, and was STRIPPED of the rest.
This is canon.
I'm not trying to be disagreeable, I'm trying to educate.

Hahaha!
Go get it and show it to me, where it says "Shinnok is no longer a god", and I'll happily concede.
And with that, question Shinnok as an adequate match for Raiden.

He used to be an Elder God.
And when was this established? MKM/MK4?...
... I'd like to think ruling in Hell has it's benefits, if only by necessity.
I think MK's notoriously underwhelming characterization has undercut Shinnok with moustache-stroking schemes of manipulation and pawnery. I think it's still fair to assume he's a god, or certainly god-like in power.
Unlike that Raiden guy, who expelled the total of his powers when he and the deadly alliance tried to kill Onaga... Hey, wait a second...

Apparently, "Kamidogu + undead Dragon King = dwarfing of two sorcerers and one God character."
Otherwise, I'd calibrate the following:
Shinnok>Onaga>Shao Kahn>Quan Chi>Shang Tsung
...for the baddies anyway.
