In regards to this matter, (and all of the news lead submissions on the topic that we are getting in), after speaking to one of our contacts at Midway tonight we have learned the following. They were unable to officially confirm or deny anything, as that they are holding off for E3 to release new information, but we have been told that the news in this thread is quote, "as far from official as it gets..mostly far-fetched rumors at best".

It's very unlikely this German magazine was given information directly from the MK Team or people close to the project. At times employees might blab things off to people.. but by the time it hits the press like any rumor, it becomes less and less accurate as the message becomes distorted. I'm not saying this information isn't accurate.. but don't bet your money on it. Midway has been very good with keeping official details secret. Come May, we'll know more.

My thoughts :

SEKTOR is a massive plus for the game. Imagine the homing missiles and flamethrower in 3D. I am very excited about him.

If done well both LIU KANG and TANYA may be very popular and surprise many. Didn't TANYA have some cool Boomerang type weapon?

I hope RAIDEN is in and I also hope they bring back his winning poses and general feel from earlier games, ie. He raises his arms and summonses lightning when he wins and he uses the torpedo move.

Female KANO lookalike? Could it be KANO transformed by one of the sorcerers? Could it be another member of "Black Dragon"?, could it be something else altogether? Whichever way it goes I hope she isn't a new character with the same eye as KANO. I mean he is unique and should remain that way.

I hope the eventual 30 hinted at means NITARA is in afterall. Not sure since the vampire is not confirmed.

I know NIGHTWOLF is from a certain Indian tribe but it wouldn't hurt to make his alternate look similar to "Chief Thunder" from KI. Even if it's just to take his shirt/jacket off and show some warpaint on bare flesh.

I could be wrong, but Liu Kang's Spirit MIGHT NOT be a character, but rather a cheat of some sort. When activated, the character you play as gets possessed by a flying spirit. Liu Kang's head band is worn by your character, and they become Liu Kang!! Not only do they have their own special attacks, they have Liu's as well!! They are powered up, and have his turkey noises as well.
It could be that, seeing as their are 11 classic characters returning.

And about 24, it could just be a codename, like Ketchup and Mustard for Sektor and Cyrax in MK3.

Finally, about what Konqqr said about the Deadly Alliance killing Raiden, i have something to say about it: THAT SOUNDS SWEET!! Even though it might not be in Deception any more, that has got to be the most brave thing Boon has done since killing Liu Kang.

Hmm, so the article is real, the source is real, but the info is/could be fake? Interesting. I'll be there are some nuggets of truth in there, like Sektor being in the game, and Li Mei, Tanya, etc. But I gotta admit that alot of those ideas seemed far fetched. Liu Kang's spirit? A female Kano? A guy named Skab? I'm not saying that I don't believe the magazine. I'm looking forward to Scorpion posting those pics tomorrow.

There is defenately some farfetched things in the article but I'm pretty sure Skab is the real deal. I recall Konqrr saying one of the new characters names was "Gross" a couple days ago, before this article was even found. Konqrr seems to know his shit.

I think Midway Europe made a mistake by giving that magazine info and images too early. Probably this info was supposed to be in the next issue, which means AFTER E3. German magazines are one of the best in Europe and they don't publish BS. Never seen this one before, but GameStar, GamePro, PC Player and PC Games are very good!

Storyline IS VERY important. MKs storyline is awesome, and I'm sorry to hear you don’t care.

CPandolfo, I understand you. You buy a game, because you want to PLAY it, not read some story. It's fine.
On the other hand, I am still interested in MK because of its story. I hated MK4, but it was the story that kept dragging me back. I can't speak for everyone, but for me the plot saved the series.
MKDA ended with a cliffhanger. Don't you wanna know who the DK is what his problem is? Not at all?

However it happens often that magazines speculate and claim certain things to be fact, when it's only a rumor. A big while ago before MK5 came out, a certain US gaming magazine claimed that Fujin, Kabal and Cyrax were all in the work for MK5, but finally it was complete crap, at the time only Jax, Quan Chi and Scorpion were 100% confirmed.

There is maybe some truth in the article, but I would not bet on it all(like for Bo Rai Cho, the female Kano etc)

I KNEW Liu Kang would come back. I may not like him much but no major character of MK was out of it for two games in a row.
