I think they should just turn Reptile into a full blown dragon.

a really good create a fighter. more gore. make the backgrounds be larger and able to fight all over the place. more alternate costumes and more weapons. make them be able to use their costumes in moves. make whatever they have on their costumes usable like in MK:DA scorpion had a bad ass costume but he couldn't do much with it
0
have all the characters return and have a huge roster of characters. make a whole lot of new characters, it make it better. have some of the good guys turn evil and some of the bad guys turn good. Bring back liu kang and make him evil. make reptile back into a ninja.

have changing weather and have it as a factor. Make the clothing tear battle scars stay cuts, bruises, black eyes. make hits be a factor the more they get hit and beat up the slower they react and move. make them have several fatalities.
Most importantly there should be a return to the stress on Chinese Mythology. We (the older fans) have kept playing this game because the storyline hooked us in. It currently is poor compared to older games like Mortal Kombat 1 and 2. John Tobias, or someone fascinated with Chinese Mythology should be in charge of the storyline, not just some random Midway programmer.
The characters need to have better individual storylines, some were very poor.
I think the sequel should have to do with Shang Tsung and Quan Chi breaking their alliance and sending their recruits against eachother's factions while still trying to take over earthrealm. The factions could include various people they've worked with in the past and newer ones.
The Lin Kuei could play a big role in the new one. Sub-Zero should seize Cyrax, claiming that he's Lin Kuei property. Also, it's only natural that since the Special Forces could restore Cyrax's human will, that he would want this for his best friend (Smoke). Cyrax would make a great assassin for the clan. Smoke should return, he's played an important role in MK3, and is a trademark to the MK series. He could help S-Z reform the Lin Kuei, and teach new members. SEKTOR would also be a great addition to the storyline, either back for revenge, or retrieved by Sub-Zero and his soul restored to help Sub reform the Lin Kuei as a teacher. Frost has to go. There should be newer male ninjas, with the traditional uniform, but slight variations to escape repetitiveness. Also, with the Lin Kuei, there should be an explanation why they sent a ninja twice to assassinate Shang Tsung.
With all the factions present in Deadly Alliance, a greater storyline should happen for the factions as a whole, including the Red and Black Dragons, the Lin Kuei, Special Forces, Shang Tsung/Quan Chi's factions, etc...
Mortal Kombat is no longer a tournament. Therefore, it should stop being played like one. if tournament mode is kept, there should be a focus on a story mode that takes a character along their path in the game and their true ending as the game closes.
Levels need to be made to fight on, not too look good. Also, everything must be darker and have a more sinister feel as it did in MK1 and 2. Even in levels where it's daylight in that game it still had a dark feel. Everything is too light in the newer game.
A create-a-character mode would be interesting, but the created characters must be very generic, so they're not to have an impact on the storyline. The character could be built by them picking a character who's fighting style they would like to learn, going through trials to meet him/her, and then practicing with and learning the philosiphies of that character. For example, a new character would travel through a jungle to meet reptile, or go through the dimensions into Hell, then search through hell to find Scorpion, who would teach him arts of Ninjitsu and of the Shirai Ryu, his clan on earth.
that's all, sorry it's soo long.

I do agree with you on most parts but I do have a few things to say. I think that Frost has potential in MK and she has many possibliites so I think she should be in MK6 (as possibly a hidden character or something). MK6 should really focus on the Dragon King and not on Shang and Quan. Shang should be dead and Quan should be plotting to destroy the Dragon King and the Earthrealm fighters as well as other things. I'm glad that you brought up the Chinese mythology thing because that is really important to MK. However, MK wasn't and isn't just Chinese mythology but it also has some Japanese influences such as Kano, the Black Dragon, Raiden, Goro, Kintaro, etc. But anyway, MK6 should have that dark and mystical feeling to it. MKDA may not have been as dark and mystical as the first two MKs but it still had that MK feel to me. I agree with you on the Smoke and Sektor thing. Perhaps Sektor can team up with Mavado and the Red Dragon to destroy Sub-Zero and the new Lin Kuei clan. Sub-Zero will have a lot to deal with so yeah, he would need some help such as Smoke and maybe Cyrax. I think that Sonya's and Mavado's endings will have importance to Kenshi's future in MK6. He might go after Mavado since both Sonya's and Mavado's endings indicate how Kenshi was beaten by Mavado. I also agree with you that a lot of the characters need more to their storyline (IMO, people such as Jax, Scorpion, Sonya, Kitana, etc.). But anyway, I do appreciate you bringing up the mythological stuff.

The main thing that I want to know from mk6 is what is the connection between Reiko and Shao. Is Noob involved in some way.
I would also like guys like nughtwolf, kabal and stryker who had multiple weapons in UMK3 to make a comeback. I mean if mk has to get some RPG in it then after scorpion and sub zero the guy who can contribute the most is nightwolf. I badly want him back. With the new consoles I just can't wait to see his fatalities. In addition he also is the man who has a very mysterious character. Nothing is known about him completely.
But the one who should return is the original Kung Lao. He was the one who had been wining the battle for earth long before liu hence with Liu gone I think he should be brought back. Similarly the Elder Sub Zero should be brought back. I remember very well the hype that was created in the net when the pictures for sub zero of MKDA was published in the net who had no scar.
This guys will of couurse be on the earthrealm side but the story could take them through one to the other. Like Kabal was originally an ally of Kano so the story could start with that then proceed to his meeting with Stryker and changing sides and so on. That is a mythology type experience would be available for all.

STORYLINE
I think it would be interesting if the storyline was based around a war between different factions. Assuming that the DA won the last MK we could have the "world" in an emerging battle for its complete domination. We could have the Outword army, the Netherealm army, the Earth protectors and maybe even an Elder Gods faction. Of course, there would be some neutral characters with their own personal agendas.
I this scenario would provide the basis for some interesting arenas like a battleground where you could see a huge battle going on in the background as you fight, for example. It would also provide for a Tag Team mode allowing multiple fighters from one faction to take on another group of fighters from a different faction.
FIGHTING ENGINE
As for the fighting engine itself I think it will be the same as MK:DA which seems to be a good thing as long as they create more finishing moves. Since we can regard MK:DA as a new beginning in the series it is easy to admit this scenario (since MK2 brought enormous additions to finishing moves in comparison with MK1).
CHARACTERS
I'm also hoping that we see the return of Shao Kahn and a more evil portrait of Shang Tsung (I don't think he looks that evil lately as he did in MK1) maybe returning to his, yet unseen, original demon form. Sub-Zero and Scorpion are a must since MK wouldn't have the same "feel" without them. I'd also want to see characters like Liu Kang or Baraka coming back. IMO, in fighting games the more characters the merrier.

ooooh! (raises handbag)
I want to see photorealistic graphics (like the original mk), less unbelievable moves, and a fuller fighting system- with more moves and combinations (logical combinations) for all characters.
I`d rather have 2 styles than 3, or better still just one. Perhaps a weapon mode, and an unarmed mode separate.
I`d like to see a skin/dress a character mode, as i think `create a character` is unlikely to happen.
Skin/dress a character mode- you can dress your chosen character in togs unlocked in the crypt, (mix and match garments- not just whole separate costumes. Change colours too) and hairstyles and maybe different faces too.
Also- more camera angles. Maybe a movie director replay feature like in driver?

How about online tournaments? What about Motaro's succesor? I thought Motaro seriously kicked ass! Scorpion should kill the Oni's. That's really gay how they always beat him up.
