In the new MK Podcast (which was kinda interesting I must say). MK lead programmer for the past three MK's (MK:DA,MKD,MKA) responds to a question asked in the Midway forums:
"Because the testing for the last three MK's was sub par, when MK vs DC comes out, and it will probably have glitches, will we be able to download patches online?"
Now I was: A. Shocked that he answered it, B. Shocked at his response. He actually says: "Yeah! sure a video game that comes out will have glitches, the problem is that people get online and use it..." he also adds that he was insulted at first...
OH DEAR GOD. I hope every MK fan knows, and also Ed Boon, that you can pick Kenshi and press the X button (In PS) again, and again, and again, and the opponent can't do NOTHING.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Thk9UyboY7E
So sad, but true. The guy who allowed this glitch to be released is again, the guy responsible, for making sure MK vs DC comes out with no glitches... It's so sad...

Theres no need for this, queve already have a thread to discuss the podcast
I don’t think people need to be cruel about this.
I can understand the frustration, but Hector did talk with sincerity and with what I found to be plain honesty about his work and the love he has for his work.
I guess we can all agree that they need to test their games more deeply, but I also think we can agree that they are not being lazy or having the “we really don’t care” attitude towards fans.
Thanks MK Team! We love you! *hugs*

nice
they can give me a call/email and ill gladly fly out to midway for a day and test it.
in that respect, they read the boards and follow what fans are saying, but are they paying any attention to people such as myself who have probably put more hours into testing then they have making the damn game? certainly they cannot be that cruel.
so in that respect, they are cruel, very very cruel. considering many of the glitches followed forth from the previous 2 games. and everything except the impale didnt take more then 5-10 minutes to find. so i dont buy that whole "100s of thousands of combinations" shit, simply look at the loop time in kak, and you can see which moves recovered too fast to be repeated. mash cs in the air and youll find yourself air cancel. do a parry and a attack at the same time and find yourself parry cancels. everything else is past down from mkd, besides a few air glitches.
nice job, mate.

Pretty much there's a "polite way" to ask about it, and not assume so much. Granted, glitches were in the past 3 games...but glitches are ultimately in ALL games, thus why other xbox titles have patches....so I do hope we get patches to fix problems within the game, gameplay wise.
On a side personal note, I wouldn't mock someone who gets paid to test games, tries there best since chances are "the people mocking" wouldn't find every glitch themselves, unless your name is Check perhaps.

Yeah, MKA impale there's a glitch you can do but it's hard to do and nobody does it really.....one of those timing glitches.
I give lots of kudos to Check for pulling off these glitches, some of which very, very difficult but just note most players(including high level players) don't abuse most of the games glitches, other then Free throws and AC(some of which AC) example, I don't use AC and still do well most of the time
When it comes to the 3D games glitches, with the exception of FT's the more difficult ones Check makes look easy lol. Like Mariano Rivera closing for the Yankees, he makes it look easy but is tough as nails to do consistently

A little cringe worthy!
I'm not so much bothered by the sentiments, as much as the implication they think they're on par with other major releases. Hopefully that's saving face, more than naivity.
no one saying dude isnt spending time testing the game. the problem is that the dude clearly has no clue how to play the game.
if he had any clue, Sindel wouldnt have had the same throw in MKA as she did in MKD. it was a glitched fucked throw and needed to be removed from MKA. instead they left it in making her a shitty fighter again.
videos were made by myself w/ about 95% of the MKD glitches, Malone actually gave them to the MK team and they ignored all of our efforts and left about 50% of those glitches in MKA.
Throws are meant to keep players from over defending, when a person does a throw they arent suppose to be punished and yet if Sindel did a throw she could be killed instantly.
so now i respond to this post
as a matter of fact they clearly ignored the CD that malone made w/ the glitches from MKD and kept 50% of those glitches in MKA. they clearly showed that they dont really care about the fans of the fighting part of the game.
WE HANDED THEM THE PROBLEM W/ THEIR GAME (w/ Video footage) AND THEY IGNORED IT.

Hmmm, I had no idea you guys had actually sent them a CD with all the bugs and glitches from the game. Who did you give it to? Was it just mailed to Midway or handed to them personally?
Just curious.
And I see what you mean, it is a shame...I wonder if there was a reason why they didnt consider the CD. Either way, I have faith and hopes that this game will have a better and more balanced gameplay system then the past games. Im sure Hector is doing everything he can to make the game rock.

If I remember correctly someone gave it to Boon at last year's E3.

Mastermalone did the deed if I remember correctly. The response the guy gives is rather disappointing.

hjs-Q, people are getting pretty tired of this bullshit. Please don't let anybody yank your chain. This guy could have been just joking, you have no idea what the context or the circumstances of which he said all this.
I think I speak with alot of people when I say, we are exhausted by this whole mess.
And no, pressing fucken x with Kenshi is not an infinite. Get a clue and learn how to play a game, not to mention there is no need to even use a combo breaker to get out of that one. People are so lame around here. Later.

WOW,I actually do agree that the main problem with games against people online in anygame,is that they tend to use glitches they found to win.
Its not that their there thats the problem, mainly cause every game has a glitch or two here and there. But when you the user or gamer uses these glitches to always win it ruins the game.Granted there have been way to many glitches in the past MK games to over look who ever is testing it.Hell even MGS4 has glitches in that game.My point is,theres no way to make sure the game has zero problems, but with patches they should be able to make things right down the road after the game has been released.
My personal view about glitches or infin combos has always been, don't use them online playing against ppl to win.And if you are, then just make sure the other person knows how to as well.I'm not saying using glitches isn't easy to do,but their not the right way to win.

I'm also getting tired. I'm very tired of trying to get a MK game with a proper engine since freaking 1997.
Are you aware that the MK team were handed with written documents and a CD showing every glitch in MKD, and half of those glitches were not even fixed in MKA (not to mention the new glitches that were found with air cancel and parry cancel.).
No one is saying a game can't have glitches. Even Tekken 5 had an infinite. But!, you do know that MKD had more than 300 diferent glitches. 300!!!!
Infinites and glitches were found in MKA in it's very first day of realese. I don't understand how can any MK fan just accept it...
And yes, you can infinite to death with Kenshi, and no, it's not breakable, get a clue, try it. And perheps it's not clear enough...
Few more stuff from the "BeSt GAMe EVEEER!1!!11" Mortal Kombat Armageddon:
MKA Air Cancel Infinite - CAN BE DONE WITH ALMOST EVERY CHARACTER IN THE GAME
Havik MKA Infinite
Hotaru MKA Infinite
Jade MKA infinite
Moloch MKA infinite
There are many, many more. Those are just a few. Perheps check will post some more...

leave the guy alone he has one o the best jobs in the world and i think every MK fan envies him so stop giving him s**t about what he does he obviously tries his best in what he does and he clearly wants to do well by the fans of the game so i personally give him a thumbs up for his work. I would love to do what he does I have no idea what to do to get there in hes position of testing but id love it Armageddon was such a huge game would be testing it for years to test it all I didnt like armageddon that much because i prefer MKDA for gameplay but thats just my opinion............they will give us the best they can with this game you can see it in Boons face that he wants to take it to its limits i dont think he will disappoint us come on Ed and all the MK team we all know you can do it and we all believe in you
SHOW US WHAT MK HAS TO OFFER AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. SHOW US THAT IT CAN KICK SOME ASS!!!!!!!!!!

Meh, I'll take this thread and put my posts here:
Question 1 came from this page, user "RedSaleen"; the 9th post down. And the same basic question asked by user "BobbyBlaze", on the following page; 6th post down. And other people on the same page quoted that question. Users like: Kabelfritz, ChaosTheory, Inevitable, DRSlceman, eazytobeat ...ect
Question 2 is a really general question I've seen alot of people ask. So, not a surprise they answered that one.
Question 3 is a really general question I've seen alot of people ask. So, not a surprise they answered that one.
Question 4 came from this page, user "OddBrother"; the second post down.
Peace of mind for those folks who got their questions answered I hope. Just posting this to make sure that those people know that they answered you specifically.
=====
My take?
Nothing substantial talked about in this one. Well actually, considering "who", or "what kind of fan" asked the first question that they answered, that's probably the most damning answer that they could've given in reply to those online players. Let's be honest about it, they basically confirmed for you guys, that they really do care about you and your opinion, but they're not gonna do anything about it. (8min15sec into the podcast is where the first question starts being answered)
I am so sorry for us all.
Those players who asked that question, wanna make sure that MK sells to the "gamers". Those people who asked that 1st question, are trying to make sure that the game plays well. And that, my friends, indefinitely effects the rest of us(Like me, who are not really that heavy online, but really do recognize that there are things wrong with the game when I play it. An infinite here, faulty camera mechanic there..ect).
Having fans "Understand" that the objective is to make a game that doesn't need fixes after the game is released, is irrelevant to a fan. And they even confirm this by stating that "every game has bugs and glitches".
*shakes head*
Look, not wanting to at least consider patches is kinda detrimental to that crowd of game player, don't you think? Begs to question once again "who are they trying to sell this game to" - - with a selling point like "Wait til you play it".
Why? When we know every game has bugs//glitches// and such, And now we know (cuz you just told us) that you're not gonna pay attention to those things after we find them and tell you "which bugs" are "where" in the game? After we buy the game, mind you....
Did I get that right? Somebody confirm that I heard that from them clearly.
It's like, you jump on the podcast to reassure people that the game will be good, and emphasize that the gameplay is better than we are able to equate......, and then, give an answer that is equivalent to the exact opposite of reassurance? lol
Gameplay is the most important aspect of a game, hands down. Y'can't even argue with that. And if the gimmicks(free fall, and close combat..mainly) won't have more attention paid to them as gimmicks, suffice to say "regular gameplay mechanics".....then what are we looking forward to again?
Graphics? - Boon confirmed that they recognized that the graphics weren't on par with other games of this generation in one of the recent mag interviews(MKvsDC's graphics are not as "pretty". Something to that effect). Looks "good enough", no doubt, so I'm not complaining right here. But, what was the sacrifice of great graphics for? Better gameplay? That's the assumption anyway.
Story? - In this podcast, they tell us that everything happening in this game is irrelevant /or/ non-canon. Only thing that is cannon, is the make up of the characters themselves. "A characters history", for example. Sooo, I guess that means that Sub-Zero is a Lin Kuei Warrior who's brother was killed by Scorpion at some point....and that Batman's parents got killed and he lives in Gotham City. DUH?
Atmosphere? - Isn't the atmosphere of "MK" jeopardized a little bit with DC arenas in there? lol
Fatalities? - Probably. Buuut then, there the whole T rated issue.
--
Bottom line? This particular podcast felt like the trailer. It was MK content, but what?!? lol
