do u guys think that the new costums, players and story of MK r going great? or do u wish we had some of the old stuff such as old levels and old costums?

There's probably gonna be a zergrush of people screaming for old school or death, but I'm pretty happy with both old and new school - but I think new school's story is weakening. We'll just have to wait for all of the bios to come out.

Awesome, a Star Craft reference.
As for me, I think all of the games had good stories...except MK1. That was basically "Enter The Dragon" but with different people. Back to the point though, I think the story has been going uphill ever since Deadly Alliance lew the roof off the joint. My only complaint so far is that Smoke has yet to be developed, Onaga didn't get to do much, and Armageddon seemed a bit rushed.
One old thing that I think would be kool to bring back though is to give every ninja character an alternate costume that's a 3D version of their old palette swap attires like with Scorpion in Deception and Armageddon. Other than that, I say the new stuff beats the old stuff.

well new costume, players re going good but story is is not going great becouse they always change story in new mk game
Agh, personally, I really disliked how they made Scorpion's alternative costume his MK4/Gold outfit in Deception and Armageddon. I was really looking forward to something related towards his "Champion of the Elder God's" title. I can't remember if he was embedded with powers, or just named as the Champion, but an alternative costume pertaining to his status would have been nice.
I can't stand that freaking latex costume, old school or not. I would have opted to create a whole new costume, preferably stay away from his MKDA alternate, and keep his MK4 outfit as a third costume (though that rule would have to follow suit for everyone else).
I can't really say I'm fond of the old school games. Legendary? Sure. Up-to-date with modern times? Not really, not the way they tried to relive things in MKD. I'd prefer they kept moving forward, and keeping in some "Old School" things to keep the vets happy, while adding new stuff to please everyone.

I think they all equal out in their own ways but they all have their own different flaws as well.
Mortal Kombat I
It was all like Tournament blah blah! Mortal Kombat has warped my fragile little mind into believing there is no more tournament ( which is technically true but whatever)...And plus some characters had some bad moves. For Example, Johnny Cage, some famous movie star etc... has the power to shoot green balls??? Wtf??? I understand Sub Zero's freeze attack, its like his clans power. And Scorpion idc what you say his attacks are the shit anyways lol.
Mortal Kombat II
Facing execution to the apparent death of Goro, Tsung convinces Shao Khan to grant him another chance etc... This game revived into a good story line. Khan made Shang Tsung bring Earthrealm fighters to OutWorld. I like that very nice coming on out... But I didnt like the new Shokan guy coming...( though now I like Kintaro). I didnt like Liu Kang in this game either...
Mortal Kombat III
A revived version of MKII IMO (though the story goes on with Liu Kang beating him then Khan running away blah blah blah... But I see it as a newer MKII
Mortal Kombat IV
Gave us some new characters, made 3-D in which made it very good. But it is not all that great( it was GOD for its time though lol). I thought Jarek was retarded, and making Tanya was really gay...
Mortal Kombat DA
It was a very good game, second best story so far (MKII the best IMO).The Deadly Alliance, perfect! lol! I wasn't really fond of killing Liu Kang but i slightly didnt care also. I loved them making Kung Lao technically main character and they should have kept it that way. But the game also had plenty of flaws... Frost??? wtf??? And Drahmin??? again WTF???
Mortal Kombat D
Very great... Brought back one of my favorites, Kabal. The story went to hell here though
Mortal Kombat A
Very good, best of 3-D. Has everything we asked for (pretty much),every character (pretty much).Though I didnt like the Taven Brother shit...
They all are great games, but with Flaws.... So neither Old School or New School Win IMO

What does everyone have against the old ninja costume? I guess I'm the only super hero fan on this board and thusly don't go out of my way to notice that the old ninja costume was skin tight. Anyway, to answer your question Ailettes, I don't know. I guess the Elder Gods gave Scorpion some special powers with his Championship since he either beat Onaga on his own or helped Shujinko do so. As for giving him a special costume, wasn't that what his primary was? 'Cause it wasn't the same thing he wore in Deadly Alliance.
And about your rating for MK4 UlcaTron, I HATED MK4! Sorry. I just think that EVERYTHING about MK4 was horrible from its new characters, to it's crappy villain, to it's lame attempt at 3D that was poorly executed. Also, I found MK3 was very different from MK2. MK2 hadn't yet gotten a sense of who these characters were and they basically had a clone of the original Sub-Zero. By 3 they added the whole ninja cyborg thing, a legion of Shao Kahn's enemies, established Kahn as the true villain, and started introducing realms other than Earth, Nether, and Outworld...sure, it was only Edenia but MK2 didn't have that.

I'm going to be a little redundant and a bit of hypocrite here for a second and reply to Sadisdik Chuck.
I feel that the old costumes were in fact awesome (Thanks for being the only guy to agree with me on that.). However, having the wide variety of new ninja garbs (And Reptile's new body.) gives them all an identity and shows that Midway isn't lazy. As stated earlier, I think the best course of action would be to have all of the ninjas have their own primary costumes and then have an alternate costume that's a 3D rendition of their palette swap attires...or what Ailettes suggested what with having two story-based costumes and then a third costume which the ninjas could use as their "retro" duds.
And, in a somewhat related manner since it concerns old things, I'd like to see Friendships come back. Not Brutalities, Babalities, and Animalities, just Friendships and Fatalities.
Some minor things I think that should have stayed the same but didn't
-Kintaro's win in Armageddon should have been his old MK2 win, not Goro's win.
-Shang Tsung should have looked different in this game than he did in Deadly Alliance to keep up with the whole "Shang Tsung never kept the same look twice gimmick." Though his lack of a change here might be associated with how he didn't recieve any more powerful Shao Kahn in between DA and Armageddon unlike how he did in MK2 and MK3.
-Motarro should have four legs ASAP...However, I hear they're already working on that so...keep it up Midway.
-Baraka should have had a dropkick like Scorpion in Deception because that was his jumping kick in MK2. Also, I would have bet money that Baraka would have had a dropkick, not a single leg kick that doesn't knock foes down.

Just thought about victory poses, and something else just came to mind. Some characters have a special getup after they lose a round (Scorpion spears the air, Sub-Zero shoots himself on his feet with ice, etc.), but not all of them have it. It's no big deal, but I would have liked to see everyone have their own unique getup, even if it's just color swapping like Ermac and Shinnok's. Very worthless nitpick, but I would have liked to see it nonetheless.
While I'm nitpicking, did anyone else notice they changed Sub-Zero voice? I was so happy with his "OhlookIdideet!" warcry whenever he used Cold Shoulder in MKD.
I believe they gave it Raiden though.
Excluding unimportant little bits, I would like to see a mix of Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur III's gameplay. Soul Calibur III didn't utilize combos as much as Mortal Kombat, does, but a balance between them would be great. If anyone has played Soul Calibur III, there are so many different attacks compared to MK, at which point MK makes up in combos and juggles. I think the best thing about SC3 though, is the ability to cancel moves; that'd be great to trick parry-happy opponents.
Also, anyone else feel we need to lose Aerial Kombat? Urgh...

Graphical texture and the fact that they were real people....I say old. BUT....
The way the ninjas were re-done was greatly apprecieated....for that I say new.
Everybody else kinda depends on who we're talking about costume-wise.
I prefer the Old 2D, high action style gameplay-wise though..it was just better pre-Mk4. Going through this greater part of a 10yr dry spell has really soured the potential to like the 3D Mortal Konbats' past graphic appeal....and then I generally HATE the plastic-looking characters...like I said, it depends on who we're talking about.
Story gets a nod for Old-School. Vogel & team aren't bad when they get to it, but I wouldn't be disapointed if we got better, deeper story-writters....I don't even know what that means exactly...I just have never seen so many possible...possibilities in any story before.
It's extremely irritating having to try and "figure out" what's real(cannon) and what's not real(non-cannon)" Who likes to be played with like that anyway? Picture it like reading a book over and over again with key points being tangable or variables. Maybe I'm a nut job...probably not.
New school gets a nod for opening FmV's. I love 'em. There's nothing better than seeing your character playing thier part out on screen. As you invision them no doubt, seeing them use their powers in action, outside of the game it'self. I Really hope they keep using these and even more so for stuff like endings and small story tellings...
New School gets the vote for RpG's too....just stay the course and it'll be fine.
Over-All I'd say "New" but only if it were with prominent elements from the Old....

IN MY OPINION, THE OLD SCHOOOL 2D GAMES ARE BETTER THAN THE NEW AGE ONES. I HAVE EVERY SINGLE ONE AND THATS POSSIBLY THE REASON WHY I THINK THE WAY I DO. DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT THOUGH, YOU HAVE TO EXPIRIENCE THEM FOR YOUR SELF TO MAKE A FIRM CHOICE. MOST PEOPLE MIGHT SAY THE NEW AGE GAMES ARE BETTER THAN THE 2D ONES THOUGH.

That is possibly the most retarded post on this forum ever. No offense, but spelling is all wrong, too many smilies, you refer to graphics of a game from 1993, which MK's graphics were actually good at the time, and wth is UC?

Duuude.... !!
It's like, the fourth time i'm warning you:
DO NOT POST IN ALL CAPS
you're getting skulled all the way as i remember...
Anyways, i guess i can't compare the two different eras.
2D or 3D, whatever!
2D was awesome, but its time is over, 3D was pretty excelent too, but it will suffer a revolution in MK8, so forget about it.
The two eras make a history. This history could never be built without one of the eras, so, i guess they are all execelent, and none of them overpowers the other.

UMK3 actually is a lot more balanced and plays better gameplay wise then MKT does but both are fun.
