the game looks very elaborate, i must say. the way they made this game is completly original from other fighting games.

the recovery on popups is rather slow, leaving very little to add after it ( they are too low by the time you recover to juggle very much, but im sure this is just one popup for one character proof of that is in the next obversation )

i caught a glimpse of a sonya juggle at the very end, it indeed looked alot like juggling in tekken or virtua fighter. as well as a much better recovery after the popup, ( i dont remember what it was though, ill download the file when its available to see )

jump punches launch now, just like drahmins jump punch did in MKDA. i thought i even saw deep kicks at the very begining.

the jumping looks alot like mka, but you jump much more further now. still going to be an important aspect to high level

saw a few 3 hit dials in there. but the moves these things linked into didnt neccesarily mean popups after it. they were plenty of free hits after it such as supermans ice breath, an unusual leg grab by scorpion and batman i believe. a teleport punch by flash that looked like frosts teleport punch in mka.

the jabs look much clearer to see coming at you. the specials look like they either come out too fast to react to or way too slow.

as mentioned about freefall kombat, it looked way too long and slow

i thought i heard something about more then 2 characters on screen at once

there is literally no reaction time in klose kombat. it is a total rock scissor paper game. it is initiated by grabs as i expected.

from what i saw these characters looked the strongest, in order:

1) Flash
2) Superman
3) Sonya
4) Catwoman


the rest is pretty much even, but i guess:

5) Sub Zero
6) Batman
7) Scorpion
8) Shang Tsung

as mentioned, supermans ice breath looks very cheesy, and has way too much priority over attacks.

sonyas kiss has almost full screen range.

anyway, that was really fun. kind of hard to get a grasp on the gameplay yet. but definitly the juggling system is different now. only 2 popups end the combo now, and as i mentioned about sonya, it looked similar to tekken.

the way the characters move was a bit odd to me, i dont know what it is. i cant quite place my finger on it.. seemed sort of like how an adventure game would move and feel.

im very impressed by the special moves though, they werent lying when they said they were very well done, however. this game is looking to be a special fest. which is exactly what they need to get away from. but i love the elaborateness of how its implemented. totally original and alot of thought put into it.

VF5 blows this away in the graphics department and its 2 years old

I really liked how they showed Scorpion without his mask and it reviled skull.
I thought that was pretty Bad Ass.
And I've been waiting for them to bring back scorpion's Tosty Fatality since Mk 4.
It has been way WAY to long.
Other than that the gameplay looks amazing. Like it's going back to it roots a bit. I also like how Superman was stringing attacks together. Looks to be an amazing game! and I can't wait

Looks like MKDA-A with new characters, honestly.

That's probably the main thing that I didn't like about the way things looked to work in those teasers that were shown. And that's from the perspective of someone who noticed the glitches, bugs, timing of things, and such.

You should judge for yourself if you don't understand what I'm speaking of.

This is still a no buy, definitely rent for me. Hopefully they allow Check to get in there and exploit all the stuff that seems to be present.

Free Fall looks retarded iMo, not just cuz it's slow, but because they didn't show anything else impressive about it but a couple different camera angles. Once from an angled top down view, once from the view we've seen already of it, once from another similar angle.

Still Nothing impressive so far.

On the other hand, Sonya looks like she has all her specials. BUT she moves like MKDA-MKA....., like everybody they showed did.

Superman seems to do a bit of floating, and has maneuvers that sends the opponent up in the air with him, then he knocks them down to the ground, then he casually floats down to the ground. He also has his freeze breathe, his lazer eyes, and a ground pound like Jax.

I've never know Superman to have Jax's ground-pound, but it looks lame regardless to me.

Um..what else?

Shang Tsung looks fantastic in-game. He has a straight up fireball(comes down on your head like Sub-Zero's MK3 Ice move where he raises his hand), he has his once straight across fireball like in MK1-T where he could shoot multiple fireballs...and then I saw that he has his move has him "summon: a fireball or two from the ground up, His look is the most impressive over the MKDA-A Alts though. He also has a teleport that looks like a mix between MKD-A Noob Saibot or Reiko, where they come up from the ground with a punch or something, and Dairous "fiery" teleport. The "effect" is "fiery" the maneuver is Noob Saibot.

I know I missed something...but it will come to me, and I will explain it in detail for those who haven't seen it yet.

Yeah I'll admit, shadowcat, it's nowhere near Soulcalibur or Virtua Fighter, but I'm happy enough for the improvements they've done since DA, D, and A all pretty much had the same washed up graphics.

Sure it would have been nice to see some graphical competition with the other popular fighting franchises, but I'm not disappointed by their direction. It's just nice to finally see an improvement to next-gen.

Holy Hell! I just watched/recorded the Gametrailers episode and now Im picking my jaw up off the ground. Amazing! OMG! Did you see the battle damaged Superman? Sonya has her great moves back. Shang Tsung looks badass! Im giddy like a schoolchild over that Metropolis stage transition. Then there is Catwoman. My god, Im not getting off to pixels here, but shes wearing the hell out of that purple body suit, and she has some very cool moves. This is now my most anticipated game of the year.

Didn't show anything like that, so I don't want to lead you on. Just wanted to state what I saw...specifically.

Y'know? Not so much "what they said", because as we know, what they say can be really elusive most of the times. Just wanted to list what I saw that was actually in the game.

And at the same time, you gotta watch the thing once it hits the net in order to get your own opinion about what I saw. Because you very well could disagree with me about it. I believe you should have that privilege above all of anyones opinions///including mine. So I stayed away from my opinions for that first post or two.

Again, I don't want to try and lead you to believe something that isn't there. And I don't want to try and quote something they said on the show...cuz you could take it differently than I did. That part is up to you to interpret.

Should be a little bit longer before we get the vids on the net.

maybe a couple hrs or so...so I'd have you be cool with the facts that I've given for a little bit, so that you can watch and gain your own stand point on it for yourselves

I only hope the gameplay is "smoother" when the product is finished, it feels a bit too much like MKA, so I hope that changes.

...and well, as some already know, I also hope for Poison Ivy, but considering its very unlikely that we will see 2 females announced and no males, I guess it could be:

Also i think they would put shao khan in the game and he was playable in armageddon so why not in this one
all the others im not really sure about either

I'm happy to hear that they are bringing scorpion's classic toasty fatality back. I hope they make it real cool though. I would love to see the character burn and his body turn to a skeleton. I remember Mk4's version...but i didn't like how the character just ran around and fell to the ground burning...there was no change in the character's appearance...i hope they change that this time around and show how the fire disintegrates the body into a skeleton...that would be so cool!

Also, i have a feeling they will give shang tsung a cool soul steal fatality..like Mk2's fatality..that would be real cool too!

1) at around 18:45 , it appears the ability to dash forward is back ( either a run button or double tap forward ) this is probably what is used to go through walls of buildings, or maybe even increase combo capabilitys hopefully not to a ridiculous manner

2) so far i havent seen any 2 hit combos that could lead to infinites. sub zeros 3 hit combo looks like it can repeated once, such as daegons 111 in FJP

3) after the first jab in a juggle, the opponent starts to fall faster and more on a angle. this will prevent too high damaging of combos

4) catwomans flipkick specials looks like it can be repeated in a combo, depending on its plant properties, or if its a popup.

5) after you break out of klose kombat, neither kombatant gets frame advantage

6) batman has a unusual blocking animation by using his cape, im curious would that could be

7) green life bars. no signs of breakers in the corners. ( yet )

8) sub zero has his ice shaker back from MKDA. seems very tricky. he also has his slide back, which looks way too slow and should be ducking under supermans ice breath

9) scorpions 2 hit combo leads into a OTG. ( the leg grab ) hopefully that is just the given animation at any height during a juggle. his 2 hit combo looks like it can be repeated quite a while. it looks almost like 2 in Silat with no recovery.

10) Sub Zero has a low attack that leads into a uppercut. hopefully this low attack cannot be repeated into a infinite.

11) and heres one for you queve ; ) Sonyas Bike Kick looks like it is initiated by Tanyas Drill Kick animation. it comes out real fast, and looks like it could possibly be a low attack.

Btw, though it is obviously too early to tell, Im curious to know if you saw (judging from what you’ve seen of course) anything that could suggest a broken game. Someone mentioned something about Superman being broken, but I think its too early to judge by just some fast shown vids of the gameplay.

oh, its my pleasure queve. youve been a great member here, one of the nicest guys around! im glad to finally talk to you after all these years, hehe

i wouldnt be concerned with what we have seen as far as the characters. its not something thats going to make the game unplayable.

but its more towards a problem that has existed in the past few MK games with the core programming for each players controller. believe it or not, it is different for both sides, which makes it unfair.

1) certain combos only work for p1 or p2
2) certain glitches only work for p1 or p2
3) recoverys are different

everything is different. this is the only thing that i am concerned about, and i posted about it before mka came out in hopes i would hear back about it. i did, they said they knew nothing about it.


the most important part it effects is online. it gives player 1 way too much advantage of the camera. you literally can sidestep and not be tracked at all even moves that are supposed to follow you, but dont.

jumpkicks are entirely different, player 1 can jump all day on player 2 and theres nothing he/she can do about it. but when player 2 jumps at player 1, since player 1 has so much control of how the camera works, theres literally no chance of connecting a jumpkick, or anything. the gap is too small, the camera would have to be in a certain spot to connect on a certain part of the body

im telling you, as a loyal fan, this is all 100% accurate and is a major problem for online.

but that it exists offline is the core of th problem. if both sides were programmed the same, then none of this would carry over to online. even at that, online would still have to be tested to make sure of these things.

that is my main and only problem with the game before its released. it has to be addressed or else the game from my eyes. ( no need to fear ill still play it ) would be a failure.

im guessing they started to do this because it was randomly chosen before a round started who would get these kind of advantages in the earlier MKs

again, ive stressed this to people for years, i really hope at least if i cant help them out that this question about their programming for player 1 and player 2 gets asked so i can see what they say and respond and help them. currently i cannot register to midway.com to ask ( and thank you guys for your support ) them about it. i would love to know

but other then that, the game is looking very simple as of now, and not to worry. the game will be fine, everyone will adjust to it, it may seem awkward at first, but we will all grow to enjoy it. i can promise you that! ; )

Wow, the online stuff (glitches, p1 and p2 disadvantages) you mention sound awful. I hope they fix that. Thanks for the info and for your answers.

It's been great talking to you as well, and its very cool to see someone who cares a lot about gameplay instead of just focusing on Flashes lips and characters hair colors. You've been very kind and helpful. Thanks man! grin grin

I really hope the MK team has the chance to talk with you and hear your thoughts, you truly know your stuff and care enough about it to do something positive for the MK world. Congrats man.
