You're right. Most characters in there were actually placement fillers for the roster.

Jarek = Kano
Tanya = Kitana

In my personal opinion, I don't think it has anything to do with the characters themselves. I think it has more to do with the poor reception that MK4 had with many of the fans. It retained the feeling of Mortal Kombat but didn't make any new leaps in gameplay or graphics. It just didn't go over like they had planned, hence the complete overhaul for Deadly Alliance.

Although most of them were lost on originality or quality, they can easily bring back a lackluster character and make he/she into something totally new and unique.

Just look at Nightwolf, he got his second chance. There may be luck for the cast of MK4 again.

to be honest mortal kombat 4 is a game i never really experienced. After MK3, (which was pretty good in my book) i stopped having an interest in the series...i think it was when it went 3-D. If you placed all those characters pictures out on a table and asked me who reiko was or kai i couldnt tell you. Maybe it's just me, but i'd rather have characters return from mkII and 3, and so does midway as those games (especially mkII) launched the series into a huge franchise and developed a huge fan base. that's just my opnion.

I never really got into MK4, but i wouldnt mind seeing the characters come back. They would just need original storylines and fighting styles.

I wasnt into the characters on MK4 that much. Reiko, Tanya, and Jarek were just pure lame in my opinion. Jarek seems like a kano rip off, and tanya just sucks over all. Reiko is alright, but doesnt have good development.

Exaclty. If they were to bring them back, they would need complete and total overhauls......

as i said yeah, they're lame rip-offs like tany of kitana and kai of liu kang (a little bit more enhanced though) but i think it was just because the rush of midway for not losing attention or the image of the game, they have a lot of potential if used correctly, you might trash tanya, but kai, jarek and reiko might have some future

Tanya could be a formidable fighter if they redesign her fighting and special moves.......

Apart from Quan Chi, who's still around, the only MK4 character I think has any potential is Kai. The caperoia was a cool idea, and it would be great if that became one of his styles. The other MK4 newbies were all just space filler replacemants, which is why they never really took off with fans.

i think eventually some will get a chance to return like kai, fujin, reiko. but those are the only ones i would like to see come back and also jarek but only if he comes back to join the black dragon with kano and kabal.

As said, they were all just fillers. None of them had any bearing or point to the story. Fujin is the only character from MK4 that I would actually want to come back.

There WILL be some returning faces in MKD from MK4.

I wish Kai would come back, I really liked him in MK4.

I liked Reiko too.

i think it would be cool to have sum of them return because it does seem like they were really forgotten, i did like Fujin though he was cool, i loved his wind powers

Tanya is not a rip-off of Kitana. The model was going to be used for Kitana. But they decided to recolor her, Give her a name, Story and her own moves.

I would love to see Fujin, Reiko and Shinnok return. Jarek was cool looking, Some potential... But Kai was absolutely horrible. If they bring him back, He needs completely new moves.

The only missing MK4 character I would like to see return is Fujin, and only if Ashrah is not a new immortal ally of Raiden's. If you got three gods on one side it just not right. However, if Ashrah is a mortal or an enemy it would be great to have the old windbag back.

theres a point there but i think the best was Fujin and had the most potential and he was forgoten Elder God but good idea man they are the forgotten generearion......

anyone remember MEAT and Dhramin hmm.. Meat was a corpse from MK4 and Dhramin is a corpse makes u think maybe it was done without them relizing it

Drahmin didnt really seem like a corpse. He was was a demon from the neatherealm, his flesh is just rotted. Meat was just a bloody skeleton with little pieces of human meat hanging from his bones.

Fujin and Quan Chi are the only characters with TRUE potential. I like MK4 for 2 reasons only:

1- Reptile
2- Quan Chi

Shinnok had a ton of potential but Midway fucked him up by making him look dumb and having no original moves whatsoever. He was also playable which is wrong for an MK boss.

Reiko could have potential but Midway should kill him off in MKD. Like show everyone that he was a decoy for Kahn and that's who Quan and Shang really killed while Kahn was away.

dude... that was the first I've heard of the Reiko acting as a decoy (deception anyone?) for Khan and he ends up getting killed instead... and what a sweet ass idea, though I liked Reiko and would like to see him return minus that stupid looking kick move.

Reiko, Shinnok, Fujin and Quan are the ones who shoudl return.
