What You Think The Unexpected Thing Will Be. [MK8]

Educated guessers, this is the thread for you.

Post what you think Boon's unexpected thing will be for MK8.

First of all, let me say that if this "unexpected" thing is something very new to fighting games, it could make or break the game. Not everything new will be well-received and the bigger this unexpected thing is, the bigger chance it gives the game to suck.

I personally think it will be something like the 3-fighting-style idea. That was innovative. It didn't really make the gameplay anymore different than having 2 fighting styles... but it was innovative.

I think it'll be something like that. More specifically, I'm guessing it'll be something that makes the gameplay more technical. I've got this feeling that MK8 will come with the most technical gameplay ever in the series, but I don't know of course.

If that's what it is, it could make the gameplay funner or worse, depending on how it's executed and how it will feel to us gamers.

Anyway, that's my guess.

I think the surprise will be how fan contrived the game seems.

"they actually listened to us this time", type of feel about it.

Could be completely false in actuality, but the notion would get everybody amped.

It's either that, or some new way to interact or inter-communicate MK stuff some kind of way. That's what the new consoles are about anyway. "Bringing people together like an Arcade used to."

I think that when Boon was talking about the "unexpected thing", he was referring to the likes of the fighting system. Maybe the unexpected thing might be something involving online content like MMORPG stuff or some kind of very arcade-type feel to the fighting system. Either way, I hope it'll be worthwhile.

it will make us want tomorrow to come quicker so we can play it or keep us awake playing it or skive off school/work whatever

maybe tournament mode is coming back
or a choose 1 from a list of characters and have him/her the only one that returns and have a loading screen of them ect
that all for now

Hoping has thus far gotten us a big pile of shit. We need to just expect news in July and not get too excited for anything inbetween now and then.

THAT WAY, if we DO happen to get news by July, we are pleasantly surprised.

A new story line for Scorpion?
Oh no, let me guess, the unexpected is Quan Chi will survive again...
Yay...

Perhaps we can expect some form of an MK: Hero or Mortal Kombat: Band, what with these genre of games being all the rage recently, it seems plausible.
I'm just going to assume it either a new mini game or (hopefully) an exciting plot line for ALL characters, and not have some of them rushed.
Or better still, an adventure mode very much like Shaolin Monks?
(Come to think of it, that's not really unexpected, we're all kind of hoping for that...)

Here it is: Mortal Kombat 8 coming November 2010 for PS4, Xsegabox, and Nintendo Whoopty fu**ing Do.
I hope it ends up awesome tho. Hell maybe its so great it comes with two disks.

I see that as a good thing, although MKT was never in the arcades. + with the new TV and surround sound I am getting, it better be worth ittongue

Personally, I think it would be good if, in the vein of a new "gritty and realistic" approach, the backdrop and characters were much more "modern". Rather than 89% of the cast being these supernatural beings from another dimension, the vast majority are regular human beings who can fight who get caught up in the supernatural, which was, really, most like the first Mortal Kombat game (where the only non-Earthrealm character you could select was Raiden... and to a lesser degree Scorpion). With all these bigs realms, such as Chaos, Order, Earth, Edenia, Outworld, Neatherrealm, and Armageddon taking place, I think scaling it back a bit rather than stretching themselves thin would be appreciated. Will it happen? Er, probably not, but if it was probable, then it wouldn't be "unexpected" now would it?

Maybe UMK3. The others, no. Sorry.
Arrghh..wrong thread to get me started.
Anyways, in all seriousness, I have a feeling it is going to be a type of "virtual arcade"...where you can travel around a virtual MK world/realm and challenge people that way.
That or they will make the Konquest mode a partial mmo. That would be new and interesting to me.
