I know that there going to wipe the slate clean but which fighting style would you like to see return if you had to choose.......mine is hands down Yan Yang *frost MKDA/Kira MKA* what about you guys?
I would like to see some sort of ground based fighting like the ability to break limbs in combat.
One thing MK has always been rubbish at is throws.
I would like to see some kind of king from tekken style grappling where different button combos execute different throws.
Or how about a god of war system where in a grapple different buttons trigger different attacks.

God OF War Def Rocked cant wait for GOW3 it's gonna be SWEET! but I don't think MK will have scrubs going around with Blade of Athena or any other GOW it's to massive and would take far to much damage.....but as I said Yan Yang by far is the best fighting style

The entire grapple system needs to change. Throws have been complete shit in MK for a long time. They need to incorporate a variety of throws based on your position to your opponent (front, crouch, sides, rear) among others.

Definetly Dragon, it was based more on defensive fighting. But when used correctly it has various grapples and strikes. Lastly sub uses it

You really shouldn't base your analysis on how the fighting style worked in previous games. This is going to be a whole new engine and everything will be built from the ground up from scratch. Goodbye DA era.

I'd like to see each character have their own unique style, unlike the interchangeable styles from DA-A. But as for actual styles that I would like to see them use, I think Capoeira, Wushu, and Tony Jaa-style Muay Thai would make nice additions.
Personally, I would also like a MUCH bigger emphasis on grapples and counters.

I want to see chain throws. I seriously would love to go Armor King on someone's ass.

The thread title made me think it was "What NEW fighting style would you like to see". That's a much better question.

well we all know that there going to be all "NEW" moves in the game thats a givin but I know ppl love a certain fighting style and I was wanting to see who if any would like there favorite FS back, for example another one I love is raidens FS in deception the other one which noones seems to know where it went.....but I guess if you want to add new stuff by all mean talk about it, I myself think that yaun yang should be brought back cause it kicks all ass in MK hands down kira rules in mka
I would like to see Hapkido return, that was my fav....... but seriously who cares what fighting style they use (i don't) Mortal Kombat is fine with or without the fighting styles being named. i think that each character should only have one "style" but still differentiate them with a different "style" or stance. I don't think they should be confined by a certain style, they should more or less fight the way there character would fight. It's mortal kombat for crying out loud, the fate of the world is in their hands, do we really think that they are going to stick to text book tae-kwon-do. No there gonna do what it takes to get it done..... sorry about that, whoa don't know where that rant came from lol. Oh I also would love to see dragon return, it was my second fav. what i would really like to see though is Scorpion swinging his harpoon around like he did in shoalin monks as inferno scorp. I'm not sure what that style is called in real life... i think i saw Jackie chan do it with a fire hose, or something.... but anyhow that would be cool to see.

I don't care what fighting styles are in as long as they look authentic. I want good animations with smooth flow as if I were watching a real fighter. Not some stiff plastic toy.
I hate to compare MK with other games, but something like VF's realistic marital arts would be nice. Moves that not only work good but look pleasing to the eye. MK did about half of that.

I would also prefer if the fighting styles didn't share similar punches and kicks like in the previous gen MKs. All moves should be unique to each fighting style.

Well that's too bad, because a lot of real flighting styles do in fact have similar punches and kicks...

all very good answers, I myself would like to see a fighting style that doesnt take 50 + percent damage off of you, I get tired of playing ppl and 3 wrong moves and your done lol noob for example 1 long kombo is 50 + percent, I think they had it right in mk3 & mk4 with only like 4 or 5 hit kombos and did you forget in mk4 they had a maxium damage and stopped the fighting for a sec? lol

yer like you can break there arms so they cant hit as hard or there leg so they lose speed

I'd like that too. It didn't really work out for Tao Feng, but I'm sure they can pull it off for the next MK game. We don't need any authentic fighting styles, we just need a freely combo-based system like the old MK games. More along the lines of Killer Instinct. That game had no fighting styles but the combo system was fast, fun, brutal, and easy. I want more of that then having to master and keep track of 50 different fighting styles and their silly names.
Fighting Styles should be left to games like Tekken where the characters have a more realistic feel to them and the styles would make perfect sense in a King of Iron Fist Tournament. This is Mortal Kombat though, they have special/unique powers and finishers, they don't need lousy fighting styles... just smooth combo systems, bone breaking, and better throws. 2 Cents
