Yes. MK vs DCU is an RPG.

You get to freely roam around a world map in this game, controlling somewhere between three and five people at a time. Your health is measured in "hit points", you can only shoot so many fireballs per fight before you run out of "MP", you can refill your meters by drinking potions, and every battle is conducted one move at a time, by you and your opponent taking turns choosing options from a menu.

I think its going to likely be something like the story mode in smash brothers.. you will have characters as they come about in the story and you choose from there...

Considering how well the smash bro's did It really wouldn't shock me to see mk go down that new line.."THAT ACTUALLY WORKED for a fighting game"

Of course i know people are going to backlash this comment with comments about how smash was a horrable game or whatever... but facts are facts... it sold out more then expected.. and anyone who has played the game agrees its one of the best fighting games out to date

Now tell me how many units Tekken 5 and Soul Calibur 3 sold. I don't know the numbers myself, but according to Ed, they're doing worse than MK is. So apparently he hasn't got a reason to care what we think or who takes the franchise seriously.

it really depends on the point of view your looking at... From a market point of view.. you could easily say..

ok mkA which "some fans clearly not all" sold 1 million copys..not a bad sell but what can we do to bring that number up...DC has been around forever..the fan base alone will bring in well over 1 million copys just for a collectors sake..

so to say mk sold out would be NOTHING BUT CORRECT...

Now we also take in further notes..Smash brothers...stayed number one for weeks when it was released.."which also tells us wii would be a good market IF IT COULD BE DONE" and something in that design worked for the gamers...

NOW I AM NOT SAYING ITS GOING TO BE EXACTLY LIKE THAT GAME...

however I am saying i would not be in the slightest bit supprised if they took notes from that game..along with the new sf game new whatever "fighting game" and said hey this will work...

NOW JUST KNOWING...they have a market group.. proves a couple things also.. A. The game is being tested by PLAYERS "Who I don't know..but clearly its not going to be a bad game" B. IF IT DOES FAIL...which at this point i really don't think it will cause of all the media its getting... the market group is going to have to look back to see what made the games good or bad

but back on topic... boon already made a statement which leades me to believe its going to be a very story based game....

With a few exceptions, I loathe most of Mortal Kombat's "icons." With a few exceptions, I'm generally indifferent to most of DC's icons.

So it'll depend character by character.

Video game franchises can't "sell out" because Video games are massively produced products to be bought and sold first and art second. Ed Boon has always made Mortal Kombat games to make money, this isnt some indie band that went pop to sell records, This is Ed Boon making money off of controversy just like he did back in 1991.
