Would you have rather Mortal Kombat vs Marvel?
Hey guys Grizzle here. I'm not sure if this belongs in the MK vs DC forum or not so I decided to post it her.
After looking at a few articles about MK vs DC and such, I was wondering what do you guys think about Mortal Kombat merging with Marvel?
I ask this because honestly I do not see any matchups in each of the characters in the DC universe compared to that of the Mortal Kombat universe.
I look at these possible match ups and I think about dream matches such as Liu Kang against Captain America, or Scorpion against Ghost Rider and they look much more interesting than the likes of Superman and fucking Shazaam (what a lame super hero)
I originally wrote this post on the Midway boards out of sheer boredom when someone mentioned it, and I noticed that it wasn't brought here. What do you guys think about these fights?
Reptile squarring off against Venom
How sweet would this be. Acid drool dripping all over the place as these two gnaw and snap at each other. I can imagine them swinging toe to toe with both of them clawing at each others necks like two wild beasts. Reptile would pull some slick stunts like being invisible and Venom using his symbiotic spidey sense to catch Reppie off guard. Would be a SWEET MATCH.
Kung Lao against Spider Man
I can so imagine how many webs he would cut while throwing his hat, and imagine how these two would jump around all over the place. Kung Lao teleporting and all. Imagine Spider-Man shooting a web shot at Kung Lao while Kung Lao deflects it with his whirlwhind spin.
Jax versus Collossus
Imagine the brute force of these two good guys as they bash steel into each others craniums. Jax with his ground pounds and Collossus with his massive rushing power. Jax was declared as the strongest man on Earth and I know Collossus would put him to the test.
Cyclops against Kano
Imagine the lethal beams flying across the air as both crimson red spectacle opponents go at each other. It would be an amazing contrast with the mercenary going against the boyscout.
Kenshi against Daredevil
This would actually be very funny to see, two blind men trying to fight. But both of these warriors are more than meets the eye. I think this would be a really cool fight.
Sektor versus Iron Man
This would be all about who is the more technologically advanced and I could imagine all the explosives being shot off. And let me remind you that both of these guys pack flame throwers.
Come up with matches of your own guys, I think this idea was a shit load better than MK vs DC. I trully feel that MK wanted to rival Street Fighter by pitting themselves against Marvel's rivals of DC, which was lame.

WEll... for one main reason it would make more sense: Marvel characters kill... DC ones dont... at least the heroes.
For example, if u got GL, he's not gonna kill anyone, but Ghost Rider, the Punisher, or Wolverine would.
But i think that'd b a stain on marvel... just like Rise of the Imperfects... so no... overall... i wouldnt want to see it

Wonder Woman snapped a guys neck before to save Batman from getting killed by Superman = \
And Marvel characters don't kill. When was the last time you've seen Spiderman or Captain America kill someone?

I just wanna choke you but I can't, I best stay out of this thread, can't take the mkvsdcu cultmembers any more.

Nope. Give me DC please.
Thank you ^ lol finally someone that agrees with me in this topic lol
As for the killing, Shingo's right. DC has killed PLENTY over the years if you do research on DC's history.
I also would make a bet that say just for the heck of it, if Marvel were to crossover with MK. They would also put "boundries" on their characters.
You think Marvel would seriously let Subby rip out Spider-Mans spine? I don't think so....
And lastly, if you compare MK vs. DC VS. MVC....despite both having the T rating, MK vs. DC got away with a lot for a T rated game and is a hell of a lot darker then MVC.(aside from one looking photorealistic and the other like an anime cartoon...)

I guess you've never seen Wolverine run his claws through somebody. Also, Blade was a Marvel character. Same with The Punisher.

Nah not really. As much as I like Marvel, I think there are more similarities between MK and DC.
For instance, many of the characters from the DC universe are based off mythology. E.g Flash is like the speedster messenger god, Mercury , Aquaman is like Neptune, Wonder-Woman is an Amazonian, Superman feels like an American Messiah.
This can be compared to the various mythological aspects of MK. E.g Thunder god, Elder gods, sorcerers, immortals etc....
Furthermore, there seems to be an emphasis on inter-dimensional travel, and parallel universes in both DC and MK, which makes the mesh between both universes somewhat feasible.
Marvel characters are often rooted in science experiments gone wrong. E.g being beaten by a radioactive spider, gene mutations, modern technology accidents etc...
I just don't think it works as well.

Seems like a grass is greener situation.
In Marvel's massive catalogue of games they've dabbled in M only two or three times, and never followed up on those entries. They also protect and pacify their icons as much as any other corporate company -- maybe more so than DC, because they don't have a mammoth backer like WB.
Wolverine gets to slash like a maniac a whole lot less frequently than you'd think (ie; movies, games and headlining comics). He's not even allowed to chomp on his trademark cigar, anymore!
Like Deathstroke, Joker, or other DC characters with fatalities, Wolveine might be allowed to be an exception to the cast, but Spider-man and Iron Man are no more likely to engage in mindless brutality than Superman and Batman.
It's easy to imagine a Marvel game with more of an edge to it, but the factual differences and evidence is negligible.
I'd rather an MK game. One that counts for something!

We'd ALL rather have neither. But the question wasn't "would you have rather Mortal Kombat vs Marvel or a non crossover Mortal Kombat game?" The question was "would you rather have Mortal Kombat vs Marvel?"
I'm saying definitely. Regardless of whether or not the game would have been any more violent (which it probably wouldn't have been), Marvel has a shitload of characters more suitable for a fighting game as characters, and they have much more aesthetically interesting designs. In my opinion, of course (before I get internet jumped.)

In the mainstream marvel some characters dont kill... but many characters have killed before... Cap America is a freaking soldier!!! Of course he kills!!!! he may not kill villains cause he is the boy-scout and follows proper procedure, but in time of war, he killed a shitload of ppl. And the new cap carries a gun to shoot ppl...
Pretty much all x-men have killed in the past...(Psylocke is a trained assassin) I mean... not to count all the x-men w dark personas/pasts (Angel, Phoenix, Rogue, Polaris, Gambit, Havok, Emma, etc.)
Also, marvel has a shitload of anti-heros that have no scruples in killing! Elektra, Wolverine, Blade, Black Widow (Another trained assassin), Hulk
This is not counting the recent skrull war... i mean... when it comes to war... there isnt a single character who hasnt killed a skrull.. some of them like Ms. Marvel pretty much let lose and sasiated their bloodthirst!
Of course... this is not even takin into consideration the ultimate universe... where killing the villain is common practice.
Anyway, in the DC universe they make a CONSTANT point out of not killing, or otherwise unconstitutionally (pretty much haha) treat villains!!! Thats what Identity Crisis was all about!
And lobotomizing is not killing... altho it'd make a cool fatality. And killing a guy ONCE cause she had to doesnt count!
Anyway, the point being, DC characters are not popular for being bad-ass killers, Marvel has way more (good) characters that lend themselves to murder.

About the only thing not naive about that post is that Captain America probably (although, many will argue) killed during the Second World War. Of course, the same could be assumed of Wonder Woman, or any number of the other WWII characters from DC, who are far more meat and potatoes than Marvel's rarely utilized Golden Age characters.
Characters like the X-Men, with a little extra melodrama, follow exactly the same kind of ethics as the Justice League. Most of them are not routine killers and have had the same moral quandries as any JLAer or other DC hero who has, but not regularly, killed.
Mainstream Marvel is just as sanitized as mainstream DC, both with all the same exceptions and alternatives. For whatever reason, those such as yourself just haven't seen fit to enquire about the Distinguished Competition.
Of the characters mentioned in the above post, only Wolverine and maybe Elektra have any reason to have a fatality move. Even they are highly doubtful for much the same reasons as the DC heroes.
None of those listed, in their traditional incarnations, have any prediliction to unmotivated and mindless killing. You're no more likely to see Blade killing Elektra than you are Batman, Catwoman.
All those names adhere to a moral code, of some degree.
