It's a fact.

Marvel has better-selling comics.

So you're wrong.

You're cool and all, but that's not accurate. : P

Death of Superman I believe is the most factually sold comic ever, period.

Mick, feel free to correct me but I just remember reading the sales of that comic...was insane to put it lightly.

The guy that posted before me, lol right on dude. Finally some more DC fans then Marvel on here.

One more little thing I wish to comment on, concerning Marvel vs. MK or SF(MVC) as oppose to MK vs. DC etc. At least with MK vs. DC we got a well explained story, (or at the very least a decent story period) unlike MVC which had...what for a story? I'd say garbage but that's too easy, the fact that Marvel or Capcom made no effort to even remotely explain their "crossover" says it all. That's another reason I give Midway/DC more credit then Marvel and Capcom....if you're going to make a crossover that screams "what the hell" at least explain it.

Marvel Vs Capcom was just for fun. I don't understand why everything needs a well thought out explanation. The fact that I can kick Juggernaut's ass with Mega Man is all I need to know.

The next VS game from Capcom will be 'Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom'. I don't care for a story, all I care about is that I'll be able to play as Casshern and Karas.

It was cool that Midway gave us a story that explained it all. It was actually fun to watch. But it wouldn't have been the end of the world for me if they wouldn't have bothered to explain it all.

Seriously. Much better that they went with DC.

Not a comic geek huh?

As a big marvel fan I have no idea what your talking about? Teen spider-man? Some of the younger X-men maybe? Those are the only two big ones I can think of with any teenager whining.

Marvel is a darker world, but emo... and teen angst? I dunno where your getting that.

Marvel has the better array of characters but DC has some characters that are just plain legendary even in few numbers.

I think both even out.

Marvel would've been a good choice but considering DC has never done it and Marvel has. It was nice to see something new no matter the view of the characters in it.

I'd be shocked if Marvel and DC ever collaborated on a fighter though unless MK or a Capcom were involved.

If all 4 were involved, that's be ace. I wouldn't care if there were a story or not.

If there was? Great it would be as epic as this story MKDC story mode and Brawls story mode. If not, who cares really except the people who want to nitpick something they already dislike.

yes i too would love to see a Marvel vs DC Universe fighting game made by midway preferablly with the engine they just used,

i think it would be epic!

daredevil vs batman, punisher vs deathstroke, wolverine vs superman etc

it would own!

All 4 would be ace.

MK and DC vs Marvel and Capcom preferably that way it would'nt break down into an all out free 4 all.

Though if that game were ever made, it would really push next gen consoles to the limit.

You figure 10-11 characters per franchise.

40 plus characters.

I love comic characters, to answer the question. I grew out of the Xmen and all the tormented teen angst crap ages ago. Has nothing to do with the age of the characters, I am talking about the feelings Marvel hits on way too often.

And as a result, MvC has no replay value. Nothing to unlock but alt palettes, no story mode to play through, nothing to DO. If you want a mindless, cartoony 2D fighter with no storyline, these days you can just download Mugen and build your own damn roster.
Real video games should ALWAYS have a storyline, even if's not deep at all, or outright sucks, because at least it gives you a few extra seconds or minutes of entertainment in between the repetitive act of fighting, and something like a reward, even a small one, when you finally win.

Yet, people seem(well some not all) to bitch about MK crossing over with DC....yet not Marvel vs. Capcom? lol not saying you, just in general on here the past 9 months or so.

I don't know, if anything to me anyway Hulk vs. Chun Li is way more mismatched then Raiden taking on Superman.

I'd love MK vs Marvel. However, at this point, I don't want to see
MK vs any other comic book brand. MK vs DC is released and
hopefully this will be the end of it. If there must be another cross
over game, make it against another popular fighter instead.

hey you're back.

i think part of it is that the MvC series doesn't have any canon at all really. but we know that atleast in one universe raiden fights superman. and what little story we do see in the second MvC game it appears as if everyone is working together.

but still i also don't see the point in people going ape shit over this particular cross over.

No replay value? What? The great gameplay alone guarantees the replay value. I don't need a story that explains to me how the worlds came together. To me, it seems Capcom treated the games like past Marvel/DC crossovers. Acting as if the characters would already co-exist in the first place.

I already got days out of replay value from Capcom games. Simply because they are fun to play. A tacked on story wouldn't have added much. I'm not saying that I don't ever want a coherent story, but I also won't scream bloody, f***ing, murder if they don't include one.

Probably because MK and SF seem to attract two completely different crowds. With MK you get a lot, not all are like that, immature blood and gore fanatics. Anything that doesn't give them their precious blood is plain evil. Or they think that MK is so mature, that it couldn't possibly mix with a comic franchise like DC. Everyone who thinks it's mature, must clearly have missed MK2.

Well I don't see it that way. I got bored of MvC2 within days and feel no desire to ever play it again. The strongest memories I have of the game are hating the background music and hoping I never have to hear it again.

As long as you remember is that what you think, doesn't reflect the thoughts of everyone. I still know enough people that play MvsC2 to this day. Even I throw it in from time to time.

I play games for fun, for seeing impossible match ups. You must hate Smash Brothers with it's strange plot and which never really explains why Snake and Mario co-exist in the same world.

but i'm having just as much fun with MK vs DCU. this is the longest i've played an MK game in a long time.

Smash Bros. has like a dozen different modes (one of which DOES have a driving narrative to it, in case it somehow escaped your grasp), assloads of hidden content to unlock, plus four people can play, making it a better party game than a one-on-one fighter. It could be months before you've experienced everything there is to do in the game, and even after you have, it still has value if you get together with a group of friends often, as I do.

MvC has TWO god damn modes: arcade and versus. Play it ONCE and you've experienced the ENTIRE game. THIS is why it needs a story mode. If you're so easily amused that JUST fighting is enough to entertain you, good for you, but I can't do that, especially not with that terrible, terrible music playing the whole time, trying to slowly drive me insane.

The story mode didn't escape my grasp. I did mention the strange plot in my previous post. But it doesn't really explain anything other than that a bunch of bad guys are kidnapping the good guys, and the rest of the roster thrown in at specific key points. There isn't much of a story other than "Stop the bad guys!"

And yes it's got unlockable content, but so did MvC2. You didn't start with every character from the beginning, you had to unlock them.

That's why I play fighting games... to be entertained by the fighting... I don't expect a fighting game to be the next Final Fantasy.

This is pretty spectacular, is a new "IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MARVEL" thread going to open up every day? At this rate, we're going to be talking about this well past MK9. People argue that one fits in better with the other, I disagree entirely. I don't think either fit in with MK particularly well, both are just kind of fun matchups.
Also, to anyone who claims that Marvel would totally kill if they had been in the game, look at Marvel Nemesis and see how many people are killed in it. DC was definitely the better choice; Capcom has already had their fun with Marvel. Let the topic rest before I lose my mind.
