I love Russian. I'm in the midst of learning it. It's a hell of a lot of fun, because most people can't understand a word you're saying, and it also sounds really neat.

There are some Latin/French roots in words, though, and lots of loanwords from English. You just need to learn how to read Cyrillic, which takes a little time, but is very simple.

How long have you been learning Russian?

I was learning French, but my lack of Financial aid funds and the course cancellation has really thrown my plans out of whack, I was speaking and writing fairly respectable, but it has been a while, I wish I lived in Louisiana, it would be much easier to practice French. I may live by Detroit, but aside from the name, there's not a vibrant French speaking community.

I spoke Spanish to where I could have an in depth convo, but nobody to speak it with has really hurt my retention.


I tried Arabic too, but my hand writing looks like doctor's handwriting, also known as chick scratch, so the writing just didn't work for me, not to mention the different symbols, adding or removing a jiim or alif could change the whole meaning of a word, great language, couldn't really learn it.
