Gamespot has just posted an article from Miocrosft's Game Summit 2005 with a list of accesories Microsft will be selling for the Xbox 360. The article can be read here: Xbox 360 Accesories List

Here is the list:
Wireless Controller
Wired Controller
Memory Unit
Rechargeable Battery Pack
Play and Charge Unit
Quick Charge Unit
Wireless Network Adapter
Hard Drive
Remote Control
Headset
Face Plates
VGA HD Cable
Component AV Cable
S-Video AV Cable

It looks like Microsft will indeed be releasing wired version of the controllers, ans well as additional hard dirves. One thig that needs to be cleared up though is that in the article it states the content that is listed on the hardware packaging, which DOES NOT list any hook up cables. I doubt Microsoft would be that stupid to not include the hook-up cables, but if they did that would fucking blow! Having to dish out extra for for the hook-up cables.

I think you mean support. Yes hte Xbox 360 will support regular hook-up besides hi-def. I'm talking about in the article they got to see a mox-up of the consoles retail box, and on the packaging of every consle there has been a list of parts that is included besides the console. Like:
1 Video Game console
1 Controller
1 Power Adapter
1 A/V Cable
etc.

The article states that on the mock up packaging there isn't any hook-up or power cable listed to be included in the Xbox 360 hardware package. The only thing that is listed to be included in the Xbox 360 hardware package is:
1 Xbox 360 Console
1 Wireless Controller
1 Xbox Live Headset
1 Xbox 360 External Hard Drive

MS stated a while ago that these cables will be included in the box:
http://news.botros.net/gamenews/2005/05/xbox-360-accessories-photos.php

Thats just one site stating it. And if anyone honestly thinks that the 360 will not include hook up cables because it wasnt listed as accesories, they need to have their head examined. Its a given that it comes with them.

For those Interested in PS3, PSM magazine's September Issue has some interesteing details.

In the upcoming PSM magazine, there is a feature article about the PS3. They say they received some 'new' information from their development sources who wish to remain anonnymous! No more memory cards, HDD is not for games and more detailed in this article!

#1 No More Memory Cards

We've received a lot of letters asking about how PS2 will be backwards compatible with PS2 and the original Playstation if it doesn't have memory card slot. Well, we have an answer, and it's both good and bad. First, the bad news: All of those old memory cards you have won't be usable with PS3. Okay then, wha's the solution? Sony has actually decided to only use Memory Stick Duo cards(the same format PSP uses) for PS3 save data. However, if you play a PS1 or PS2 game on PS3, the system will treat the Memory Stick like it's a normal memory card. This is different from the PS2, which requires you to use a PS1 memory card for PS1 saves. What this means is that you won't be able to use any of your old saves if you play PS1/PS2 games on PS3(wonder if a DexDrive will work...). But there's an upshot to all this: Downloading and sharing saves via PC for all three Playstations and PSP(hint, hint) will be easy as pie.

#2 Peripherals Passed Up

PS3 won't have old style memory card slots, and we can confirm that it won't support PS1/PS2 peripherals that used the controller port. You will be able to play PS1/PS2 games just fine using the new PS3 controller (bizarre as it looks), but things such as dance pads and third-party controllers won't be officially supported. Of course, it's highly likely some PS2-to-USB adaptor will be made(there's already one for the PC) allowing for such a thing. The question, then, is when.

#3 The Specs Aren't Set

Sony revealed some impressive PS3 tech specs at E3, but they apparently weren't set in stone. Developers have begun to tell us about actual improvements being made to the system's specifications, including more system memory and other low-level upgrades that we won't physically notice, but are making the people producing the games even more Happy.

#4 The HDD Won't Be For Games

There were plenty of moans heard when Sony started talking about an add-on hard disk drive for th PS3. We all know how well the PS2 HDD did. Still, there will be a micro HDD released for PS3 at some point in time. The first capacity being pitched is 80 gigabytes, but developers are being told it won't be for use with games. Instead, Sony is planning to use it as pure storage; you'll do things like put downloaded movies on it, copy MP3s to it, and store your digital photos on it. Then, using the PS3's network hub capability, be able to watch/listen to it all on any capable device hooked up to your home network, like a PC, PSP or even another PS3.

#5 The PSP As A Remote

A lot of folks were left scratching their heads after Sony talked about using the PSP as a remote for the PS3. Well, here's how it works at present: Even if your PS3 is in sleep mode, you will be able to access it via a PSP using Wi-Fi. You can then manage media stored on it, control movie playback from another room, or simply turn it on. Whee!

#6 There's A TiVo-like Add-on

Plans call for PS3 to eventually receive a USB video input box that will make it capable of recording video and television programming to the optional micro HDD. In other words, TiVo. Sony is also making a lot of behind-the-scenes noise about being able to go on trips and download shows you've missed from your PS3 to your PSP -- over the internet. We imagine using a USB cable would work just fine, too.

#7 Most games will be 720p

Although many PS3 games will feature 1080i and 1080p high-definition modes, a majority of developers are using the 720p standard as their target resolution. This is great news because the majority of HDTV's out there don't support 1080p yet, and the ones that do are hella expensive. It's pretty, though.

#8 Speed OR Quality: It's Your Call

It's something PC gamers have been able to do for years: Run their games at a lower resolution in order to speed them up. As it stands, Sony is leaving the door open for developers to offer players the ability to make their games run faster and smoother by using lower resolutions like 480p(progressive) or 480i(the standard regular TVs use). Sony obviously wouldn't want to abandon the majority of gamers who have non-HDTVs do by forcing all games to run at 720p. It's nice to hear that HD-less folks will get a little speed from the lower resolutions, but if you're like us, it's all about resolution.

End Of Article

I do hope what PSM was told is true, I like the idea of using Memory Stick as i have a 256mb Pro Duo which I paid £22 for which is only £2 more than the Offical PS2 memory Card which is only 8mb so i'll have plenty of room for my PS3/PS2/PS1 saves.. no HDD for games doesn't bother me as i use my PC for storing Etc I was only planning using the PS3 for Gaming and HD movies so that will be one less thing that i would have needed to buy. 720P as standard i do hope this is true it would put it on par with Xbox 360 as a standard resoultion but i would have preferd it to be 1080i and 1080p as standard with the option to lower the resoultion to 720P, 420i, 420P etc I can see 1080i and 1080P being reserved for only the major tiltles.

Well if that PSM article is true there are definetly flaws in the PS3. No hard drive for games, the system is all ready going to start bottle necking. It's not a matter of saving games data it's a matter of being able to cache data from the game disk on the hard drive so that there is fewer, shorter load times. I don't care how much faster Blue-Ray disks can be loaded, it still won't make a big enough of a differnce compared to current load times from the PS2 disks. I guess using the Memory Stick Duo for saving games isn't absolutely terrible, but considering that the biggest size currently available is 2gb for roughtly $200 is pretty outragious. I would I rather seen Sony go with the regular sized Memory Stick Pro, and tried to find a way to bring the price down. A 4gb Memory Stck goes for $1000. It would be nice to have an easier way to transfer bigger sized media files to the PS3 froma PC. I think if Sony did that as well it looks liek it could be a pretty good competitor for the PC as a media center.

Sony hasn't said you need a 2gb version they have said that Memory stick is what is being used, the choice of size is up to you, Like i said in my post i have a 256mb one which i paid £22 for which will do just fine. if you need to transfer large files get the HDD drive and connect to the PC via USB or WI-FI.

PS3 could come out as late as '07.

"Analyst: Sony could wait till '07 to launch PS3
Sony strategists may see a priced-down PS2 as all the company needs in '06; would ride $99 sticker--and profits--all the way to 2007.

Buried in an analyst's memo, written shortly after last week's Electronic Arts earnings call, was a hidden gem. According to the widely read team at Wedbush Morgan Securities, Sony may delay the release of the PlayStation 3 until 2007--if exactly the right conditions prevail.

Currently, the console is slated to appear in Japan before the end of that company's fiscal year--March 31, 2006--and in North America before the end of 2006.

Given the right set of circumstances, however, that release window (at least in North America) could intentionally lag until after the 2006 holiday buying season.

In a research memo sent to investors, Wedbush senior analyst Michael Pachter set up the following scene for a delayed PS3 launch. It starts with the current-generation Xbox being priced down to $99 post-Xbox 360 launch, but no lower. Concurrent with that situation--an Xbox 360 at an unspecified price and the Xbox at $99--Sony would drop the price of the PlayStation 2 to $99.

There are two components to that pricing strategy: the first is that a $99 PS2 would offer a significant distraction as the 360 launches. As Pachter states: "We believe that the company will attempt to disrupt the Xbox 360 launch with a price cut, and as a result may succeed in diverting attention away from the higher-priced next-generation console."

In addition to the "diversion rationale" is the supporting fact that "the redesigned PS2 carries a manufacturing cost of less than $99," according to Pachter. New consoles are noteworthy for the fact that at the beginning of their manufacturing cycle, the units are sold at a loss. Given that the PS2, according to Pachter, would cost less to make than to sell, it behooves Sony to extend demand for that product for as long as possible. And if Microsoft takes the Xbox price no lower than $99 (still a loss for Microsoft, according to Pachter), Sony will find itself in a win-win situation.

Another cornerstone in Pachter's theory is Sony not wanting to disappoint consumers and retailers by having too few units in the channel over the high-demand weeks of this coming December. Pachter says, "we believe that Sony suffered the ignominy of being unable to satisfy holiday ['04] demand in order to increase its gross profits over the short term."

If the PS3 launches in late '06 and suffers the same fate, Sony would be embarrassed for a second straight year. Without any PS3's in the channel, there's no chance of a shortage of stock. A backward theory perhaps, but a theory based in fact nonetheless.

The key point in Pachter's argument weighs heavily on what sort of showing the 360 has at launch. If the 360 tallies significant sales early, Sony would need to fire on all cylinders and get the PS3 into the channel ASAP. However: "Should Microsoft fail to garner sufficient software support to gain an insurmountable lead, we think that there is a possibility that the PS3 launch will slip into early 2007."

Following the distribution of the memo last week, GameSpot spoke with Pachter who emphasized that he "posited the thought as option value for Sony." Continuing, he said, "I think the 360 will do quite well."

But if the 360 does an about-face at launch and tanks, the above Plan B could be an option the cash-strapped Sony might just consider.

By Curt Feldman -- GameSpot"

a couple of things result from this, if it happens:

--bungie will have more time to work on Halo 3smile
--if the revoultion comes out in 06, the price of that could drop, by the time ps3 comes out

also what if revolution does very well if it comes out before ps3? i know we haven't heard much about it, but you never know. anything could happen.

what could also result from this is a later release for the PS4, early to think about, i know, but the execs have to have this mind, when in this industry.

It also states that the scenario is in the event that the Xbox 360 does moderately well. If Xbox 360 does considerably well it states that Sony need to to get the PS3 out as soon as possible. It pretty much implies that Sony could loose the next-gen console race to Microsoft if the Xbox 360 does better than expected.

Personally as much as I would like to to see the Xbox 360 this year, I still think Microsoft is under prepared. Final developemnt kits just went out last moth meaning that developers who are trying to get games ready for launch are in a tight squeeze to make it within only a few months. I also don't think Microsoft is really prepared with their advertising for the system as well. Considering what they showed off at E3, it pretty much sucked in terms of generating publicity for the console. And there isn't really going to be another major event like E3 before this Nov when the system launches. Another thing is that the major Japanese devolopers haven't really showed off their games which just hurt Microsoft's push in Japan. I just think Microsoft would be a little better to to push the system back to be released next year before the PS3. It would have given there high profile Japanese developers to get their RPG together to show-off, which would have really helped the Xbox 360 gain ground in japan.

One thing from that article though is that theres a good chance for the PS2 to drop to $99 this fall. Which I'm pretty glad about. Even though I had one I need to get another one because I gavee mine to my brother, and I need my own to play SCIII.

As Kabal20 said, they didn't even have proper demos ready during E3, and just recently, the final kits were sent out. But I don't think that should condemn the 360 just yet.

If anyone remembers the Gears of War demo, the graphics were unbelievable....voted best E3 graphics by IGN, which is one hell of a compliment. But according to sources, the game was running at ONLY 35% of the 360's full power. If that's true, I think we can expect far more from Microsoft.

I've already pre-ordered one anyway grin

I'm not neciserily saying that the the 360 is condemed, but that I think Microsoft should have had things more planned out for a world wide release, esspecially to make solid running start in the Japenese market. True the current Xbox has gained great steam in the console market over the past year or 2 in the US & Europe, and will only continue with the Xbox 360. But It's just not something I think Microsoft should be doing winding up to the PS3 release. Hoping that the Xbox 360 will gain steam in japan as the japanese RPG's start rolling out on the console. Hoping to take sales away from the PS3, brecause most japenese gamers in my opinion would probably end up holding out for the PS3 the closer it get to launch. Microsoft should have had the japenese RPG's in a better position for the launch.

The thing I find funny is the analyst's "prediction" on the lower-priced PS2 making a big distraction for the 360. Honestly, who in the right mind would blow away Oblivion to the side just to play some game with out-dated graphics and mediocre gameplay from 5 years ago??? I know there's a big difference of $99 and $299, but it's time to take some steps forward, and leave the past generation behind in order to make room for the next generation.

The fact is the PS2 has some prity good games due, Black is one that pushes the PS2 to the limit and is said to be next gen like in visuals and effects so i wouldn't go knocking it just yet.

LOL! PS2 is in no way close to next-gen visuals. Sorry. That was a stupid statement on your part. It is time for the new generation. The ps2 games are looking significantly better (God of War, GT4) but by significantly I mean almost close to Xbox graphics. No way close to next gen. Sorry. While Black looks good, it looks almost on par with the current gen. Xbox. Not close to next gen.

Here is a picture of the Revolution and it shows that there are ports for the Gamecube controllors and memory cards. Though they are not the controls for the Revolution itself, just for the gamcube games that you can play on it.

Here is all that is known about the Revolution. (According to ign)

Thats either a fake pic, or ports for the new Revolution controllers. The gamecube controllers have the flat part of the plug on the top. The ports are upsidedown, you can tell because they're numbered as well.

The new Revolution controllers are wireless and you are looking at the system upside down, if you turn it around it is fine also you can lay it on it side. So really there is nothing wrong and it is possible to turn your controller around so it goes in.

Also the picture is from Ign and they have had the system and talk about it awhile. Just go to the link I posted eailer.

Well if you put it the way it should be the numbers on the ports are backwards. Secondly just because it's supposed to have wireless controllers doesn't mean they couldn't make wired versions. Microsft is making both wireless, and wired versions of the Xbox 360 controller.

True but as I said before you can easily turn your controller around so it will go in. As you said it isn't finished and maybe they will be fixed later but right know I am sure they are worried about bigger things, at the present.
