That Microsoft wanted the new KI to be a launch title for Xbone meant for Double Helix to jump through some loops. It's indeed not optimal, but the game is still awesome and it continues to be built on.

All it meant was that they had to release an unfinished game with a stupid business model. The game is good and fun to play, but severely barebones. They added an Arcade Mode, but even that feels half-assed. And the game only has 8 characters. And while they all feel and play differently, its simply not enough.

I think we can all agree that KI would've done better given a retail release and some goddamn marketing. If that meant MS would've had to let the devs finish and put the game out a year or two later then that would've made the game all the better. And sure people can say that they did the best with what they had, but that's just an excuse.

An excuse for cashgrabbing. I paid 40$ for the "full game", and whose to say I won't have to pay another 40$ for Season 2. That's 80 fucking dollars for something that would've been 60$ at retail. I love the game and I love playing it, but it deserved so much better than what it got.

I completely agree. It would be better if they waited until the game was finished, and it would be better if they made a retail release when that was.

However, that's not how it turned out. I admire Double Helix for making the game to what it is with all the time constraints they had pushed onto them. Because again, though not optimal, the game is pretty damn good.

Hopefully when the whole second season is released, the game will feel alot more complete.

The only reason I'm not tearing into KI to prepare for season 2 is because I'm all over Ultra SF4 right now. I need to start working on those manuals again.

The reason it was released "unfinished" is they wanted to see if a game like KI could be done as a "platform", like League of Legends, where you just keep releasing new content online forever to keep the game alive.

Whether or not that's a good idea is a matter of opinion, I suppose, but personally, I've enjoyed the results so far.

Same here. I decided to take a break after struggling to unlock some of the content. I know they are supposed to add extra ways of unlocking some of the stuff in season 2, so I'll probably go back then. I've just been busy playing Ultra Street a Fighter 4 and a number of other games.

So...no Cinder yet, then? That's a bummer.

Really wasn't sure if we should ever expect anyone from KI2 considering they've been so unclear about whether or not all the time travel, stuck in the past stuff even happened, story-wise.

Like...Double Helix's approach was to undo anything that was changed but still have references for fans (Sabrewulf had metal arms but removed them and grew flesh ones back and the mad sciencing he went through to do that shows in the twitching and needle user arms, Jago knows the tiger spirit is Gargos and is all bitter now, This is a third Fulgore...which begs the question, did they all have Eagle's brain? Is the brain surviving the destruction of each model, is it a cloned brain, or is it AI BASED on a human brain? And how did the cast get home from the past anyway?)

But Iron Galaxy, as I understand it, told Maximilian "It's a semi-reboot, KI1 is canon but 2 isn't, that's why Combo doesn't have an eyepatch"...

Maya looks nice, though a bit like generic female warrior from any fantasy story and she has nothing in common with her KI2 appearance. But considering how she looked there...it's not really surprising.

Now, I really want to see her gameplay. She was my favorite character in KI Gold, so I have fond memories of her playstyle.

I guess cinder still isn't ready yet. Makes sense. He's a graphically-ambitious character.

I'm kinda glad it wasn't Cinder because this is such a pleasant surprise. I was never a huge Maya fan, but she looks absolutely GORGEOUS now.
Does anyone else feel like this drastically increases Tusk's chances of returning?

I'm pretty confident by the end of Season 2 we'll have most if not the entire roster for KI 1 and 2, plus 2 new characters, including the new playable boss.

I agree up to the point of the original bosses. For some reason, Ken has it in for Eyedol, and that's a shame.

I feel like the odds are slightly more favorable for Gargos, but I fear the demand just isn't there. It drives me nuts because a character with a flight mechanic would not only be amazing, but it would continue the pattern of character diversity this game has already established so well.

I want Gargos back so badly. For me, the light of hope is the air counter-breaker. Adding air counter-breakers to the game sounds like something made with a character like Gargos in mind (and obviously Sadira).

I'd say now that we've got one, we'll get them all.

Which is a shame. I always hated Tusk. Totally down for Kim Wu though.

I get the impression that Eyedol and Gargos aren't in the running because they just don't want to make a broken or unplayable boss character, they'd rather have everybody be on the same level like in a Street Fighter game as opposed to having Goro/Shao Kahn-types.

I hated the original concept of Tusk, but that's not to say that a character like that can't be improved. We'll just have to play the "Wait and see" game.

Pretty much. Both Maya and tusk come from the some plot point, so the seal is broken as far as I'm concerned.

As for the bosses, I think they'd be fine as long as they confine what made them previously OP to instinct mode (kinda like Sadira; those web traps are ridiculous).

I'm actually not sure where Gargos fell on the original KI2 power rankings. As far as I know, there's no community approved tier list of KI2 (it had no tournament base).

Well I wonder if having Shadow Jago, who's supposed to be Jago possessed by Gargos, eliminates the need to put Gargos in the game as his own character. Like Lobb or someone said "well he's interesting story-wise but I don't want a goofy giant flying gargoyle in the game, so let's do it this way instead".

Speaking of Shadow Jago, hopefully they give him his own moves, preferably the ones he has in his boss fight.

I was hoping to see a reveal for Cinder first, but I have a feeling that he'll actually be the last character revealed for the second season. About Maya, I was never really a fan of her, but I'm glad she got a pretty good redesign. The characters introduced in KI2 just did not look good at all. Her gameplay style sounds kind of interesting.

Well Maya wasn't shown in playable form either, they just showed a character piece and her stage. They talked about how her daggers are a big part of her gameplay, but aside from that no in game footage was shown off.

The reveal itself wasn't better, that I agree. Raiden got a cool trailer to show off his moves while Maya, as you said, just got a concept art shown. But the character revealed is more interesting, imo. Maya both looks more awesome than Raiden and what the devs told about her gameplay sounds alot more awesome than what we saw of Raiden's gameplay. ^^
