I consider Killer Instinct as kind of cousin of Mortal Kombat,but much darker and brutal. If there is anyone who could handle this franchise besides original Rare developers,it would be NRS,because thematically they are close and Ed Boon stated many times before he is a fan himself of KI.

As much as I would love KI to come back,it ain't gonna happen soon,if at all. Heh,Glacius and Sabrewulf,those were the days...

I know it will never happen, but I could see NRS taking on KI. They could make MK the more technical game that competes with Street Fighter and KI could be the game more about string combos and plays similarly to UMK3.

Considering how long the series has been dormant, I can understand the sediment, but I don't think they are planning that. I thought I had read that a game listing for Killer Instinct over at the ESRB was spotted some months ago.

If not an XBL title, I would love to see a new KI game as launch title for the next Xbox. That alone would be a system seller, IMO.

I really do hope Killer Instinct comes back someday. If it was announced as a launch title for the Xbox 720 I would run out & buy the new system the first day of release. Honestly Killer Instinct should be an Xbox exclusive, Playstation always has the upper hand on exclusives especially in fighting games & it's time Xbox to get something that Playstation can't get besides FPS's.

This is just speculation on my end at this point, but considering the first two Xboxs had a fighting game at launch, and at this point i don't see any third party fighters that look like a possible next gen xbox launch, I think a new KI game could be likely with MS current efforts to have the rights for the series.

The thing is Fighting games are quiet niche as it is. A console exclusive one may not get the sales that publishers want.

In fact i'd go as far as to say thats why it hasn't been released yet.

Well, that footage is of the first game from 20 years ago, it's not like it can't be fixed to be a better fighter. Look at the stuff from MK4 and compare it to now.

Micorsoft has hinted at an important role for a Rare IP on the Xbox One nd will show more at E3: Important role for Rare IP.

I seriously hope its a new Killer Instinct game. I don't think anyone really cares that much for a new Kameo, Banjo or Perfect Dark game.

Considering Perfect dark Zero didn't turn out as good as some people expected, and the fact that both MS and Sony's consoles have more than an abundance of FPS I don't see why MS would attempt another shooter. Just my option. I think behind Killer Instinct, Perfect dark would be the next biggest Rare IP that gamers would want to see (if it was done right).

I don't think there is a huge demand for a new banjo, Kamero or grabbed by the Goolies games.

I'd like to see new KI as the next guy, but...Rare had changed. As far as I know most of their stuff, that developed games back in the Rare's golden age, departed and nowadays they are mor or less shadow of their former glorious selves.

Of course, I don't think that they are completely hopeless, just, that there is a bit of a doubt at my side.

Another thing, what or how they gonna do modern KI? In it's time, KI shocked everyone with its visuals and audio, which compensated...rather specific gameplay. I am not sure, if the same eye-crushing level of presentation can be achieved today.
