Ahh, :( I think it looks horrible, imo. It looks nothing like, what I remember KI being. Character look nothing like they did, years ago. And I know they wouldn't look exactly the same. But, Sabrawolf, looks nothing like he did in the first 2. And Jago, oh lord. Don't get me wrong, I want to love this game( even though I don't plan on getting a xbox one) but, nothing in the reveal video, made me go, OMG ITS KILLER INSTINCT. Personally. I would rather them just rerelease, KI1 and 2 on xbla. But that's just me, I suppose.

The game looks and moves entirely too much like Street Fighter.

I really do hope that as the game develops the makers revert the mechanics to the original style of the series.

I will now gladly eat crow. However, after watching the Jago combo video I am thoroughly unimpressed.

Obviously it will be very different from KI1 and 2.
Different time, different developer, different technology. There is no point to expect something strongly resembling first two games, since they were quite...specific.

As for the lack of cyberpunk themes...we were shown only 3 characters and one arena. Any radical judgement, at the moment, will be pointless and haste.

Microsoft is already listing bonuses for the game and it also looks like there will be more than one version of the game (ala Street Fighter 4, Super Street fighter 4, etc):

I don't understand why people is surprised of new KI being Microsoft exclusive. Unless people wanted too for Xbox 360 and/or PC.

Game looks awful. I'd rather them have just let the Killer Instinct name and be forgotten than for them to make this. Character models look bad (especially Jago), gameplay looks bland and boring, graphics unimpressive and the level design is unoriginal. I'm literally speechless about this. It doesn't surprise me at all that Microsoft would try to cash in on the nostalgia of the Killer Instinct name by releasing a half-assed polished turd like that, especially after what they did with Perfect Dark Zero, but I thought that maybe they would have learned from that and actually tried to bring this series back. But no, they're going to kill it. It's really a shame.

Agreed! Who can recall KI being on anything but Nintendo systems outside of the arcade versions? Who in the world was surprised by this?
Anyway, I can't load the video, so I'll reserve judgment until then...

I think it looks cool for a first trailer, hopefully the graphics will be polished up and there will be added some more blood graphics, but otherwise, I think it looks awesome! I love Jago's new look, Sabrewolf looks a bit too simple though, basically just a werewolf wearing torn pants... but I guess his design has always been simple. Glacius looks like a cool (pun intended) updated version of his former appearance which is exactly what he should be, being the nude ice alien he is. The overall feel seems like Killer Instinct to me, at least. The KI guys have always looked rather buff, though I agree that Jago could do with a bit slimming down on the muscles.

This game... It is the only reason I will get Xbox One. It is the only exclusive title that could make me buy any Xbox console. Maybe not a day one buy, but definately something I will invest in... Unless it is announced that KI will come out on a Playstation console somehow, though that is less than likely to ever happen. :P

I cannot wait to see more of this, especially not how Orchid will appear like!
I truly feel like a little boy at Christmas time. KI has been my favourite fighting game since I first tried it at my friend's SNES, being the number 1 of my top 3, the two others being Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. I have for years wanted to see it return... and now it has. No way that I am going to miss out on it!

If it turns out to be suckish, then I will of course be disappointed, but it's not worse than I can sell the game with the console to someone else who wants it for more than just that one game.

Sometimes you have to spell it out for people to understand. So since I have to I will.

So now you see where I draw the right to complain.

Well, none of the titles you mentioned are owned by Sony. The rights to KI is owned by Microsoft which explains why it won't be multiplatform. It sucks, but nothing less should be expected. I don't think any of the titles Sony owns have been released on any other console than Sony ones.

It's not about that other fighting games are multiplatform, it is about who holds the rights to the title. And this is a good way to get more people to buy the new Xbox One. That's what exclusive titles are all about, to sell more of that console by making it more appealing.

I'm with you though, I think it sucks that it will be an exclusive title... but I understand why it is.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing. However, it's still pretty early to make any judgement.

That is more a party game than a fighting game. I don't consider Super Smash Bros a fighting game either...



I will never be an Xbox fan. But my fandom for KI is bigger than whatever Microsoft is doing with the new Xbox. My priorities put KI on top of everything else that Microsoft are doing with the Xbox.

To me, Killer Instinct is just more important than that.

Playstation All-Stars and Smash are considered Brawlers. Which is a sub-genre of fighting games. Smash is going to EVO and you don't consider it a fighting game? Lol

But Playstation All-Stars is more of a fighting game. It's combo system is proof of that. But I digress, we're getting off-topic.

Well, DOA was XBox exclusive in the past.
And the previously mentioned SSB is the Nintendo exclusive fighting game.

In the big picture it doesn't matter. If the game is good it will become succesfull, even if it is exclusive. The problem here - I don't think new KI will be as good as old ones.

As you say, it is a sub-genre. I don't consider them to be in the same genre as KI, MK, SF, Tekken, SC, DOA etc, because it has different rules of gameplay.

PASBR, Smash Bros, Power Stone and the like have some stuff alike fighting games, but not enough for me to actually consider them as such.

Aaaanyways... I choose to celebrate the coming of a new KI by changing avatar and sig. Better ones will come up when footage of Orchid is released. ^^
