Avengers that could immediately give Superman a run for his money to varying degrees: Thor, Hulk, Giant-Man, Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Hercules, Vision, Captain Marvel, Wonder Man, Ms. Marvel, Gilgamesh, Sersei, She-Hulk, Warmachine, Thing, Sub-Mariner, Quasar, Sandman, Thunderstrike, Captain Britain, Ares, Dr. Strange, The Sentry, Hulking...
Without any restrictions on the teams, I'm not sure I could even come close to picking a winner here. The sheer number of characters, and broad range of powers and abilities makes it one incredibly tough call!
Suffice to say, it isn't one-sided one way or the other, regardless of where any fans allegiance stands. DC does not have a monopoly on the insanely powerful, nor does Marvel have any strength of numbers.
It'd be one heckuva a war, though.

I see what you're saying and all, but you have to consider the fact that Hulk is arguably one of the best, most powerful avengers agreed? In the comics, Superman clearly beat him.Hulk isn't exactly no easy foe...another thing I wish to bring up.
In the cartoon movie The Ultimate Avengers, first one.It took Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Wasp and Giant Man to take down the Hulk.Superman is one person who took him down in less time.
There's all kinds of different scenarios given the fact that there have been different teams of Avengers and god knows how many different groups of JL.Too many to count seriously.
I think it would be close indeed especially depending on the match up, but I'd still say in the end JL takes it.

Hulk get's stronger the more angrier he get's. Imo Hulk would own the shit out of the krypton. Hulk alway's remains the hulk when angry. Superman becomes human when a piece of cytorak is used again't him. Thus making hulk alot better. But w/o all that in depth thinking. Im sure it would be good.

Meh, in the Ultimate Avengers movie, they used a sedative to calm down the Hulk..Avengers got lucky.. Besides, the comic book versions( atleast 616 marvel version) are much stronger than the versions portrayed in the cartoon movie.

Kingjolly, yeah I remember that part lol the tranquilizer did play a part in that before that the Hulk was owning the whole team lol.
True, Hulk does get stronger the more angrier he gets but Superman has just as much power if not more, has more powers then Hulk in just mere brutal strength and would outsmart him or defeat him like he did in the comic before Hulk gets to that point.
Everyone in the comic universe just about has a weakness, if you put Hulk and Superman in a place like a dessert like in the comics with nothing to use as weapons, no injections or kryptonite Superman would beat him for sure not a doubt in my mind.He can also fly, Hulk can't(only jump at long miles) therefore Superman also has Hulks number as far as manueverability easily. He could also burn his eyes out like he did in the comic, the punch him for miles.
But yeah, it would be fun to watch.

The Avengers have the Sentry, I'm sure he can deal with Superman... apparently he stalemated Galactus.

Sentry isn't all that, he's like Iron Man on steroids once you bust his suit then what?
Also, Superman and company defeated Imperiex who is arguably more powerful then Galatus since he is litearlly the cosmos in power.

Derrick is right. The Sentry is pretty powerful. Mkflengend, I think your confusing Sentry with someone else.
That's Sentry tearing Carnage in half.

or we're talking about two different sentry's.The one I read about is a guy in a suit filled with lots of weapons and extremely strong outside structure.
Ok, I just read up on the Sentry you're referring to.He does seem pretty powerful but I'd say Supes could take him or Martian Manhunter, he's a character that's extremely underrated and very powerful. He's also a telepathic character with super strength and shape shifting abilities.
Not for nothing but Sentry seems like a combination between Supes and Manhunter lol.The article even says that Sentry is a "marvelized version" of Superman.I was right...

I would like to call it a tie, because Superman can kill most of the Avengers, but lets not forget about guys like Thor and War machine. Plus anybody who has a kryptanight can dodge Superman for a while. Im STILL going with JLA for the vote! Despite any type of connection with S.S. and Marvel. This is about The Justice League V.S. The Avengers.

Good point ^^, that is though if they can find Kryptonite lol but yeah good point I think you're one of the few objective marvel fans on here.
I'll admit the Avengers are cool, well some of them spidey, hulk, iron man and wolverine etc but then you look at what JL has and they have more power.
GL is also pretty powerful also, and you can't forget about Wonder Woman.

It's a Tie
Well folks, it seems like this whole thread was a failure. There wasnt a clear winner! This final match up was suppose to decide which universe was stronger. Oh well.
Before this thread closes, I'd like to thank the following:
1.) Mick-Lucifer ( he helped with quite a few match ups. He answered alot of my superhero questions on the IRC...the guy is a living breathing comic book historian)
2.) Queensindel(TheBitch) & TheSilverSurfer(they suggesting the bio idea. I think it added a positive flavor to the thread)
3.)DArqueBishop( Helped with a few match ups, particularly the Imperiex vs Galactus match-up)
4.) Minion(helped with some match ups, and he accepted my offer to takeover this thread)
5.) everyone else who posted in this thread
6.) Wiki, IGN, marvel, DC (got most pics/bios from these sites)
7.) Marvel & DC for creating such kickass characters.
Well, that's all folks. MINION should be re-creating this thread shortly. See you there.
