Just about Midway through bankruptcy

It's only a matter of time before Midway goes under.

The end is at hand.

MkvsDc must have done well enough to deal with 75mil, and now all they need is moderate numbers from whatever the next release is. So, Wheelman is coming at a good time it seems. Allowing them a little bit of leverage. They must know that game won't do extremely well. They have to know that.

Ummm...I'll say, Good job Midway on this one. Doesn't quite negate what seems to be the inevitable. But they deserve a little bit of props based on this....well, basically luck of the trade.

What it looks like to me, is that they'll have to have already have canceled a few of the lessor secure ($$) releases for '09....and probably 2010 too.....

They make these moves now, and at least get close to eliminating this debt by the end of 2010. (we'll keep hearing about it the whole time)
Sooo, by the middle of 2010, they'll have games already started, and scheduled for release late 2010, and on into 2011 & 2012...ect.

Still having some of the lessor secure projects gone, might allow them to recoup fully in 2011. With probably...a full recovery by the time another MK games' released. Late 2011, early 2012.

Hey, what else is slated to release '09?

I think they got a pretty good shot at coming out of this one. Everybody has to be on the ball at all times though. Every game has to do something like 10-20mill and they'll be fine. They might even come out ahead if they do this right, change what they're making, and how business is done for a good while.

As I was reading this I found myself thinking "where the hell do I know this from?", then I read the kumite parts and laughed my ass off.

I'm really pretty bummed about this. If Midway does indeed go under, it'll be a sad thing. I feel bad for all the people who could lose their jobs. Here's hoping they manage to pull their asses out of the fire.

I don't necessarily fear for MK, as I'm sure somebody would pick up the franchise. A lot of people's dreams are coming true. Someone other than Midway may get a crack at MK...it's just sad that it had to happen this way.

Unfortunately for them, those are the only two titles that are slated for a 2009 release. I'm guessing maybe they have other games in production, but none for this year.

I've read that there is also another MK adventure game in production, but not certain on the release date.

These Feb. release games might not save them but it'll certainly bring some numbers up. I'll be honest, wheelman looks like an ok game and I'm a fan of movies like XXX and Diesel, but I'm definitely not picking up the game at $60. The game looks like a rental at best.

At least MKvsDC is doing quite well, so if they can bring out some download content in the near future, that would also help Midway quite a bit. I'd love to have downloadable fatalities for unfinished characters like Darkseid and Shao Khan.

Or even just adding Quan Chi. I mean they already have the model so they can spare some time there

Someone claimed in another thread that Quan-Chi doesn't have a player model, and it's full-motion video that you see him in.

Not sure on how accurate that is, but if so, implementing him will take a bit more effort.

The only good series Midway releases is Mortal Kombat. And just because a game has a celebrity, doesn't mean it's good.

Sad I know, considering people's livelihoods are on the line. I do hope Midway manages to get out of its hole.

Imagine what they could have done with a REAL Mortal Kombat.

If they stop to lie, to make false promises, to stop those ridiculous excuses and dead lines, to hear the fans about what we wanted and not let only the money rise over their heads, thinking that everyone will accept everything, maybe Midway can stop to diggin the well and start to climb it. Do you noticed something? They are not expecting the sucess of the DC Game, just those two new games.
