They're definitely pushing boundaries, although I don't think they realize that this amount of realism could possibly put this game at an AO rating if they are truly trying to market it. As far as the gameplay goes, it looks way to scripted thus far. I know the build is pretty damn early, but the developers need to realize that if you have top notch graphics, your motions have to flow realistically. They look way to choppy and scripted as of now.

While i was browsing through the net i came across these interesting videos of an upcoming fighting game that is currently in its early stages of development...
Main Menu and Character Select Screen
Free Training Mode
Fatality Teaser (after the Shang Tsung Soul Drain)
the person who uploaded these leaks has claimed that this will be the most gruesome, realistic fighting game yet. each character will all have their own set of special moves but also, their own unique "Fatalities".
as a big fighting game fan, i am quite curious how this game develops... but being a MK fan at the same time, i feel its a bit lame how they are trying to use MKs famed "violence and gore" to gain public interest... but from the sounds of it, it looks like they will try to outdo MK in everything (grittyness, gore, realisim etc).
im curious to hear your thoughts.

I think the beauty of MK violence is that its a lot like the old martial arts movie violence, its unrealistic, and like they said, borderline comical... like Kill Bill's super pressurized infinite streams of blood...
it doesnt look like street crime... lol... actually that video did unsettle me a bit... i dont think i'd enjoy playing that game.

The official website is now up and they are slowly revealing each character... so far an interesting cast.
The visuals look AMAZING and the overall atmosphere and music was really interesting. Not really feelin the emo character, but will wait to see a bit more before I pass judgement. That stage from the training vid looked awesome though.
As for the violence, holy shit that was pretty intense. I've always been annoyed by the goofy MK fatalities, but I don't know if I'm quite ready for this kind of realism. But again, I'll wait until I see more from this game before I form any kind of opinion. Hope to hear more about this game in the future.

I suppose it's possible that the game is a hoax but, to put forth such an elaborate effort only to set up a "gotcha dipshit" moment seems like an epic waste of time. Who knows though, stranger things have hapened. The "PC Only" claim is a red flag, as is the extremely vague system specs on the site. I didn't see mention of a publisher either.
One thing I do know is that the character names are absolutely horrible, even for a 90's tribute game. Also this new "living oil slime" character Morbo will be difficult to portray in a game engine promising realistic looking characters unless the dev's go a posessed dead guy route like in the picture. Otherwise I'm envisioning something ridiculous.

I personally don't think its a hoax anymore at this point. With all the updates on their site, and the new characters and bios.By the way, the characters Leech's ending move looks sick.http://necrostorm.com/games/deathcargo/deathcargo.html

Agent Malcom has been added to the site, this cannot be that elaborate of a hoax. This is like Silent Hill meets MK, I've never been as creeped out by fighting game characters since I was a kid
Curious to see the gameplay, will pass on the finishers though, too much realism.

This game - if it ever sees the light of day - will be garbage, because afaik it is made by people who have never tested a fighting game. Also, realistic? Mutants, aliens, and technologically enhanced Kraftwerk fans... The only thing remotely realistic thing shown about this game so far is that when you repeatedly stomp on someone's face hard enough, it might break. I guess that's shocking if you've never seen it before but it's really not all that impressive to me. Stomping on people's faces in EA MMA looks way more satisfying.

Still don't believe a word of this. All the images are simply photshopped photographs of real people. And no supposedly English speaking game company would have as many errors in basic English as this site. Furthermore, look into the 'developer' , its not even a registered trademark.

I think it's real. They're Italian who obviously don't know much english. I think it's more like a fan project than a legit game company. They're investing way too much time in this to be simply faking it.

An expert at Photoshop could cook up those images in a matter of minutes, don't you think? And many many people are just so. Another very telling giveaway is the first thing you find on any new games website. There is a total lack of concept art.
and someone needs to be shot for those character names. It sounds like a toy line from the 90's.

The whole concept of the game is to bring back the 90's. That's why the names of the characters are like that. If Mortal Kombat just came out nowadays instead of the 90's, everyone would ask who the hell is Baraka?Or other MK characters. Give the game sometime. They gave us some visuals of the game so far, so if your that interested in the concept art, I'm sure you could message the Necrostorm company and ask about it. Or even on their Youtube channel.kingjolly Wrote:

The fatality looked so weak, and then ... had such a strong end? I don't mean it's a good fatality, I just mean it looked too powerful for such a weak toss.
I just opened the link to look at the new characters, and this music is so good. It's always so good!
Arachno has tits.

Actually the concept of the 'game' is the exact opposite, the website keeps boasting about how 'new' and 'unlike anything before' it is. So it's not trying to be 90's at all. Nothing like this was conceived in the nineties.
And why did you use Baraka as an example? It's one of the best names in Mortal Kombat. Sub-Zero is a crappy name. But Mortal Kombat WAS made in the 90's! That's what makes it okay.

That 'fatality' was absolutely hilarious, I've seen better video editing in first year film classes. That was a digital video of two guys in poor costumes, coloured with after effects. Now i'm certain it's a hoax.
