Might just watch this. First one was meh but the second one got me nervous all the freaking time when a new night started and I was expecting something to eventually pop up in the front yard -and pool camera.
I hate when the general public thinks that a horror movie is so scary and you'll be up for weeks, because then I go ahead and see these films and call bullshit. The Ring wasn't scary, Disturbia wasn't scary, and Paranormal Activity wasn't scary. I haven't even seen part two yet, I doubt I'll see three before then.

Yeah I hate when movies get all hyped and then turn out to be total shit and a waste of my time.
However I wanna see this one, looks better than the first two. The other two were not really scary, maybe a startling point here or there. I kinda wanna see it for the storyline really since I have seen the other two.

Eh, I'll pass on PA. If I want a scare, I'll go watch some Grudge or something. The Japanese one, not the american one.

First off, I don't like Disturbia. I felt that needed to be said.
That out of the way, is there a horror film that does scare you? Some people just aren't wired for horror films. For any movie to be scary, there are some elements that people must be naturally receptive to.
I mean, I hated the first "Paranormal Activity." I've never seen two characters who were so unforgivably dumb. Nonetheless, I still found the movie to be scary.
Disturbia was supposed to be a horror film?
Anyways, I would love to see this movie. I haven't seen the first one, but I did see the second one. I still need to see the first one. But when I saw the second one, there were just some parts that just did the spook. It wasn't frightening, although the ending was pretty weird, but I wouldn't say it was messed up.
And it's got a 77% on Rotten Tomatoes while Abduction is sitting with a 4%.
I think I might go see Paranormal Activity 3 than what's his face.

Exactly, and there are different types of horror that get different ppl. For example a LOT of ppl thought Blair Witch was stupid and not scary. I nearly shat my pants. I thought Paranormal Activity 1 was BRILLIANTLY scary. It played on every single thing. Granted... it was frustratingly stupid sometimes like "why dont u just do X or stop doing Y!?!?!?" but still... the scary scenes were SCARY!!!
My problem w PA3, and the same one i had w 2, and watch for SPOILERS follow:
The goddamn retcon. Its so annoying. What I loved so much about the first one is the nature of the haunting. The demon is infatuated/obsessed with Katie... there is no way out, it follows her! We dont know why... ever since as a child. That makes it so damn scary. The burned pic was VERY meaninful... the demon carried that w him from their old burned childhood house. PA2 changed that, took away the whole value of that horribly despairing and scary picture scene, and added that stupid it wants the baby thing. Finally... PA3 adds that whole granny is a witch and whatnot. Totally ignores the house burning, changes the entire story, ignores all the details given about the childhood in PA1, and they give you that TOTAL cop-out "after the rite the witches will alter their memory"
Spoilers END here
Anyway... as a lover of the original Paranormal Activity, I have to say PA3 had a lot of kind of pointless "BOOOO!!!" moments and the story sucked. Its good at creating creepy atmosphere.. but really its all stress for no payout. Also... a theater full of fucking teenagers trying to be funny and act cool did not help....
Oh, finally, if you havent seen part 2 dont even bother watching this one cause youre not even gonna understand what the fuck

Well, yeah there kind of is. If you haven't seen two well then you're not going to understand what's happening with this one.
I haven't seen the first one, but I've heard stuff about it. The second one was the first of the three that I've seen and really understood what was happening.
In this one, since its a prequel of the second movie, it made sense, but I didn't really like the fact that it was a short movie.
The ending was fucking weird but I wouldn't say this movie really scared me. It may have for my boyfriend, haha I just had my ears shut the entire time becuase I don't like loud noises and it doesn't help the fact that I was having a headache through this.
Though this is the kind of movies I enjoy for scariness. Not too much of the slashers, they're not scary just gross as well as "how can we kill someone that hasn't been shown yet?"

Oh god this movie was bad.
It was bit scary with the silence and then something popping up the first 3 times but since it was the same exact format of:
- talking amongst the family every day.
- Cut to cameras at night
- Something moves
- Something gets up
- Something pops up to scare you
- Next Day
- Rinse, wash, repeat
With the exception of the closet scare in the day time and the Bloody Mary thing, this movie was way to predictable.

That sounds positively pants-shittingly scary.

Not.
Not.
I was considering going to see this movie, just out of morbid curiosity after having seen the first one, but if it's more of the same then I think it'd be wiser to save the eight bucks for a better movie.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, these movies are nerve wrecking. I've watched a lot of horror films and these are the only ones that really get to me
Well, there are going to be some that get scared when all of the kitchen's objects come tumbling down from mid air and some loud crash comes around and such, and there are those who knows "Okay, something in this scene will be moving and or dropping."
I mean, yeah, there are things that frightened me in this, just because I don't like minutes of silence or soft talking then a second long crash that follows after. But I have to agree with whoever said this movie was predictable.
The entire time, my boyfriend and I were whispering to each other what objects are going to be moving throughout the scene. We got half of the stuff right, such as a light is going to move, a door's closing on its own and someone is going to get grabbed and pulled in.
I'm just hoping that if there's another one, it either follows the end of the second movie or shows us at the very beginning on how this demon came into the world.
Unless they clearly showed it within the first five minutes of the third movie, we missed it because the ticket and the showtime were off by ten minutes.

Saw it last night....
I literally fell asleep in the theater. No bs.
To be blunt, you could set a camera up in your own house for two hours, stop the tape, and re-watch that for the same exact affect. Not even any of the "jump" moments were any good...
Movie sucked...
lol sry

I definitely agree with you. That blanket scene, where u just think its gonna b one of the girls and it just goes away.... or the bloody mary scene (I was sure poor old Randy was gonna bite the dust) were very nerve wrecking, and those are 2 of the main "not just a big BOO" scene where its what is going on that scares u. I totally disagree that its boring... what killed me tho was the story and the retcons... I really wish they had taken it in a different direction and not molded it just so they could reproduce the first 2 movies in rythm and ending (ppl possessed, other family memeber dies) and they would have wrapped the story of the first 2...
Frankly... it would have been a LOT scarier if it ended with the family just leaving their house in ruins as it burns, knowing that that thing is gonna follow them for the rest of their lives.

Somebody always says this stuff. Always. No matter how scary or creepy or enjoyable a horror movie is, some manly man always exclaims how much he wasn't scared. Not saying I don't believe them (although often I don't), its that it takes away from the fun and excitement of a horror movie. Its like how in a theater somebody will force themselves to laugh obnoxiously at a sad part of the movie cause they think it makes them look edgy and interesting to audience members. It doesn't, its just annoying.

Heh, if someone did something like that, laugh obnoxiously at the wrong part, I slam my drink in their faces.
Teenagers mostly have this issue. I remember going to see the third pirates and we were watching what they were playing at the end credits. Where Elizabeth and her son are awaiting for Will to return. Some kid goes, "I knew she'd get knocked up." You can hear people doing that disappointing little "tsk" sound and I just go, "Thanks Captain Obvious," and you just hear laughter. Heh, sometimes going back at them is funnier than what just happened.
But with Paranormal, is the third movie that has the same aspect as the other two. Nothing really different happened, just the story. It's really easy to predict what's going to happen in each scene, so I can see why to others, this movie didn't even do anything to them.

I don't feel like finding words to exactly describe what happens in the beginning but here is pretty much the first few minutes of the movie before the time of the actual events in the film take place.
"In 2005 Katie delivers a box of old videotapes to her sister, Kristi, and Kristi's husband, Daniel. A year later, Kristi and Daniel's house is seemingly burglerized and the tapes are missing."
So pretty much, the devil / demon or "Toby" as the girls call it isn't really shown to be created. The paranormal events just start taking place once Toby is first introduced.

That's a very good point. I actually can't think of a horror movie that has ever scared me past the age of puberty. I mean, I love horror movies. I watch them a lot. I don't normally judge them on a scale of being scary, but on a scale of being good, funny, and/ or entertaining. One movie that I remember keeping me on the edge of my seat during my first viewing of it was Haute Tension. It had my adrenaline pumping, but I was never really scared.

Am I really being a party pooper? I am not even trying to say I'm a manly man or anything, I'm just saying that I get frustrated by the misleading hype about a new movie by the general public. I don't really know people who laugh at sad parts of movies, but I've been in theatres where people are annoying and keep commenting and making jokes about the scenes.
I've got to say that one of my most enjoyable theatre going experiences was when the Grudge came out. Although I didn't think that movie was scary, I thought it was good. And there were so many young girls in the audience, their screams added so much energy to the film. Especially during the climax where the apparition kept popping up from different corners.
