alot of agnostics. i am christian straight out. i know forms of christianity have been twisted. but that dosent mean all is. and we christians arnt all weirdo's. and come on face it there are creepy christians. ones who are afraid of phones, music, and dirt devil vacuum cleaners lol. but i assure you were not all weird. to understand christianity we must go to its roots. what did the disciples do. they followed jesus. they belived in God and worshiped both. thats it. that all BASICALLY. every religon out there has you doing somthing. while christianity every thing is done. your sins are forgiven. and if you want know more about God read the bible if its to long read one random book of the bible. thats it.
btw this was not a conversion message. this was for christians and others alike to know what christianity realy is

A New Testament book would be preferred, except Revelations: That is wholly spiritual.

I'm curious as to why religion is such a huge factor in people's lives, and why it influences so many in positive and negative ways.
1.) Well... religion is basically cultural and traditional beliefs about spiritual phenomena smooshed into singular ideas or philosophies depending on whatever region on earth you're from. Sooo...why is religion such a huge factor in people's lives?
a.) Because specific ideas originate from specific regions based on behaviors of those people.
b.) Because it's been there for a long while, and people don't like to knock down old things that still hold some value to them.
c.) Because people believe in it...and belief is a very tough thing to shake when it has been there for a while, and people still see value in it's teachings.
2.) Influence is far more powerful a phenomena than we like to give it credit for. There are practical (real life or logical) attributes of influence, and then there are impractical attributes of it. Mix practical with impractical and you get peace sometimes, and the other times, you get chaos. The same is true when we talk about logical verses emotional, or decisions based on information verses judgements based on emotional impulses, and on and on we go...
I'm Baptist, under the umbrella of Christianity. But I subscribe to a lot of unorthodox ideas because I've been exposed to a few of the different belief systems out there, and I am strongly influenced by science. I like the best ideas, I like the best information, but my religious or rather, spiritual understandings aren't really moved around by all that.
