I don't want any more Mario characters.

When it comes to more Mario characters, there's few I have in mind. The only 2 that really have any meaning are (as stated by Toxic) Bowser Jr., and Shy Guy (considering Shy Guy could be used as a "base" character.

When SSB:U is out, I vow to whoop Erik on the (hopefully) PROPER online mode.

I'm just tired of seeing so many Mario characters. I get that it's Nintendo's flagship game, but give some other IPs some shine time.

I think they do a great job of not allowing Mario characters to overwhelm the cast. In the first game, you think Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi is too much? In the second game you think that Peach and Bowser weren't welcomed additions? Did the third game even add anyone? Oh yeah. Wario. But he, like Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, seem to qualify as their own franchise if you ask me.

Yeah, but you can also argue the point that he was in to promote his new Yoshi's Island game for the N64 back in the day. I saw Yoshi in Smash Bros. as his own thing, not so much with Mario.

On this topic with "too many people from this franchise", do you guys NOT see how many Pokemon characters there are? Really. Mario is fine.

Mario doesn't have the most characters in Smash Bros. If I count all of the Mario characters right now it would be "Mario, Luigi, Dr. Mario, Peach and Bowser"

Zelda had "Link, Sheik/Zelda, Ganondorf, Young Link and Toon Link"

Pokemon has had "Pikachu, Pichu, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, Lucario and Pokemon Trainer"

While I agree on making more characters like the WFT, I honestly have no problem with adding more characters from the three franchises I've listed above. I AM honestly hoping they add more characters from F-Zero and Metroid though.

In all fairness, Yoshi originated from Mario and will always be best known for being in Mario. Even if he had his own game, he'll be best remembered for Mario.

So I'd consider him a Mario character. But I see your point.

You can also say Donkey Kong originated from Mario, so he must be a Mario character too? I find Donkey Kong in his own thing much like I see Yoshi and Wario in their own things.

Donkey Kong originated from Donkey Kong. He's not a Mario character at all. Not even the red guy in DK is Mario, he didn't have a name. (Besides Jump man) But he was the basic design for Mario but still...

Yeah reading that I goofed, I meant the other way around lol. But you see my point.

There's also Wario, who first appeared in Super Mario Land 2, and was playable in Super Mario Land 3

Oh, and Mario's first appearance was in Donkey Kong, and DK has appeared in most of those party spinoff game things, so if you wanted to get technical, DK and Diddy could also count.

I hate watching rewinds of games and they get shit wrong.
