Captain Olimar?I would have never suspected it...

About Me
My tastes have changed since I created this account over 4 years ago. I prefer being called Siklootd and now love heavy metal music.

Wow, today's update caught me off guard, that was the last character I thought they would put in the game. Pretty cool to see them continue to add original characters to the game that people weren't really expecting. I still can't wait to see them re-confirm some of the old characters though like Captain Falcon and Falco.

Olimar? What the $&@*? Well, it ain't a total loss. Is it?

If you went on the smash forums, it'd be no big surprise, as i've been on there and most of the users there suspected him.

Because Waluigi would be a boring PC......imo.
What I don't get is why there's so much hate on Olimar. Seriously, who didn't expect him? He was on the top five for Sakurai's poll, a very popular Nintendo character, and is very unique and completely original.
Goodness! Captain Olimar joins the fray with five colors of Pikmin in tow!
From reading this, as well as viewing some of the other screen shots, it is very likely that the maximum amount of Pikmin which Olimar can command at a time is five. Beyond that, there are one of each color. Though, it's uncertain as to whether or not you actually start the match with your Pikmin at your side.
He plucks Pikmin from the ground and they fight as his allies.
Obviously, this will be Captain Olimar's down special move, and it will be very similar to Peach's turnips. You won't be able to "pluck" a Pikmin out of the air-- you must be stationary, and on solid surface. Also, I'm guessing that it'll take at least a second or two for Olimar to successfully recruit a new Pikmin.
Without Pikmin, Olimar can’t even do a Smash Attack.
Self-explanatory; Olimar will be very dependent on his Pikmin friends, most likely for both normal and special attacks. I imagine that Olimar will play very similar to the Ice Climbers, in a way. With the Pikmin at his side, Olimar will be stronger than the regular character; however, without the Pikmin, Olimar will be almost completely useless. Well balanced, if you ask me.
And the short-lived Pikmin tend to scatter. Theirs is a fated symbiotic relationship.
To me, this hints at his standard special move, being "the whistle". Whenever the Pikmin get confused and start to wonder about the stage on their own, it is Olimar's job to get them back in order and by his side, with his whistle. You would have to be in a certain range while blowing the whistle, otherwise the Pikmin won't hear your command.
Discuss.

I agree. It blows serious chunks that Waluigi isn't playable. I had big hopes for him.
Update - Snake: Final Smash

Awesome, his FS rules.
Um yeah, Casselman, all the characters shown are the only ones he wants to ANNOUNCE before SSBB is released.
There are plenty of shoe-in characters, like.....
Game and Watch
Jigglypuff
Captain Falcon
Marth(better be in SSBB)
Ganondorf
Mewtwo(could be replaced by Lucario though)
Luigi
Krystal should be playable, and many other characters will be secret unlockables.
Once Japan's release rolls around(or maybe earlier), we'll know the whole roster, so for now we just wait a little.

Great updates as of late, I think Captain Olimar would be cool =o

thats a...weird final smash.
With the recent "guest" characters in Soul Calibur IV announced, I'm surprised Yoda and Vader aren't dropping in on Smash Bros. Personally, I think that makes a whole heckuva lot more sense than Soul Calibur IV....
... but, anyway, yeah, where the heck is my man Captain Falcon? They're getting me jittery. I want my "Fahcoooooooon Punch!"
Personally, I'd be eager to get Midna, Pious Augustus, or Dark Samus (or just Samus in her Light Suit as an alt.), but that's just me.
