I know this has nothing to do with Mortal Kombat, and for that, I apologize. But, for any Dragonball Z fans out there, you are sure to enjoy my reimagining of Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 transformation! Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u51PJwwYLlI

I love Dragon Ball. Been picking up the Dragon Boxes recently. Easily the best home release the show has ever had.
And Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 transformation is easily one of my favorite moments. It's just a shame FUNimation decided to shoehorn in that stupid internal monologue in the dub. It seriously messes up the scene.

lol we all know thats a filthy disgusting lie, but I'm proud you repent of your trunk-loving days.
I loved DBZ, but after a while it got a bit repetitive... but I still love it. Especially cause i watched the uncensored version
My boyfriend is starting to make me get into it. I'm never watching the episodes I'm more like,
"Sweetie, who's that?" "Sweetie, why is he a midget?" "Sweetie, why did he die?"
I don't think I've watched an entire episode without asking at least one question.

and then it's, "Sweetie, didn't he die a few episodes ago?" lol
I love the show, but I will admit, it does get a little repetitive at times. Ok a lot repetitive.
1.Bad guy shows up.
2.Heroes get stronger to fight him.
3.Bad guy blows shit up.
4.Heroes keep getting stronger.
5.Epic fight begins.
6.1 or more heroes die. (almost always Goku)
7.Hero reaches "The next level" and defeats bad guy.
8.They look for Dragonballs to bring them back.
9.Meanwhile, an even stronger bad guy shows up and starts blowing even more shit up.
10.Repeat steps 2-8.

That was the first question I asked actually. I was confused exactly why Goku was dead in some random episode that we watched when I know that he's the main character and that he gets over NINE THOUSAND power... level... thingy...
But I agree with you and anyone else who has been saying that this show is repetitive. Totally agree with you guys there.

I started disliking DBZ when Piccolo started becoming less of a credible badass character and more of an old school WWF jobber.

Best anime ever. Started declining during the Majin Buu saga and went to hell during GT. The worst part about that show was how they kept trying to top each bad guy with bigger and badder villains. What's that? No one in the universe can stop Frieza? This is my friend Cell. Sup.
Too many saiyans at the end. Not enough Piccolo ass kicking.
lol awesome way to describe it

Dragonball Z is crucial to my childhood. Without DBZ I never would've liked anime, which means I would've never liked .hack, which means I never would've bought my PS2, so I never would've gotten into gaming, which emans I never would've gotten into MK.
Also, I could count the hundreds of days my friends and I spent playing pretend DBZ. I was always Trunks...

The only Dragonball thing I can still watch now is the Dead Zone movie from '88 or so.
Ocean dub version or bust.

That was seriously my favorite moment. Gohan was my favorite character and I loved Cell's theme. Fantastic.
I've definitely fallen out of it though, but, it was my shit back in the day.
I still play the games every now and then...Budokai!!
I somewhat adore Dragonball. It was funny, it was epic in it's own sense, and it had soul. Even when it is tiring it sometimes manages to make me smile.
I absolutely loathe Dragonball Z and GT. Even the martial arts became a backdrop to yelling in constipation and growing 80's hair out of your head while trying to look down chinadoll villains, and someone who was a gelatinous blob. GT is less than shit, it's like a shit taking a shit to paraphrase the AVGNerd.
I watched every last episode of all the three series. DB comes lightyears before the soulless shonen beamfest with one dimensional characters. But it did introduce me to anime in general (Cowboy Bebop, FLCL NGE, Trigun, GitS, Paranoia Agent, Series Experiment Lain etc.) so that is one definite quality of DBZ.
You want good shonen? One Piece, or Naruto. Naruto is basically what DBZ should have been. Thank God for character development and manga format to filter out fillers.

I had my VCR hooked up for something else, so I started watching Dragon Ball Z video tapes. In the age of binge watching, I wonder if opinions about the pace might change. It has a few moments of dragging, but I don't think the drama gets enough credit. It watches very well more than one episode at a time. It's still a favourite, but my references past the Androids gets very spotty. Maybe it breaks down in those later arcs.
Ehhhh. I could do without. [RE: Favourite anime shows]
