- ‘Dragon Ball Super’ Story Details Emerge [YouTube Trailer]

While we already knew the series is set a few years after the defeat of the planet-destroying Majin Buu/Majin Boo, the August issue of Shueisha’s “V Jump” magazine now provides a synopsis of the first episode:

"After defeating Majin Buu, life is peaceful once again. Ordered by Chi-chi to earn money, Goku works even as he wants to train even more. Meanwhile, Goten, about to become a brother-in-law to Videl, sets out on a journey with Trunks to find her a present."

- Goku and Frieza face off in a Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' exclusive clip



EW can exclusively premiere a look at the showdown that is to come in Resurrection ‘F,’ as Goku comes face to face with his old rival. And as the clip suggests, Frieza is wasting no time putting Goku, Vegeta, and other memorable faces to the test, powering up more quickly than he ever has before.

Resurrection ‘F,’ which has already been released in Japan, will hit North American theaters for a limited theatrical release from Aug. 4-12. Fathom Events and Funimation have partenered to bring the film to theaters following last year’s Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. The film, supervisied by series creator Akira Toriyama, will also screen with a specially created 15-minute pre-show for those in attendance.

- Dressing Up Like Dragon Ball Z Made Easy



Costumes can be hard work. If you really like Dragon Ball Z, want to dress up, and are kind of lazy, here are masks and outfits that require minimal effort.

Famitsu reports that the Goku, Piccolo, and Frieza masks go on sale in Japan this month for 5,590 yen (US$47), 4,990 yen ($42), and 4,990 yen (ditto) respectively. They are made from 100 percent Japanese latex!

Japanese retailers such as Gee! Store are selling Dragon Ball Z costumes that can be matched with the masks (see above) for 10,584 yen ($88) each.

Pretty good! For an added touch to your Freiza costume, I recommend taping a red laser pointer to your index finger.

Akira Toiryama has had two new movies made (Battle Of Gods & Resurrection F) and there is currently a new anime that comes on every Sunday in Japan called Dragon Ball Super. They all pretty much ignore GT.

Its all pretty good, if you like Dragon Ball you will likely enjoy both new movies and the new show.

- Toonami Lands ‘Dragon Ball Super’ English Language Debut

Toonami has announced that it will debut the English language run of the next “Dragon Ball”-based anime series, “Dragon Ball Super”, throughout Asia and Southeast Asia, where the channel is offered.

According to ComicBook.com, “Dragon Ball Super” marks Toonami’s first exclusive English first-run premiere. The network also currently airs episodes of “Dragon Ball Z” and “Dragon Ball Z Kai” in English.

I just bought my favorite season/saga on Blu Ray (The Cell Saga - Gohan has always been my favorite).

It's been years since I've seen it so I'm extremely stoked. Used to have a few seasons on VHS but we know how that goes.

Why wouldn't Toonami try to air the DBS English dub here in the U.S? There views would increase so much lol

Anyway I can't wait to see the FUNI dub. I have been watching the subbed versions every Sunday and its really good, but FUNI's dub is always the best lol

- Screenwriter Ben Ramsey Apologizes for ‘Dragonball Evolution’

“Dragonball Evolution” screenwriter Ben Ramsey has apologized to fans for the film. In a letter to Derek Padula, “the world’s first professional Dragon Ball scholar,” Ramsay took responsibility for the film’s poor reception.

“I knew that it would eventually come down to this one day,” he wrote. “‘Dragonball Evolution’ marked a very painful creative point in my life. To have something with my name on it as the writer be so globally reviled is gut wrenching. To receive hate mail from all over the world is heartbreaking. I spent so many years trying to deflect the blame, but at the end of the day it all comes down to the written word on page and I take full responsibility for what was such a disappointment to so many fans. I did the best I could, but at the end of the day, I ‘dropped the dragon ball.'”

“I went into the project chasing after a big payday, not as a fan of the franchise but as a businessman taking on an assignment,” he continued. “I have learned that when you go into a creative endeavor without passion you come out with sub-optimal results, and sometimes flat out garbage. So I’m not blaming anyone for ‘Dragonball’ but myself. As a fanboy of other series, I know what it’s like to have something you love and anticipate be so disappointing.”

- A New Dragon Ball Spinoff Imagines a World Where Yamcha Doesn't Totally Suck

Poor Yamcha, the butt of 90 percent of all Dragon Ball jokes. The poor guy has had his ass kicked time and time again—and hell, infamously got killed off by a nameless grunt—and can’t really keep up with his friends. But a new official manga spinoff imagines a world where Yamcha is the greatest hero in the Dragon Ball universe.

Shōnen Jump Plus has just started running a new miniseries by Dragon Garow Lee, based on Akira Toriyama’s iconic Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z series called Dragon Ball Gaiden: Tensei-shitara Yamcha Datta Ken (or, in English, “Dragon Ball Side Story: The Case of Being Reincarnated as Yamcha”). The premise revolves around a Japanese high schooler who is somehow reincarnated as the hapless Yamcha following a mysterious accident.

Poasty just showed me this. Fun concept, and a nice excuse to play with the classic stories.
