And the tension rises....

This guy os trying to make me start a flame war by getting me angry with false accusations but I won't stoop to his level, no matter what anyone else from other countries say that free kick was given against Sol campbell when John Terry was closer to the keeper and he didn't do anything.
i'm man enough to admit we didn't play good enough to deserve to go through but this guy isn't man enough to admit they're extremely lucky to be through because that goal should never have been disallowed, we should be through.
it's argentina 1998 all over again, Sol Campbell has a genuine goal disallowed and we lose on pens, so unfair.

Although I disagree with you on the Campbell '98 goal, cus I do think Shearer fouled the Argentinian goalie, I agree with everything else.
England played pretty terribly, considering how well they played vs France and Croatia. The 90 mins were very much like the Quaterfinal vs Brazil in 02. But extra time and penalties were very like the Argentina 98 2nd Round encounter.
Portugal should count themselves lucky though, they equalized in the 83rd min. THEN James (who is not international quality, but still better than Seaman) had 2 chances to save and England would have progressed. But he didnt make one save, Rui Costa missed remember, and the Portuguese goalie sazved Vasell's without his gloves on! Then turned round and scored the winning spot kick! That was a crazy game, horrible to watch as an England supporter, cus your emotions get thrown around - but even in defeat (again for England) it was a great QF. England's best chance at glory will be in the World Cup in 2006...
Afghanblade Wrote: I hear that the Italian press is complaining about the fact that Sweeden and Denmark made a conspiracy....knowing that if they tie at 2-2...then Italy would have no chance......despite a win or a lose. |
I really doubt the match was fixed. However the swedish and danish fans really made it look like that. When I see how they acted and what they had written on their shirts and stuff it really made me ashamed of being swedish. It looked to me like both teams fought the whole time. Except for the very last minute.
Someone Wrote: the game was fixed so that the host team would win. i'd even bet that portugal get to the finals. think about how much money portugal will make if the home team go through to the end. that goal shouldn't have been disallowed. also, i've always thought thought beckham wasn't as good as every one said and last night proved it |
Yes the goal should have been disallowed. John Terry(I think it was him) blocked the goalkeeper from getting the ball.
And Beckham is a good player. He's got a great sense for the game and an amazing right foot. But for some reason he's crap at shooting penaltys.
Someone Wrote: Euro 2004 First Round: Sweden vs Denmark Before this match, the Swedes and Danes had 4pts each. Italy had 2pts and needed to beat Bulgaria to advance, and hope that one of Sweden or Denmark wins - or they draw 0-0 or 1-1 and Italy would still go through. BUT if Denmark and Sweden tied 2-2, a score that has only happened ONCE before in the 83 games between the countries, then Italy would be elimnated. And of course it finished 2-2 with Sweden equalizing in the 89min. |
So? They scored late in the game against Italy too.

Wrong and wrong again.
1. The only foul that went on in the goal was Sol Campbell stopping Terry from heading the ball so that he could head it himself.
2. The keeper was no-where near Terry or the ball he jumped and went down without anything touching him.
3. The foul was given against Sol Campbell, you point out to me what he did wrong except heading the ball instead of Terry.
1. Why does everyone immediatly assume beckham is bad at penalties because he missed 3 out of over 10 he has took for England.
2. On British Television it was shown clearly than the ball moved before it was struck by Beckham, that particular penalty wasn't his fault.
3. No surprize Bartetz saved his penalty, they'd been playing on the same team for 2 years, he's seen beckham take a penalty more than any other keeper.
4. I'd be surprized if anyone scored a penalty on that pitch, it was clearly a mud-patch as everyone else who took a penalty showed when they tried to take a penalty. This has been proven because on the same british programme it showed how that pitch's penalty spot has had it's grass replaced with articficial grounding.

Some people really don't know how to lose don't they? I'm not trying to start any flaming I'm just pointing out that there are people who can't lose, and don't know how to lose with some dignity.
If you wanna blame the referee, go ahead if it makes you happy. I didn't blame the referee when we lost against Greece and if you saw the opening game you would know that I had good reasons to do it.

It's not that the English can't lose gracefully, as there was no cries of match fixing when England lost at any other tournament in recent history (except when Argentina beat England in 1986 when Maradona scored with his HAND! And if they weren't fixed refs, then no of em are) It's just that this year, England were finaly showing good form. Then they onc again had a controversial decision go against them, and we should be entitled to be angry as England fans. Anyone real footbal fan (neutral or not) who saw Campbell's goal should know that there was no infringment and the goal should have stood...

You're doing it again trying to provoke me into flaming you by saying I don't know when to lose, but once again you are
1. wrong
2. misunderstanding the points put across again
I'm not talking about the fact that England lost I'm talking about people saying things and then backing them up with things that are false, which is why I went through the points stated and explained why they are wrong.
I will not say this again DamRho if you lack the ability to understand the posts don't bother replying to them.

Don't talk out of your arse, his eyes were on the ball the whole time, he's a genuine English footballer, he'd never cheat like that to gain an unfair advantage unlike players from the rest of the world who dive continiously knowing the referees will give the penalties.
How the hell was he intentionally blocking the keeper anyway? Sol Campbell was holding him down and he was the one who the foul was given against.
now you're just making excuses to justify the win, don't do that, just admit Portugal are lucky to be in the semi's, if everyone can admit that, I'll let this arguement drop.
no-one has even mentioned that one of the biggest upsets for years just happened, but Greece played well, good luck to them against whichever team they play, I'm guessing it will be the Czechs, them along with Sweden have stood out as the teams of the tournament so far and are my guesses for the final, Czech Republic vs Sweden.

Both of you, watch Terry's eyes, they never leave the ball. He didn't know if it was a keeper or defender, I only thought that if he didnt jump, Campbell might have scored anyway...

1. Terry did block the goalkeeper. Yes, he did have his eyes on the ball, but he still blocked him from getting the ball. If Terry wouldn't have beem blocked him Campbell wouldn't have gotten the ball.
2. Yes, the referee shouldn't have given the foul against Campbell. Actually the referee shouldn't have disallowed the goal. I doubt he saw what happened. He just blew his whistle beacuse Ricardo fell. But would he have been in a better position and seen the whole thing he should have given the foul against Terry.
1. Yes, I did exagerate when I said Beckham was crap at taking penalties. I apologize for that. And yes, that wasn't his fault. I saw that after the game too. The pitch was like a mud-pool.
And about the disallowed goal. I would probably be arguing the same way you do if I was English.
Now I'm not going to argue anymore about this. If you want to then do so. But I won't.

I have to agree, France is my favorite team but during this Euro, They had tecnical problems and it looks like the didn't want to win. Greece scored a perfect goal, nothing to say about it, great center, great header. They diserve it.

Why am I wrong?
The goal was disallowed because there was a clear and obvious foul by John Terry.

I'll say this one more time just in case you've been having mental problems or something recently.
Terry did nothing wrong, he wasn't anywhere near the keeper, there is no rule that states that a player is not allowed to jump for the ball in the box.
The foul was given against SOL CAMPBELL NOT JOHN TERRY.
The referee made a genuine mistake giving disallowing the goal.
I will not say this again unless I have to, I have once again proven you wrong, stop trying to say otherwise.

I saw Sky Sports News on Friday and Eriksson had this to say in a press conference: "I went to see the ref after the game. I cannot tell you what he said, but I will say that all of us are human and make mistakes."

You deserved to win. Before the match I though you were gonna crush us with like, 3-0 or something. But the swedish players( whom are, by the majority of the swedish people(including me), considered heroes for getting to the quarterfinal) put up a great fight the whole match. Sure, I'm disappointed we didn't win, but it's not like two years ago when we lost against Senegal. I even cried a little when we lost then, cuz I really believed we had a chance to win that match.
As I said, before the match I didn't think we had a chance. But as the match progressed my hope rose. And when it got to extra time I thought we had a great chance of winning. But when Henke Larsson first hit the bar and Ljungberg later hit the post I got flashbacks to the Senegal match 2002 and I knew we would eventually lose.

Since you're the one who's flaming I won't even go as low as insulting you like you are insulting everybody else.
Since you also don't know the rules of football, which is made obvious by your comments, you should also quit posting about what you don't understand. It's perfectly reasonable that you don't know about football, since this is a Mortal Kombat website and not a website about football, so it's not that big of a sin. I do recommend, however, that you visit FIFA's official website since they have the rules of the game in a nice PDF file for your reading pleasure.
John Terry did jump in the box (which he is allowed to) but he also touched the goalkeeper in the process (which, in that particular location, is not allowed and is considered a foul). The referee, knowing the rules of the game - maybe he read the PDF file - rightfully disallowed the goal which was scored by Sol Campbell and not John Terry (who was too busy pushing the goalkeeper).

1. i wasn't flaming anyone, i was merely implying that you have mental problems due to your lack of ability to be able to read posts and understand what they are saying.
2. I'm getting bored of repeating myself but if i must then i must.
It was the referees opinion that SOL CAMPBELL fouled the goalkeeper when he scored the goal so he disallowed the goal, but he was mistaken and is forgiven due to the fact that he was standing too far away to be able to give a good judgement.
Why you must resort to keep repeating John Terry is beyond me, he was being held down by Sol Campbell, preventing him from doing anything, and further more clearing himself from doing anything to the keeper. Stop repeating John Terry, it was Sol Campbell the foul was given against, and has been shown time and time again that he did nothing wrong.
3. Stop hiding behind this act you keep putting on about not flaming people and being a better person.
4. I can assure you I fully know the rules of football, if you haven't already noticed I am from England, the country of which the sport was invented, for you to say I don't know the rules of football is like trying to tell the inventer of something how it's made, the stupidity of what you said speaks for itself.
