TOUGH one!

I had to go with Scorps...I love both characters...they're two of my franchise favorites, but Scorp has always been one of my go-to characters, along with Sub, Shang and Johnny. I really had to think on this one, but Scorps it is.

Edit: And my vote just made this a 50/50 matchup. Shit just got interesting.
Well, you all got your Tremor now. Can we finally move on?

Funny how Scorpion has been getting the shaft every year due to being "overrated", yet Sub-Zero gets a pass and has won more than one year this thing. Truly hypocritical!

That said, voted for Kenshi, who's my favorite character. Nothing against Scorpion though.

Scorpion. I really have to wonder what they'll do with him on MK11 seeing his role on MKX.

Interesting matchup. MKX was fairly kind to Scorpion, giving him the most character development we’ve seen for him in 20 years. Kenshi, on the other hand, just got lumped in with the Special Forces along with nearly every other faction and character of interest in Earthrealm. Not a fan of that particular move.

Kenshi was super interesting in the original timeline. The blind swordsman captured everyone’s hearts but has remained relatively idle since the reboot.

Kenshi’s stagnation makes Scorpion the clear winner here.

Voted for the lost soul(bent on revenge).

You work with what you got...not what you hope for.

What are you going to do? It is true, being overrated instantly grants you a free pass.
... here's your Subzero, now plain zero.

Bizarro voting against the popular characters is a load of donk. Kenshi is really good but Scorpion is great and I look forward to seeing who he drinks tea with next.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 3:
Shang Tsung versus Tanya
#10 Supreme Ranking #43
15 wins 6 losses Record 4 wins 6 losses
Semis (2014) Best Result Round 3 (2018)

Shang Tsung was sapped of his powers to fuel an attack on the heroes of Earthrealm. He hasn't been seen since, but does that really mean the master sorcerer is gone for good? Whispers of his return linger in MKX endings. Will a new Mortal Kombat tournament at last see Shang Tsung return?

Tanya chose to fight for the reign of Empress Mileena when Outworld was plunged into civil war. In truth, her loyalty lies with the lost realm of Edenia - still merged with the kingdom of Outworld years after Shao Kahn's demise. Could she be trusted to represent Outworld in a new tournament, or will it be her ticket to at last liberating Edenia?

Each has served the will of their Emperor, but their motives are never far from treachery. Will Shang Tsung and Tanya return to upset the balance in Outworld's favour - or their own? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

Love Tanya, but Shang Tsung is arguably the best villain of the entire series. How he hasn’t won this while Sub-Zero has won twice is baffling.

Shang or Kitana need to win this year.

Shang Tsung. Simply because I think he has to return, he is powerful. Whoa! I saw that Kenshi was winning, and in the end Scorpion passed.

whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 3:
Raiden versus Cyrax
#4 Supreme Ranking #16
22 wins 6 losses Record 12 wins 6 losses
Runner-Up (2013) Best Result Round 3 (2013)

Raiden used himself to cleanse Earthrealm's jinsei aura of the corruption wrought by fallen Elder God Shinnok. Darkened by the experience; the tnunder god protects his domain with renewed zeal -- warning potential enemies of the fury of his storm.

Cyrax was programmed to serve the Lin Kuei as an automated assassin, but upon his liberation by Sub-Zero, and defeat of Sektor, he chose to destroy himself rather than become new Grandmaster. In doing so he destroyed the remaining cyber warriors, granting the clan a fresh start under Kuai Liang.

Will Raiden's warning curb continued conflict with the Netherrealm - or fan the fires of war? Could Cyrax's tainted soul be made to return as a revenant soldier for new rulers? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

Liu Kang shared in the grim fate of Earthrealm's fallen warriors, becoming a revenant slave controlled by Quan Chi. His new master, and the fallen Elder God Shinnok were seemingly destroyed, leaving the corrupted Liu Kang to rise as new ruler of Netherrealm!

They fought as Shaolin warriors and champions of Earthrealm - but now Kung Lao and Liu Kang dwell in the fires of Netherrealm! Will Kung Lao be free to fight against his new ruler, or be subjugated to Liu Kang's reign in Hell? Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

Surprised Liu Kang is falling behind considering he’s the most interesting he’s been in years.

Kung Lao was a more interesting character in the original timeline. Unfortunately, ever since Shaolin Monks, he’s been stuck with the whole “impetuous warrior” act instead of the badass Shaolin monk who only fights when he has to.

Voted-Liu Kang

Voted-Liu Kang

I remember Kung Lao defeating Liu Kang in the same poll last year or two years ago, so I expected it.

I expect Kung Jin to play a role in restoring Kung Lao's soul in the future so I believe it's only a matter of time before he joins the good side again. With Liu Kang, it's more ambiguous since he's now the ruler of the Netherrealm. I look forward to seeing how things will turn out for Liu Kang: will he turn good or will he stay evil permanently.
