Scorpion

"Scorpion" was the code name of one of the Shirai Ryu's finest
warriors, a ninja assassin named Hanzo Hasashi. It is also known
that his father, a former member of the Shirai Ryu, forbade his son
from joining the clan, as he did not wish his son to live the life of an
assassin. However, Hanzo joined in spite of his father's wishes in
order to provide his wife and son with a comfortable life.

Scorpion was hired by Quan Chi to find a map hidden in the Himalayas.
However, Quan Chi had also requested for the services of Sub-Zero
the elder, who belonged to the rival Lin Kuei clan. The theory of hiring
two ninja was simple, in case one of them failed, the other would
succeed and Quan Chi would be closer to unlocking unknown and
ultimate power. Both Scorpion and Sub-Zero succeeded in getting
to their destination, the two met each other reaching for the same
map they were sent out to acquire.

Because the Shirai-Ryu and the Lin Kuei are natural and fierce enemies,
Sub-Zero and Hanzo fought, with Sub-Zero gaining the upper advantage.
As Hanzo lay on the ground, defeated, he begged and pleaded with
Sub-Zero to spare his life.

Sub-Zero decapitated him and left his body where it fell. Scorpion's
soul would then fall into the pits of the Netherealm itself. Shortly thereafter,
meeting Quan Chi in the netherrealm, Scorpion learned that the Lin Kuei,
following his death, had not only murdered him, but massacred his entire
clan and family. Scorpion becomes a spectre fueled by an undying thirst
for retribution, he vows to kill Sub-Zero.

After the elder Sub-Zero completed his goal of retrieving the amulet,
he was invited to participate in Shang Tsung's tournament of Mortal
Kombat, unknown to the Lin Kuei assassin, Scorpion had been
invited as well.

The two met on Shang Tsung's nethership, at which point Scorpion
grabbed Sub-Zero by the throat and said "You killed me in cold
blood exactly two years ago, to this day, but my demons have
allowed me to avenge my death. I could kill you at this moment,
but I am not a murderer. We will meet at the tournament, and
then, Lin Kuei, you will pay with your life."

While Scorpion and Sub-Zero did not meet during the actual tournament,
they did meet in the closing moments of Mortal Kombat, and true to his
word the hell-spawned spectre fought Sub-Zero in another fight to the
death. Proving to be too strong and powerful for the Lin Kuei warrior,
Scorpion slew his nemesis burning Sub-Zero to a charred skeleton. With
that, Scorpion violently bursts into flames, returning to the Netherealm.

A year later, Scorpion learned of Sub-Zero's plans to compete in
the second tournament. Enraged at the idea that his murderer had
somehow returned and his vengeance was incomplete, Scorpion
followed Sub-Zero into the realm of Outworld, where Shao Kahn
hosted the second tournament.

Scorpion stood in the distance watching one of Sub-Zero's battles,
in which he saw Sub-Zero sparing the life of an opponent. Scorpion
did not understand why the Lin Kuei warrior has grown so merciful.
He later came to the realization that this Sub-Zero was the younger
brother of his murderer, who was sent to complete his brother's
failed mission.

At the time, Scorpion vowed to be this new Sub-zero's guardian in
atonement for killing his older brother. Scorpion was then summoned
back to the damnation of the Netherealm.

When Shao Kahn invaded Earthrealm and unsuccessfully tried to
conquer the Netherealm as well, Scorpion was inadvertently set free,
and began walking the Earth once more. He pledged allegiance to
no one, taking neither friends nor enemies. Shao Khan, however,
recognized Scorpion's warrior skills, and enlisted the ninja in
his militant forces.

Scorpion's allegiance with Shao Khan quickly dissolved when he
discovered that the younger Sub-Zero, whom he had vowed to protect,
was one of Earth's Chosen warriors and a target of Shao Kahn's.
Scorpion turned on Shao Kahn, and sided with the Earthrealm warriors
in their final showdown with the evil emperor. With Shao Khan and his
minions defeated, Earth reverted back to normal, causing Scorpion to
return to the Netherrealm once more.

Several years later, Scorpion was deceived by Quan Chi into believing
that the younger Sub-Zero was indeed involved in the murders of his family and clan. Quan Chi also offered him life in exchange for the spectre's assistance in the war with the Elder Gods, which Scorpion eagerly accepted.

Scorpion eventually caught up with Sub-Zero, and the two began
their final battle; after a long, epic battle, Scorpion emerged the
victor. As Scorpion stood triumphantly over Sub-Zero, the defeated
warrior proclaiming innocence, Quan Chi appeared and revealed
that he had arranged for the killing of the Shirai-Ryu and Scorpion's
family.

Before Scorpion could speak, Quan Chi attempted to send him
back to the Netherrealm. Scorpion grabbed Quan Chi before the
sorcerer could complete his spell, sending them both into the dreaded
realm.

During the years that Quan Chi spent trapped in the fifth plane of
the Netherealm, he would be chased, brutalized, and tortured by
Scorpion. Quan Chi had little chance of escape, as his powers were
weakened while he was in the Netherealm, and Scorpion's power
and strength conversely increased.

Quan Chi eventually struck a deal with the Oni Drahmin and Moloch,
who fought off Scorpion for him. When Quan Chi escaped the
Netherealm through a portal, Scorpion followed him, but the volatile
portal did not send him to the same place. Scorpion arrived in
Outworld continuing to chase Quan Chi in a game of cat-and-mouse.

The hunt for Quan Chi had led Scorpion to the palace of Shang Tsung.
Scorpion entered the palace through a hidden passage. As he made
his way through the lower levels, he was discovered by the two Oni
he had previously encountered while in the Netherrealm. Shang Tsung
had secretly allied with Moloch and Drahmin as a backup defense
against Quan Chi.

Scorpion fought well but was overpowered by Moloch and Drahmin.
Although they could not consume the ninja spectre, they devised
another means for eliminating their foe that would satisfy their cruel
nature. The Oni brought Scorpion before the portal to the Heavens
that Shang Tsung had tapped as a source of limitless souls. The Oni
hurled him into the soulnado

Scorpion, however, managed to escape into the Void before the purity
of the soulnado tore him apart. While in the Void, he met the Elder
Gods, in whom he had never believed, and forever became changed
from what he saw.

Scorpion witnessed Raiden's sacrifice and Onaga's dominance
beginning to unfold. The Elder Gods became aware of his presence
and enhanced his mortal and supernatural abilities, making him their
champion. The Elder Gods gave him a new mission, to seek and
destroy Onaga before he unmade the realms. For the first time in his
life, Scorpion descended from the heavens and back into Outworld,
where his mission began. And this time, the realm’s survival may
depend on his success.

I’ll fill out how exactly he turned on the elder gods once we get
his bio.

I felt like trying this out. Want to see more?

Wow, that is very nice!

I can tell this took you a lot of time and effort, so I appreciate you doing it. It's very entertaining and enlightening at the same time, and you did a great job assuring the relevancy between the pictures and what part of the story you were at!

I'd love to see more just like this for the other characters! I request Sonya and Millena for the near future! grin

Hope you keep it up! I'll definitely check back for more!

Sounds a bit like a copy and paste of Wikipedia's article on Scorpion to me...

Nonetheless, this was a good post, but what are we going to do with this thread? Talk about potential storyline, desired future, and speculations, or just to make his story clear? Nice pictures, by the way.

Not to sound like a jerk or anything, but what's the point of this thread if we can just read ourselves? Unless, of course, you wanted to talk about potential storyline, desired future, and speculations, then I'm in. Nice pictures, by the way.

I got most of the storyline from Kamidogu.com and a few various other places, of which I forgot to give credit to. The point of this thread is to fit pictures matching the events of what's happening, or to better enhance the feeling of what is truly going on.

Sure, I’d like to give it a shot. I can’t tonight though.

Bah, didn't edit it in time, lol. Read it over, thought I sounded like too much of a jerk. Anyways, I see. Looking forward to more; do you any plans to make threads for other prominent figures?

Wow! Just..Wow...Very nice man.

I think we need you to do this for more of the characters...
I'll request you do Raiden somewhere in the future...Or...?

Keep this up though man. This is probably the best opportunity for pure cannon storylines I've seen in a looong time.

Sub-Zero

Following the death of his older brother and failure to kill Shang Tsung, the young Lin Kuei warrior was sent to Outworld to complete this assignment after Shao Kahn's Mortal Kombat tournament was announced. Sub-Zero quickly encounters an opponent. As Sub-Zero defeats this opponent, he mercifully spares his life.

Despite their efforts, neither Sub-Zero or Smoke accomplished the mission that they were tasked to do for the Lin Kuei. Although they did assist Liu Kang and Raiden in the battle with Shao Kahn, they returned home empty handed.

Once the Lin Kuei obtained technology that could vastly improve the effectiveness of their warriors, they chose four of their members to undergo the procedure that would turn them into cyborg assassins: Sub-Zero, Smoke, Cyrax, and Sektor.

Sub-Zero and Smoke refused to participate, and fled the clan, who declared them marked for death. While Sub-Zero successfully managed to escape, Smoke was captured and subsequently turned into a cyborg. In leaving the clan, Sub-Zero had broken the Lin Kuei codes of honor. After Smoke's automation, the Lin Kuei programmed the three cyborg ninjas to hunt and terminate Sub-Zero.

Sub-Zero eventually encountered Smoke and managed to awaken his
consciousness, which then overrode Smoke's Lin Kuei programming.
With Smoke now as his ally, Sub-Zero battled and defeated both Sektor and Cyrax.

However, instead of destroying Cyrax, Sub-Zero reprogrammed the cyborg to hunt and terminate Shao Kahn. Smoke was less fortunate, he was captured by troops of Outworld and transported to Shao Kahn’s fortress. Around this time, Raiden’s chosen warriors defeated Shao Kahn, ending his take over of Earthrealm.

As the threat of Shinnok arose, Raiden once again called upon Sub-Zero to assist in the defense of Earth.

But, at the same time, Quan Chi had convinced Scorpion that Sub-Zero still retained some responsibility for the destruction of the Shirai Ryu, turning the spectre's hostile attentions to Sub-Zero once more. Sub-Zero met Scorpion in Goro's Lair and the two fought, with Scorpion gaining the upper hand. When it seemed that Scorpion was going to kill Sub-Zero, the Lin Kuei warrior revealed that he had no role in the murder of the Shirai Ryu.

Quan Chi, believing that Sub-Zero was about to die nonetheless, readily confessed his unholy act to Scorpion, who then turned on Quan Chi and transported the sorcerer into the Netherrealm, Sub-Zero was now free from Scorpion’s curse.

In the years following, Sektor came back with a vengeance. Sektor successfully killed the Lin Kuei Grand Master, but was stopped from claiming the Dragon Medallion, the proof of the clan's leadership, by a returning Sub-Zero. Realizing that Sektor posed as a threat, Sub-Zero
challenged the cyborg for leadership of the Lin Kuei.

The future of the Lin Kuei hung in the balance as Sub-Zero and the ninja cyborg Sektor battled for control of the Dragon Medallion. Sub-Zero defeated Sektor and then claimed the title of Grand Master.

With his freezing powers enhanced by the medallion, he vowed to reform the Lin Kuei as a force for good. Sub-Zero relocated the clan to a remote location in the frozen Arctic where he had discovered an ancient temple frozen into the side of a glacier. There, the new Lin Kuei could home their skills without interruption.

During a mission in Outworld, the demon known as Sareena encountered Sub-Zero.

Since she had freed his brother from his confines of the Netherrealm so many years ago, Sub-Zero offered her asylum within the Lin Kuei.

His compassion may be honorable, but befriending a demon of the Netherrealm is not an action without risk... as Sub-Zero may soon discover.

Raiden appeared before Sub-Zero and asked for his aid in defeating the Deadly Alliance in Outworld. Fighting alongside Raiden would prove to the world that the Lin Kuei had changed for the better. Sub-Zero accepted the challenge and brought with him one of his newest recruits. It was highly unusual for the Grand Master to embark on such a dangerous mission, but Sub-Zero felt it was necessary to earn the respect of his fellow Lin Kuei.

Sub-Zero had reformed the Lin Kuei clan and held a tournament to recruit the best of the best. The winner was a mysterious female named Frost who seemed to have freezing abilities similar to those of Sub-Zero. Breaking with Lin Kuei tradition, the new Grand Master, Sub-Zero, took it upon himself to train this new recruit. With his help, Frost was able to better harness her Kori powers.

As the two traveled Outworld by way of the Dragonfly, Sub-Zero revealed to Frost that he was proud to have her as a member of the Lin Kuei clan. But unknown to Sub-Zero, Frost's true intention for joining the Lin Kuei was to become Grand Master herself. She used her ice blast to temporarily immobilize him and ripped the Dragon Medallion from Sub-Zero’s chest.

As she held the medallion, she felt power surge through her body. Lacking the strength and discipline required to control the medallion's immense power, she was consumed by her own freezing ability.

As Sub-Zero searched for a place to bury Frost, he encountered the ruins of an Outworld civilization capable of manipulating cold. After careful study and examination of this race, the cryomancers, he came to the realization that he and Frost were descendants of this race. Burying and forgiving Frost for her rashness, Sub-Zero donned the armor of his newly discovered heritage and headed to meet Raiden and the remaining Earthrealm forces.

On his way to the rendezvous point with Raiden and the others, Sub-Zero was ambushed by a band of Tarkatan warriors in the Living Forest. He tried to outrun them, but there were too many. He was quickly surrounded. Sub-Zero decided that his last living deed would be to vanquish as many of these barbarians as he could before he succumbed to death.

As Sub-Zero began his attack, he felt his armor speak to him. It guided and strengthened each blow as he broke their limbs and crushed their skulls.

Locating a beaten and battered Kenshi on the verge of death. Sub-Zero proceeded to aid the defeated warrior. As Kenshi recovered, Sub-Zero made a temporary alliance as they searched for a way back to Earthrealm.

Sub-Zero returned to Earthrealm only to find many of his clan slain by Frost. She had come back to the Lin Kuei temple with the intention of killing only him, but she was now delirious and saw Sub-Zero everywhere.

Sub-Zero blasted her with intense cold, freezing her until she could be revived and cured of her dementia. He laid her on an altar in the chamber of fallen Lin Kuei and sealed the room with a wall of ice. Frost will one day recover. When that day comes, she will have to answer for her crimes against the Lin Kuei.

Hope you enjoy, I’ll do Sonya/Mileena/Raiden’s next.

(I started on Sub-Zero’s before Scorpion’s and wanted to finish it first.)

Excellent again bro.

Only thing is, I feel like there's something missing....Mk1 & Mk2 stuff maybe? The very begining? I could be wrong...

You know what? These are actually helping me understand more, what the "cannon" stories are of the characters I never gave full attenion to. As I'm not a completely "sequential" person, I'm a shapes guy. And it says alot considering I thought I knew alot about Sub-Zero. Most of his story I was "factually" unfamiliar with.

I wanna be able to offer up information for things that you might miss for those characters I do know about.

Also, this last one reads like "Just the Facts". Could you

1. ellaborate or offer little oppinions of your own in there?
2. go from Mk1-MkD

Idk, I just think there seems to be something missing.

Yeah, I see.

With #1.
I was trying not to add too much of my own detail to the text, I didn’t want to make it something different entirely. It may be unnoticeable, but I was adding small details to fill in blank spots or help it connect better as a whole.

I could add opinions at the bottom next time, maybe state what I think their future could be.

With #2.
I think the only thing skipped is what the younger Sub-Zero did pre-MK2, but the only thing mentioned was of Sub-Zero’s father with Sub-Zero still very young (probably not even a teenager yet).

From Sub-Zero Mythologies:
“Born in America, Sub-Zero was the oldest of three children, which included a brother and sister. Their mother wanted a normal life for her sons, who had already been chosen by the Lin Kuei to become warriors for the clan. She tried in vein to hide them from their father whose own life in America was only a cover for his true identity and purpose. Eventually they were found and their father returned with them to his homeland. Their mother and sister were never seen or heard from again.”

I also skipped events that had little effect overall, like Scorpion/Sub-Zero training Shujinko, and other small events that didn’t have much purpose in konquest. Also instead of putting which game it was in each time period, making it into a large connecting story, not trying to make it too choppy.

Holy awesome! This is absolutely fantastic! The pictures are awesome and move the story along nicely. Now, did you get all of these pictures from MK or did you make any yourself? 'Cause the one picture of what looks like Cyrax looking at Sub-Zero looks like you might have made it yourself. Either way, absolutely awesome.

And, if you're still taking requests, can you do one for Smoke and Reptile?
