Man, I'm kinda divided on this.

Pros-
- The neck piece is an original touch
- Her hair is very nice indeed, I was drawn to that immediately. To be honest, it's one of the most gorgeous hair-styles I've ever seen on an MK character smile

Cons-
- I'm sorry but she looks like a crack-whore, especially in her pose with the fans where she looks like she's thrusting her groin at you. Not elegant and princessy at all.
- Her makeup looks cheap and deters from her graceful asian look
- Her clothes look like some ungodly cheap plastic lingerie
- Her thighs are way too fat
- Her mask looks positioned strangely, like it could fall off her face any minute
- The high-heels are just ridiculous, they don't suit her at all

I'm sorry if I appear harsh, but that's only because I see an incredible amount of potential in your work. Kitana as a character is very sexy and mysterious, but you've taken her beyond sexy and into the realm of sheer and almost cartoony sleaziness. The costume doesn't do her justice. But like I said I'm absolutely in love with her hair style and I would love to see it again. If you can tone down her sleaziness so one costume is regal and elegant while another one is strong and womanly, you would have a perfect Kitana render on your hands. Also, please make her look more asian ^_^ 2/5

Ouch. One of the problems with rendering something, anything, especially from scratch, is that you never know just how it'll look, and after several hours, something "crappy" could look great, just because it doesn't look "terrible." And one of the problems with posting it is that it's the first time I can get feedback.

So...

1. The pose was all my fault, I guess. I picked a standard, defensive style martial art pose by looking at a magazine and that's exactly how it looks in the picture. If it seems "whorish", then I guess it was just the wrong pose to use. I'll modify the pose.

2. All textures I do by hand, and I had a hard time with her make-up, since I quite literally "painted" on her rather than using an actual texture of make-up, which probably makes her look too "flat" and, by extension, "fake." I'll modify that.

3. I used a latex-lighting model for her clothing, but I guess that didn't pan out as well as I planned. ... but, hey, they still look more expensive than the costumes from Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

4. I didn't think I had any problems with the thigh morphs. If necessary, I'll look back and tone them up a bit.

5. The mask was actually a veil I used in another model, so I should probably just go back and do it from scratch again....

6. Concerning the high heels... hasn't she, like, always worn high heels? Sorry, but you'll have to be more specific on that one.

Anyway, I'm gonna head back and re-do her a bit and post the touch-up later. I'll address all those issues and hopefully have a more "professional" pic up soon. Thanks for the feedback. I would hate it if everyone just said "great job!" when they felt something was off.

Alright. Here's an updated version of my render. It's pretty similar (if only in the design), but I changed a whole lot of subtle things (such as the mask, the latex-maps, the make-up, the eyes, the skin bumps, etc.) so let me know what you think.

Don't mind Fed. He bashes/low scores anything that he doesnt have the skills to do himself. 4/5 easily. 4.5/5 for the updated version

Ignore UR, he bases his entire reviews on how well he likes a person or how their work is compared to his.

The previous arguments stated were very valid, and the new one is a great improvement upon all said points. The only thing I'd consider spending more time on is the face.

Classy, man. Bringing your own childish heat onto someone else's thread. tsk-tsk for shame.

Garlador, I hope you didn't take what he said seriously. I may have given it a low score but that's only because I see so much more potential in this work, potential which you have proved in your update. Let's get onto that, shall we?

- You were right about the high heels, so I detract that statement from before. I still don't think any MK fighter should wear high-heels, but thats MK's fault, not yours.
- I'm really impressed by the fact that all the makeup was done from scratch
- Great job replacing the mask, it looks much better now
- Her striking pose is much better than the old one and actually bring more focus on her fan weapons which is good (one pose for beauty, one to show her skills, sorta like a Miss Universe pageant ^_^)
- Im still not a fan of her costume, but you've improved on it at least. The only thing I would consider changing if it was up to me would be to extend the top part of her suit so you can still see some cleavange but not too much skin, if you get what I mean
- Her face is improved, it's just not a very "kitana-ish" kinda face. But seriously dude I'm not too bothered by that because I realise how hard it is to create renders from scratch and you've done an impressive job with it as it is.

Like you said, this is the first chance you've had to get feedback, and believe me it will make you so much better for it. Take what you want from our critiques becuase in the end you have to create what you like, not what everyone else likes. After seeing this and your Sareena render I'm expecting great things from you ^_~

Yes, the alternate version of the render is much better. I think you made her skin transparent though, by accident I guess, because you can see the background through her. I'd like to see that fixed. Nice work again. grin

I noticed that too, but I guessed it was on purpose cos that's how some renders look.

Yeah, I made the background render transparent on purpose to make the foreground render stand out more. It was originally a solid render... and I guess I could send you it if you desperately needed it.

Thanks for the critiques.

Damn! I'm liking this. I really like everything about them both. I'm one to notice errors, but this time, i'll just like for what it is.

4.5/5

The alternate looks better, but Im afraid I dont really like the costume.

Well, the costume is ok in itself, but to me, Its really not all that different to what we've seen Kitana in before, in that its pretty much a One-Piece Swimsuit type costume, with boots and gloves.

The image itself is very well done and looks good though.

I definitely prefer the second version of the renders. Kitana is my favorite character, so there are ways that I wish she'd look, but I can't discredit your renders. They're definitely good, and you have your own vision of the character. I'd love to see her look more to her MK:DA alt outfit, because I prefer a more feminine soft Kitana, then a hardened warrior. The costume is a little too revealing for Kitana I think. It borders a more Mileena-esque ensemble, but it's not bad. The hooker style platform boots need to go though, sorry to say. Keep her in heels, but not so hookerish with the platform soles. The hair I'm kind indifferent on. I like how wild it is, but I'm not sure if I really like it. Despite everything I still think you did a really great job with it.

I didn't try to reinvent Kitana so much as adapt her... but I keep hearing that she's a little "oversexed"... if that's the case, I don't know if I'll be allowed to post my upcoming Mileena render. Lol. Oh boy... we'll see...

But thanks for the feedback guys! I'm glad you liked it.

I Really like all four poses. The front pose of the first picture being the least for fore-mentioned reasons, but I like all four.

Also, I don't get the "too sexy" deal from any of the pictures...meh

The second picture is obviously better overall though.

Good job. I'm in love with the hair, you did a good job. The only thing I really see is that I like her background pose in the first one better. It seems more natural *I know this is small, but her hands in the first one were posed really good and I couldn't help but notice. I'm a loser lol. And her right thigh looks a little iffy, maybe that's just me*. And maybe the texture of her costume should be closer to her game counterpart. The females of Mortal Kombat tend to underdress anyways, I think it's the texture though that's making it stand out even more. But I really like this one and think you did a great job...

hi Garlador, I like your style and I think you are doing a great job. Hope to see Jade some day ;P

I liked her top on the first render and the fact her breast weren't that big on it. Her breasts are ridiculously big in the second render, kinda like Mai Shiranui from King of Fighters... It also looks like she is much more slender in the first render, more athletic looking, while in the second she looks less trained and muscular.
The second render looks much better in pose, face, mask etc, but her boots o both looks like blue tinfoil. They are a bit too shiny, but I guess the fabric is supposed to look like that.
Her make-up on the first looks plain and has improved in the second. I am a fan of dark make-up that really sets focus at the eyes, and you did that in the second render.

Overall I like her outfit and hope to see a more royal outfit as her alternate, maybe a battle-dress of sorts.
