Ivan, Velia, Matilda, and Kali stand out to me as having a lot of potential. I'm particularly intrigued by the latter two -- a Cage relative could have interesting implications for his character ("Uncle? Oh, thank the Gods, I thought you were going to say I was your father! My career isn't ready for that....") and any Order character more interesting than Hotaru is welcome in my book.

I don't even like Hotaru, but I find the whole Seido story fascinating.
I figured I'd expand on the story a little bit (or a lot, lol) to cover some interesting parts to it.
As for Matilda, I knew having her as Cage's sister or daughter would be heavily cliché, to say the least. So, I went with the next best thing: his neice! I know Cage has to love someone other than himself, so I gave him her.
As for Ivan, I felt there wasn't enough focus on GKL's time period, so I decided to bring that period to the present with Ivan. I think it's cool to have a character who was once supportive of the bad guy and now wants to turn anew.

Voting? Balderdash, I say! Why, it's only been four months -- far too soon to engage in such bona fide piggly-wiggly.
It is clear that the Elder Gods have failed us. The fate of the tournament must be decided as it should be -- in MORTAL KOMBAT!!!

At this point Uresula has tied up at least four other contestants and is currently holding another at poon-point. (That's gun-point for harpoons.....) The police have tried opening negotiations, but she took a q-tip to her ear drums long ago out of sheer boredom induced insanity......
But her hair... Dear god, her hair. What a greasy, tangled, floppy mess of a white-lady-afro it has become. Time has not been kind.

Well- I think enough time has passed tto say that Scorpion once again flew into thee Soulnado, and gave birth to a new Phantom who can retcon the original. Now he can have a normal story.

Is there a character list for this year's tournament?

If you're referring to KAK7, you can find it here.
If you are referring to a newer tournament, which would be KAK8, that tournament has yet to begin. Sadly, KAK7 has been halted indefinitely.

So, one of the judges has been busy updating the MKO homepage and just introduced another annual tournament, "Supreme Mortal Kombat Champion," which features the MK regulars. What happened to concluding the seventh "Kreate-A-Kharacter" tournament? I had two local art exhibitions and, although my character was eliminated back in January, this exhibition/competition is still inconclusive.
I have a new, very original boss character for this year's tournament. Since the judges have mishandled 2012's tournament (a four-month hiatus-- and still counting --until the start of the quarter finals), I am debating on whether to submit the beast.
Let's hope that, if this tournament is retconned and KAK8 begins in its place, a projected competition schedule with an end date is posted in the rules section, and that the tournament ACTUALLY ENDS with a known, voted winner.

There's (obviously) been an on-going snag and one or two other things along the way. We're still trying to resolve it, primarily to make sure we can have a good, interesting, and most of all smooth run to the finish.
Hopefully the other things going on around the site can offer an interesting alternative and I can come back with a concrete start for the finals soon. It hasn't been ideal to delay the finals like this, but it should still be a very interesting conclusion, with a small but fun twist. Thanks for being patient, guys. Cheers.

If this tournament does sadly end up being retconned, I do hope the semi-finalists all receive prizes of some sort.
They deserve something, you know? Especially for waiting this long.
My biggest fear is that, at this point, the majority of them have abandoned the tournament.

After my miserable failure in Phantom, I'm getting antsy over KaK8, so I can do this correctly. And after Mick's tip about KaK8 having crossover potential, I can't wait!
OK, I can wait a bit.

Even if we have to revise the method, there'll be a KAK7 winner.

Wasn't me... I've been frantically trying to decipher all these cryptic riddles about what's really going on behind this tournament -- which I'm now convinced is secretly a front to sacrifice the winner's soul to Ed Boon in exchange for getting Martian Manhunter as DLC for Injustice.

I actually liked Phantom a bit.
He wasn't totally bad. He just needs a little tweaking, like any character.

Eh. A bit more than a little. Especially story-wise and gameplay wise.
If I recall, a character named Alloy controlled metal.

Mine had some interesting abilities.
I think I also made someone cringe with her one fatality too. I definitely need to redraw her. I could do so much better.
