Wow.. for the first time in my life I actually managed to win something..


I don't know what to say , first of I want to thank the guys at MKO for making this contest possible. Secondly all the people that have voted for me and appreaciated my effort .
I have had this character in mind , since they anounced MK :A , this has been almost 7 years of constant trial and error for me , but now I can finally lay him to rest and start fresh.

JAX007 has been my idol since 2007, he was the reason I started drawing in the first place . Just to think that I will have my original character drawn by my idol makes me appreciate this moment even more.

I promise from now on I will better myself as an artist , so much that someday the prize of the next tournament will be my original art

And to umbrascitor , you are always going to be my more than worthy rival. I hope you comeback for the next one , because you can bet your head I will be comming back better than ever! EDIT: umbrascitor there might be a little something for you we shall see how my inspiration is going this evening..

Here is Umbrascitor 's rival gift , you have to view it in full size , otherwise it's pretty much pointless . I did the face in 5 minutes , the hat in 10 but I have been sitting here trying to upload this for a good hour

Congratulations to 2012's KAK Champion, Ekimaru, and to the Runner-Up, Eastwind (umbrascitor)! I felt the contest could go either way, but I rooted for Ekimaru because he fit in more with the principal cast of the MK universe. Ekimaru showed class by presenting umbrascitor with Eastwind renders.

Eastwind seemed a bit out of place; he could have been a hidden/guest/DLC character. His "Kharacter Beatdown," which included statements of having relations with the regular kombatants and perhaps tonguing Sonya, made him appear as either a quest character (Shujinko/Taven) or a parody character (Meat/Mokap)-- all characters of which have been not too well-received by fans.

As a first-time KAK participant, I enjoyed the tournament overall-- except for the growing impatience/anticipation during the five-month hiatus. Perhaps the judges will use the two-bracket system like the Quarter Finals and Semi Finals to speed up/finish the KAKVIII Tournament all in one month.

My character is ready for KAKVIII; I promise that he is very original (a lot more than Blizzard) and that he is more ruthless than most of the principal kombatants. Stay tuned for the monster's unveiling later this year.

Hat's off to you, mate! You worked hard for this and clearly put your love into it, and it's good to see you get your due moment. And Mal is right -- that was damn fine of you to do an Eastwind shot. The smoke is a nice touch! Wish I'd thought of it.

As for me, I've learned quite a bit over this tournament experience between the reviews, the debates, and even the long hiatus. I'll likely be back next time, though I don't really have any well-formed ideas yet.

And so new 8th tournament would be around then. Is that such a good idea to do best of the best tournament then?? Or better now??

My exorcist and monster fighter is already set and currently cleaning his firearms. They make his job easier when he's not in strict kombat, OR if he wants fights to be over with quicker.

He will be waiting outside of everyone else's eyesight. Well, relatively speaking. His bio shows that he'll be pulled into the skirmish via a portal.

We're capping this off by adding some post-tournament judge's remarks to the bottom of character profiles. We're all pretty busy, so don't expect every character to get done overnight (only a few for now).

If you're really super keen, you can shoot a request. Consider it a bonus for the folks who are actually, honestly sticking around. Again, we're very busy, so keep that in mind.

Judges Remarks
Judge: TonyTheTiger (Mortal Kombat Online Forum Administrator)

The first thing that struck me was that Persephone was the personification of an actual realm. It puts an unusual spin on how the realms actually work. And while it can be off putting to see these kinds of liberties in fan fiction, this one didn't strike me as too far fetched. When judging KAK, I always approach it from the mindset of whether or not the character would be at home in an official Mortal Kombat product, and a realm having supernatural consciousness does not break my suspension of disbelief in that respect.

As for her appearance, I think the black and white dynamic is unnecessary. Not only is the black/white symbolism tired, it doesn't do anything to enhance her character. A black alternate costume is fine but leave it as that, just an alternate costume. No need to try to tie it into her story. That being said, her appearance is a welcome simplicity from the overdesigned messes that are common in fanfiction (both for MK and in general). Persephone has a unified motif and runs with it nicely.

Her fighting style is equally creative. It's always a risk to introduce a character who has fundamentally different controls from the rest of the cast. There is a good chance the character will wind up too weak to matter or frustratingly strong. But sometimes it does pay off and Mortal Kombat is no stranger to experimenting with characters who handle differently.

I must say I agree with TonyTheTiger on Persephone's costumes, which is why I ultimately ended up relieving the white costume costume and stuck to black. I must say, the black suits Persephone perfectly, especially considering her name.

Huh, I'd liked to know what the judges thought of my witch doctor.

I might either retry her again or do something different for the next tournament. I just liked that fatality with the worm I thought up of.

if it's not to much trouble I'd like to know the thoughts on my characters sphere from the judges. even if I have to wait a while it's worth it. so I can improve in the next tournament.

I've finally got some good images of my character for the KAK8 tournament.

I hope it starts soon.

Personally, I'd much rather that I not be given one for my lady. I already know what it's going to say. What I've already been ribbed over by someone here.


But my entry for the eighth tournament is all set -- sans an alternate outfit, but I'll get it commissioned up sometime very soon -- and everything's there that needs to be there in a nice, compact bio that can stand on its own without raising questions. The character is easily believable. His nature and his outfit is a symbolic parody of a Church-employed exorcist in a more casual look and style, but he is NOT bound by the Church since he knows that multiple deities exist (Raiden, Fujin, the Elder Gods, etc).

That is the ONLY written teaser you get of my entry. You'll see everything when submission time comes for the new tournament. But if you want to see his primary outfit in the meantime, then ask me and I'll send you the link.
