This is the first thread like this.

This thread is just something simple to let folks get a glimpse of the education I'm getting, and to get a sense of the results. Since Photoshop is pretty normally used everywhere, I'll try to share some of the stuff they have me doing in school with that program. Like in the first thread.

I'm also digging into 3D rendering and animation right now so, I'll also try to share some of that stuff when it's reasonable to do so.

Here's the first assignment I did in one of my classes. It's a "how to" tutorial based in instructional design. Basic-basic concept here, so the idea really isn't the emphasis. The emphasis is mainly on...you guessed it...instructions, and the design. lol Click each picture to see its full size:

To get a good sense of what I did to the picture, here is the stock image of the dvd player in the above image before I did anything to it. It's the dvd player from my basement entertainment center. That t.v. is what I play you guys on, when I'm on LIVE. lol

Turned out like this all put together [small pic]

Yes, this is one of two assignments I did while taking a break from making those animated avatars. The other one is just a basic lab for my 3ds Max class. Grapes. That is the result at the end of that tutorial (no textures no nothin'), and I did do some extra stuff to them since this picture, but I think that's enough uploading school stuff for today.

If you're also in school, feel free to post some of your own stuff(projects that are related or unrelated to mk stuff//W.I.P. stuff// Learning stuff w/e). If not, feel free to post stuff anyway. And as always, critiques and opinions are welcomed.

ah great thread. Your project is looking really good. Clean and very easy to read interface. I need to learn how to do stuff like that.

I might post some of my WIP's later.

alrighty

This is a WIP I'm working on. This is the first time, I'm really using Illustrator and I'm simply just experimenting with the program. The person depicted here is suppose to be Hiro from the Heroes t.v show. But yeah, I know it really doesnt look him. If anyone knows where i can find useful illustrator toturials, i'd appreciate it.

The next image, is something I recently finished. It was done on Painter X. It's Adam and Eve getting kicked out of Eden. I really like the end result of this one.

And the next image is none other than our very own TJ a.k.a Rijo. This was intended as a gift. It was also very good practice.

Great work man... The one for Rijo is particularly good.

I think it's more about your style than anything that is enticing, it lends to a very fantasy prone, very elaborate in its construction art style. Can't think of any pros off hand, but I know it when I see it. It also has a very old, very Van Gogh feel to it too.

The combination of new and old that you do is great. Once you refine your style, you could be in for some big bucks.

I don't know of any good tuts for Illustrator as I'm also just beginning a class with that program, but here's a good site to bookmark if you don't already know about it. CGSociety. There's so much great stuff in that community, I visit it in moderation. A site like that has the potential to completely change your perspective on graphic art, so be careful. Their galleries are fantastic so prepare to be utterly humbled. lol

1.) -- Back at ya...

Base image of a 2 page magazine article I had to do. And now its also both my twitter bg, and my new desktop image. If it fits, I don't care if people use it too.

I didn't aim high, so it came out waay better than I thought it would. There was also a Sonya image for a potential page 3-4, and a Kitana image that I didn't finish for a page 5-6. Couldn't quite nail down Kitana's image before I turned that project in last week.

Oh, and I gotta call "First!" on this one, I haven't seen anyone representing the WB in their art in such a way just yet. haha... Tried to make a sig out of it, but eh...I still suck at making those right now for some reason.

I've had some other stuff done as well, but it's Live material. Web designs, a few logos, and so on. Question of integrity to post that stuff here...you understand. When everything's up and running though, I'll try to post some links to the businesses webpages.

2.) -- A Lab Nuttin special. I know it was about 3 weeks ago, but I can't even remember why we did this thing.

3.) -- Blizcon '09 Poster Mock up

The final result looked almost identical. Made with Indesign, Photoshop Cs3, 3ds Max.

4.) -- Michael Jai White is Kai

Manip I did a couple weeks ago. Submitted a Fan Submission, but they must not have liked it for whatever reason. *shrugs*.

Those are my braids btw. This image looks natural enough to where it seems like I didn't do much too it.

I think that's all I can show right now, but I been busy like crazy lately. heh..

The Kai one is awsome. The stripes/scars look really convincing. I keep forgetting that's the guy who played the role of Spawn. He also has a minor role in the Dark Knight.
