Had a lot of requests for Sonya. I might have to space these out more so that people won't just brush over them. I'm not sure how others will feel, but I liked this one. It was one of the harder and longer ones I did, simply because I ultimately ended up with 3 seperate designs that I was comfortable with.

Beautiful. You did a fantastic job. The designs are lovely and the render is beautiful. She looks so pretty and so tough at the same time.

Hmm. Seems like the constructive criticism has gone to hell on this site.
Anyway, it's real nice. 4/5.

Actually I think it's a fair question.
As a modeller myself I know it takes quite a bit of time to fully put a model together, and you seem to be burning through them pretty quickly.
Of course I assume you made all these a while ago and are submitting them in one large clump.
But I also remember you saying in one you used a combination of 3ds and Poser, so I'm just curious what your process is if you don't mind me asking?

And thus yet another opportunity is tossed to the wolves...
Well, to answer a few things, since people are asking me alot, I am posting the vast majority of these in bulk and they're from a while ago. I use both a combination of pre-made models with customized ones I've done myself. Regardless of pre-made models, I will tweak all of them to avoid using just a bare template. Every texture on the model I do myself, however, along with a big majority of the poses, clothing, and props. The only thing I really don't do myself is the character models themselves, since it's notoriously difficult to make one from scratch every time.
I use Poser models as templates and export them to 3D Studio Max (which I don't own, but I'm attending an art college with a major in Media Art and Animation so I get to use it for free) and then work off from there. After I get everything posed and rigged up, I render the image in low, low resolution (it only takes about ten to twenty minutes... as opposed to two to three hours that way) and export it to photoshop, where I add backgrounds, fix minor mistakes, or just get artsy with it.
But building the models themselves does take a long, long time, and while it may seem like I'm churning them out like candy, I've had these sitting in my folder for a very, very long time. If someone wants to see my "in-progress" pics, they can, but they aren't pretty. And I'm almost out of old material anyway. All I have left in the wings is Scorpion, Quan Chi, and Li Mei.... but I still tweak my old stuff too since I technically still have their data on file.
Okay, was that a good enough rant? Good. Hope that helped.
It's very nice, the model is great, my only issue is that her face looks like it's a bit too elongated, could just be me. The texture for the clothes and hair are great. Her skin seems to be lacking in detail and colors, for example there's no red in her cheeks, it looks like her skin is mostly the same color. Over all it's very good, 4/5. EDIT: It would be nice if you could post the texture, so I could actually see how it looks.
hehe nice work. Simple yet that's pretty much what Sonya should look like.
Pros:
- interesting hair style. Ive never seen that on sonya before and it looks a little like Tarja from MK Conquest (i think that was how you spelt her name)
- good job in going for the classic cargo look instead of the brights tights we're used to seeing (though that could also work as an alternate costume)
- THANK YOU for not giving her gargantuan tits. Honestly, it's ridiculous what they did with her breasts in MKDA
Cons:
- I'm not a big fan of the costume on the pose with her saluting. I know it's a pretty standard-looking military outfit, but it doesnt work well on her. I think you should have gone with the kind of look she had in the MK movie; black hat, black tight top, loose black pants. Maybe a little like Linda Hamilton on T2.
- She looks a little cross-eyed on the saluting pose one
- Add the thong next time. Yeah, it doesnt really make sense, but its sorta become a trademark of hers
not your best, but sonya is a pretty dull character herself anyway. 3.5/5

Okay, I want to keep flaming here to a minimum, but I gotta get my two cents in.
I wasn't even on your case. You need to calm down. If it bothers you that much that you don't know why I gave him a 4/5 is because I've seen better from him.
You didn't give constructive criticism. It was a insult. Your opinion, I'm sorry to say, wasn't constructive at all. I didn't give any criticism because none was needed on my part. And I didn't give suggestions because the people before me already said what needed to be said.
I wasnt insulting him. I was asking a question in a slightly negative way b/c i dont like it when i go to gaming forums and see ppl use premade models, slap on premade clothes like theyre playing a damn sims game, and then say its theres.
now that he was kind of enough to take my post in a mature way like i was hoping and answer my questoins, i can understand now how he did it.
sry for being a bitch but i gotta live up to my blonde reputation

I noticed that too and I realized my mistake. All textures come with "bump" maps which imprint tiny details into a surface to give it, well, "texture" and not look like painted statues. I forgot to turn my bump map up. Oh well. And if you want to see how the texture originally looked, here it is:
Sonya face texture
I aim to please....
Edit: I only have about two or three more pics I could post. One is a complete render of Scorpion, the other is an incomplete Quan Chi, and I'm putting the finishing touches up on an "interesting" pic of Li Mei... ... but since I'm here anyway, I was curious if people wanted something specific for any of them? Something challenging? I've read both remarks that people didn't like a pic because it changed the original version and that they didn't like a pic because it was too unique, so I'm aiming for a balance. But, still, any PRE-visualized advice would probably help me make a better pic, rather than going back all the time and retouching my old models.

Well this is nice.
The only thing I don't like about it is how "pretty" it is. Like, have you ever been around someone from the military? They have an almost innate dis-concern for fashion. They're the ones doing all the "dirt" so to speak. That's a "pretty" picture of Sonya. It's a good job, but it's like..."incorrect" for that character so I disagree with it.
I like the middle render the most. The whole pose and costume comes closer to how I see Sonya. The rear render is the least of my likes, I just don't like the close up face back there. And then front one I almost disregard because it's too fashionable. There's a vibe of a 17yr old school girl who happend to wear camo that day.
I think Sonya should dress and feel like "G.I Jane" when she's in her "Official Uniform". Alternate costume would look like Sarah Connor in "Terminator", the first one. And then if we ever see her dressed down, or working out, she could look alot like Hilary Swank, in "The Million Dollar Baby"(scroll down) . That way, she still has a "pretty face", but her personality for what she does shines through.
____________
Your question about Scorpion now. This from an unbiased standpoint because I'm not a Scorpion fan or "hater".
I like the MkD look the most. The complexity of his primary says "bad ass" to me. You did the katana on that Raiden render really well too so I just think that would be a good avenue to go with a Scorpion render.
For the pose, if you wanna go with "action", this is an image I always thought would be could as a Fan Art:
And then there's the thrown spear in really any direction. There's also this type of pose, also from Mk2:
--
To me, Scorpion should reek of a dead person...but walking. So his skin could be really dirty and kinda pale. Some of his muscle definition could even hint "rigor mortis" . At the same time however, he could be burned, or seem like he's sweating. And the last thing for this part, I always wondered what kind of scar he got from when Sub-Zero killed him. That, or, a tear in the clothing somewhere. idk.
Overall though, Scorpion should look sharp and dangerous, and the image should feel "hot as hell". Is that cliche? aheh.
___________________
Quan Chi would be pretty straight foward I think. The bald head, the red tats, the pale skin ect.
Maybe you could do a retro version of him. Like what he looked like before he died and went to the Nether. Not a bad idea for Scorpion either, potential for either a "family portrate...or you could show us what the Shirai Ryu looked like....what about putting Takeda in the back ground somewhere?...
But I'd like to see what you'd make Quan Chis sorcerers staff look like.
_________
Um...I really don't like Li Mei, but you do women renders really well. So I kinda depend on really good Fan Arts to give me insight to why people like her. Meh, I trust your artistic eye on those by now...so surprise us.

This looks beautiful, IMO.
Unlike Pred, my favorite one IS the rear one. I guess I've always wanted Sonya to lean a bit more into the "pretty-girl" image Pred wants her to stay away from so desperately. I think it's very possible for Sonya to keep her "tough" persona and have it shine through while not wearing baggy camouflage pants or blank, vague uniforms. That's the reason I like this render so much, because it gets a step closer to showing that "blend" that I yearn for so much.
Great job, and you get a 4/5 from me for pure effort and for making a Sonya that's close to the one I dream of for the future!
! If I could add anything, I'd add a slightly visible thong (it's become a trademark for her by now), and a more unique outfit.

Dude, I made a 3-D render of one of my future video game characters in one hour.
For some folks it's very easy to make 3-D images from scratch. She might have even done this one a long time ago. The drawings I posted (Tanya and Nightwolf) were drawn about two weeks before I even scanned them.
Anyhoo, if I don't see Sonya wearing that costume in MK8, someone's gonna get fucked up! 5/5

Garlador, what program did you use to make this render? I use Poser 6 for my renders. I submitted them about a half an hour before I posted this relpy or comment. This is an amazing render by the way. 5/5
