So since the show was announced, I had an idea for some characters to be in the show. I only included the people who would be fighting in the tournament:

Scorpion (same as Rebirth)
A Shirai Ryu assassin sent to the tournament to kill off the competition

Baraka (same as Rebirth)
A serial killer driven insane by his failure as a plastic surgeon

Reptile (same as Rebirth)
A mass murderer and cannibal who suffers from a rare genetic disorder

Sub-Zero
A Lin Kuei warrior – a group of assassins who specialize in high-tech weaponry. Sub-Zero's brother was killed by Scorpion. He takes up his brother's codename and gauntlets – specially designed weapons that can freeze his victims solid.

Kitana & Mileena
Twin daughters of a Yakuza crime boss. Mileena was disfigured as a child by one of her father's enemies, and has lived in Kitana's shadow. The sisters were trained to be killers, which caught the eye of Shang Tsung.

Kano
The leader of the Black Dragon, an international terrorist organization who have cells around the globe. He lost his eye in a confrontation with Sonya Blade and had it replaced with a cybernetic one. Kano specializes in knives and has taken an interest in Shang Tsung's tournament.

Kabal
Once a loyal member of the Black Dragon until he turned his back on Kano. Kabal considered himself to be a freedom fighter, until he questioned Kano's motives. Butchered by Shang Tsung's warriors, Kabal enters the tournament to kill the men who cut his throat...

Kenshi
A blind swordsman whose impressive skills have made him a fan favourite in the tournament. His skills are so great, that some believe he made a deal with a Devil after losing his sight.

Kung Lao
A Shaolin monk who belongs to the White Lotus – a super-secret society of Chinese warriors dedicated to protecting the Shaolin's way of life. Granted a special code to “kill if necessary”, Jax hires Kung Lao to keep an eye on Scorpion and ensure Shang Tsung's defeat – and kill Scorpion in the finals.

Jade
Maybe an undercover agent who poses as Shang Tsung's bodyguard or Kung Lao's contact?
