Holy shit.
So does this mean that the Shirai Ryu didn't actually get slaughtered, and it was all a dream or some shit?
Y'know, I was secretly hoping that the visual of the Shirai Ryu getting butchered was some kind of an illusion to provoke either Scorpion or Takeda into doing something. Like, Kittelsen seems to be a capable writer so far, there's no way he'd do something monumentally stupid like wipe out Scorpion's clan for the second time, right?
That might also explain other inconsistencies, like how Fox was able to easily break into the surprisingly unguarded room with the dagger or how Takeda managed to sleep through the mass murder of his entire clan. Whoever "He Who Walks in Silence" is, he's some kind of mindfuck demon. I'd say this probably rules out Kotal for good.
And we finally get a confirmation on the names of the Hanzo's wife and child.
This shit is aces.

I don't think that's where this is going. Fox was the only one who was hearing the demon's voice in his head, which suggests he was the only person it was influencing, not Takeda and Scorpion as well. I think this is just the demon trying to take control of Scorpion also.
As for why Takeda didn't hear anything, well, it's right in the demon's name: "the one who walks in silence."

You can read the text in a spoiler bracket by copy/paste-ing the block into Safari. At least, that's how I have to do it.
It's a pain in the ass on your phone.

I think the Blood Code has something to do with it.
Like, until this thing forced Fox to cut off his face, it could only speak to him in his mind. But afterwards, its true power started to manifest, which appears to be mindfuckery.
Besides, Scorpion is pretty much already a demon as it is. Not sure what use it would be trying to possess him.
I think Rockchalk is on the money: this thing seem to feed on pain and misery, and Scorpion is the walking motherload of that stuff.

He has red eyes because this is an illusion brought about by the demon from the last chapter. He has the same black and red speech bubble, and Scorpion makes this clear. Not exactly a mystery what's going on there.
Raiden said that the demon wants to "disarm" Earth greatest warriors. I presume it first possesses Fox because it was easier to do so and then move on to Scorpion. When Hanzo was Scorpion in the new timeline, he did not care about the Earth getting conquered by Outworld but in the comic as Hanzo, he is one of Earth greatest warriors. Maybe the demon wants to turn Hanzo back into Scorpion so that his allegience to Earth is broken?
Anyway, Scorpion still believes Sub-Zero kills his family though, we can gather that much. Also, Scorpion's wife and child get names.

He also has red eyes when Kano cuts his face in the first issue.

Yeah, but this has nothing to do with that. Sub-Zero, the Lin Kuei, Scorpion's family, etc. are all just an illusion conjured up by the demon. The Lin Kuei also turn into horrifying tentacle people there, but that doesn't mean anything about the real Lin Kuei.

This particularly interests me.
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Could it be the twisted soul of our beloved Shang Tsung? He could have made the venture to the Netherrealm as part of Sindel, then have been expelled from her once they were settled in the Netherrealm. Why he'd be interested in the Shirai Ryu, idk. Just a thought.

@dagger comparison lol.. Yeah one has a loop at the end. Maybe it's different looking according to the realm it's from, kano's looks like the netherrealm one. Maybe the other is the chaos one and it makes fox go nuts.

That might be interesting. What if each weapon has a different symbol on it? Maybe to pay homage to the kamidogus in deception. That would be sweet. I actually like the idea that each kamidogu does something different. I could see the Edenian Kamidogu granting immortality or something.

Hmmm based on that little cameo Sonya's design may have elements based off of her MK4 outfit.

@james
Yup that would be cool and it makes sense. Why give a dagger to scorpion for protection? If it's the chaos one then maybe it's because scorpion can now control his crazy. If you're a demon and you want the dagger then the easiest way would be to manipulate someone into using it. Maybe all he had to do was get fox to touch it and the dagger actually made him cut his face off and kill everyone.

What if Takeda actually kills Scorpion and Demon-Fox absorbs Scorpions powers and face, and transforms into this evil individual?http://i61.tinypic.com/s3px1i.jpg That would explain why Fox has chains in the above picture.

Doubtful.
Someone asked Kittelsen about that artwork and its significance, to which he replied that it was just an "[e]arly Shirai Ryu concept".
With that, I don't think that individual is "Demon-Scorpion-Fox" or whatever.
