Its not in the 11/18 script so all we have to go on is a Sub-Zero / Scorpion backstory -or- they just want an existing location to look like 14th century Japan. I do personally like the Great Kung Lao suggestion.

I mean maybe max has a flashback at some point of the great Kung Lao since Lao is a rectinated from great Kung Lao

That's a nice theory but if it wasn't in the January or September drafts dont count on it. At this point they rarely add scenes and moreso take away if they must. I'm hoping they keep on track and keep everything in and not expect us to infer things if they delete stuff, because so many of these MK fanatics can't infer or even think outside the box and need it all spoonfed to them.

I like it. A bit jazzed up version of MK11's font. The font from the first movie is Trajan which is a commonly used font in the film industry so I'm happy to see a new font, a new logo, for a new movie.

It's Wednesday and this week has been the slowest for any updates, albeit major ones. SiSi released an older training video and the rest of the cast and crew pretty much have been showing photos of their pre-filming and after-filming endeavors.

Greg Russo finally posted on Twitter... but it was about the film, "Turok" he tried to get made into a film so long ago along with concept art.

the turok concept art look cool actually and would be pretty neat to see you can tell greg is a video gamer lover and understands how to a game franchise into a good movie which is i have faith that mortal kombat will be amazing

im tired of the where johnny and kitana post in every greg russo post he makes

FINALLY some life from Greg Russo, this time about MK:

But first... Mehcad Brooks is showing some love for Taslim by watching his latest film, The Night Comes for Us . I have no clue if this film, Wu Assassins, IT, MK11, or any other media this cast and crew has at their disposal is related to this film or not.

BTW - do you think the cast and crew showing off MK11 with game systems were given those in their rooms like they have been flowers and the krew kup and god knows what other goodies they are given? That's one hell of an awesome gift if they can keep them lol.

Greg Russo retweets Sisi Stringer's training video: "Love the arm cross. Classic Mileena right there. ⚔️ (wait til u see the costume) ;) #MortalKombat"
Someone called him out claiming the arm cross wasn't something Mileena done and he used a Wikipedia article. However, the critic was invalidated when he in return presented a Wiki as evidence (the MK Fandom wiki).

Someone else asked about Kitana:

@MehmetxTatlida: What about Kitana?
@WriterRusso: She's my favorite character.

I really believe he's just trolling and avoiding the question. Based on the leaked draft, it is written as a two-parter, like the movie IT, probably why the cast was posting images of them playing around IT murals (aside from the fact it too is a New Line property). Don't keep your hopes up. The draft is dated back to November 2018, they were officially greenlit back in May 2019. While many rewrites to the script can occur, understand that any other act stemming from these rewrites, such as new cast roles and locations, mean more manhours to audition people and scout new locations (essentially they likely used the SA film studios tbh) and may or may not be seen in the final film. The most telling of this would be an actor's contract - if they are expected to reprise their role in a second film it would be stated in a contract with us knowing what we do now (and probably why they went with unknowns - they are much easier to control and do not depend on big agencies or diva behaviors like those seen during the prepro of MKA). I'm not saying anything is final. Just don't get your hopes up either way. I have a feeling the movie will depend on word of mouth by action-fantasy fans and fans of the MK9-MK11 era more so than the die-hard, dedicated MK fans since 1992-1999 (I came in around 1993 I believe) before die-hard fans, especially those making threats about specific characters give it a go. Overall, this film will not be a bomb but whether or not it joins the $100 million dollar club before it becomes famous (like Titantic and pretty much every DCU film to date, except Wonder Woman) will be anyone's guess in 2021. Also, I have no clue what to think about the costume tease. If they go all #MeToo on us like WB did for MK11, don't expect anything like MK(1995) or MKA(1997). I really doubt they will go MK9 for her magneta outfit, although in the 2016 cast leaks she was supposed to wear a one-piece, that was before the #MeToo movement took major rise and when MKX was slowly toning down females).

This is definitely not new news but it best summarizes the questions people have posed about different characters and the like: https://geektyrant.com/news/mortal-kombat-reboot-writer-says-that-what-hes-seen-so-far-is-unreal

Again, please be careful with these online news resources. A lot of them are reporting on news 2 weeks or older That I or someone else posted here 2 weeks ago lol. There are a couple of "logo reveal" that just cropped out the coiled dragon from the clapboard and wrote MK in a shitty font that clearly isn't the actual font being used that we've seen both on the clapboard or krew cup.

As for hints for today, I'm holding off on those for a while. I have too much to post but I also don't want to spoil this or cause too much to be misinterpreted way too early in this process.

Ludi Lin, who plays Liu Kang, is currently in Vancouver, BC, and just posted a press conference video of him speaking to his IG story, which means he is definitely not in Australia filming Mortal Kombat right now, meaning his scenes are not being made right now... not to reveal anything...

You want them to talk about the sacrifices they have to make to win the MK tournament? Can you explain. Are you talking through a translator, is that why there is a lack of punctuation and hint of language barrier?

UPDATE:

Max Huang just posted to his Instagram he just finished "meetings" with Warner Bros. I'm not sure why he's meeting them but he felt it important to post it and tag #mortalkombat. He doesn't appear to speak fluid English so it's been very difficult understanding him, last I knew he flew back to L.A. but then we seen other postings from other locations like New Zealand, (he technically should either still be in L.A. or back in Australia soon).

Ella F., Jessica Namee's trainer, just posted a workout video of Jessica Namee. These girls are definitely not part of the "woke" era lol and it reminds me of the MK3/Conquest era were the females done sexier things, i.e. Kerri Hoskins workout video and the girls' skimpy clothes and slutty behaviors on Conquest.

James Tamlin appears to be showing more footage of his surroundings. I'm guessing they haven't left SA yet or that this location can be reached closeby and if so they will be in the same hotel room the whole time and we may never precisely know where they are filming.
