It gets 30oC and above with a dry heat, so I think given some of the outfits, makeup, etc. they would use a bit of night shooting in locations like that. Also, to get all the scenes done before summer and ground temperatures of 40oC + happen (hence the underground houses)

As Week 5 comes near an end, it appears this location is going to serve as...

Outworld and I originally believed it could have been a desert version of a location that appeared in the 11/18 draft but never in any games. It's still early so it could double for multiple locations. Given that they did fight training already, it would appear these are filmed in order of 1) location and 2) fights, suggesting they are all over the place and may have even filmed ending sequences. It makes sense to get the heavier stuff like the fights done in case an actor becomes injured later on since as we know from MK(1995) injuries = replaced.

Yes the 1995 film showed Outworld as a barren wasteland.

So as of today both Lewis Tan and Todd Gardner have said they are done with Coober Pedy, which means the week went on schedule. A week isn't enough time to film fight scenes but I do know that

Tan, Namee, Taslim, and Lin were all four at this location. Update: Raiden was too.

Unfortunately, as we seen no new cast members, it's hard to say what was filmed. There was footage of aerial drones in flight and these characters do meet at some point in the film and if it's the new location not in the game, it should have been a week as it was, but I did not recall Sub-Zero being involved. Then again I'm holding off on reviewing the 11/18 draft again so it surprises me at this point. We should have heard something from SiSi, Lawson, Chin Hang, Max Huang, and a new kombatant, but again they are being very tight-lipped "stitch-lipped" about this film so it's anybodys guess. I still think they filmed some exteriors of Outworld and the entire scenes at the new location, at least some exteriors, and walkabouts in the interior, but at this point I am clueless. Then again this could be a new location added since the 11/18 draft and that's not entirely unlikely.

More cast and crew videos and cast photos released, nothing new. Greg Russo is now claiming The Night Comes for Us on Netflix helped to inspire Mortal Kombat which likely eludes to that film's gore and martial arts action since that film's story kinda sucked. But if you want to check out yet another movie the cast/crew are touting, it's on Netflix.

Fans are still trying to push the Johnny Cage tiresome chant/banter or some other character who is very unlikely to appear in this film... although, as I said before, you could see characters from other games make a cameo, but that's about it, nothing more than a scene here or there and not necessarily fan-favorites either, just the ones who make better for a horror film... and the 11/18 draft did not mention any horror icon as a character but only descriptions for MK fighters. Aside from ass-kissing the cast and crew or asking the same repetitive questions (at least we've moved from the "it better have he or she in it or it will suck" crowd) fans are interested in seeing the cast in costumes from the film. I gotta love the "OMG I love that a superfan is working on this film" shiteating line to Greg Russo, I mean, c'mon, he appears to have some leeway but at the end of the day the director and producers and studio are in charge and everything will be lead to the remaining producers, the editor, and the studio once the production has been completed. If I recall Kevin T. was also a huge "fan" or "nerd" of Mortal Kombat and gave us that shitstorm web series called Legacy. I mean... even MKA was better than that. But at least Legacy was better than FOMA, OMG that is shitacular in MK fandom.

Here is a small collection of photos I have gathered: Note that the chain around Jessica Namee may actually be a movie prop, I can't see the bottom of it but chain necklaces do have a meaning in this film...

According to Lewis Tan they are headed back to Adaleide (sic) but no specifics.

I like what we are getting. It's a tease.

No other film would do this - the most you'd see is some insta- tweets from filming when the film is in post-production.

They are giving enough without going over. Gives them freedom in case there are later changes, etc. in look, design, etc.

Problem is - much like DLC - people want everything now. People feel they are entitled to everything now (or entitled to "more"). The legacy of Generation Me. The film is what - 16 months away? I think SDCC next year is when they will start leaking costume looks, environment looks, trailers, etc.

No other film has the history and development hell as this one, or an entire franchise based off of convoluted timelines and stories that seek to justify the designer's fuckups in the next one, or a long history of failed cross-over media with the only one faring the best of the 1995 lackluster film, then in some ways Conquest and DOTR while also trying to bury TLT, FOMA, and in some ways, Legacy.

I mean, we are in production, but we don't know, officially, a synopsis or even a budget. It's so bad Mehcad Brooks plead to the fans to have an open mind and many of the past leaks have turned out true in many ways, even from little I can tell, so I'm not sure anymore how much they are trolling us. I do fill in a sense we are slowly being secretly introduced to the other kombatants who haven't been named but they are not putting an official face to anyone yet. Even IT2 had leaks, not really revealing, but cool. We have seen weapons as Tan as autographed a few swords and we have seen old training videos that show the cast failing hard and even almost being injured.

Today we are treated to more cast photos. Rayden's back in the picture -this means they are filming in the middle to the end of the film and at some point we should be seeing Max. There are a couple of new people who may or may not be attached - we won't know for sure until more information is dropped.

Thanks for the update.

I noticed the Rayden guy called Joe Taslim "Bi-Han". Sub-Zero did NOT go by any other name than Sub-Zero in the 11/18 draft. They likely got this name because it seems some of the cast members have game systems playing MK11.

With that said, here are some more cast photos I have been forgetting to post...

It's early but we are getting posts from Chin Han (Shang Tsung), SiSi Stringer (Mileena), Taslim (a video in the makeup trailer), and Tan (Unknown) with older photos. I can't tell if Mehcad Brooks is geotagging old posts from Los Angeles or if SiSi Stringer is still posting older posts like she does, in this case teaching Mehcad Aussie English. Meanwhile, Liu Kang is releasing a kicking Mondays video.

Notice Tan released this latest article from the Advertiser that confirms Leigh Creek has another location.Taslim

Was a coal mine town. The coal mine has shut up and it's now a renewables energy centre - the population is tiny hence it working as a film locale :)

Sounds like they're getting some of the middle and end of the film. They got 2 months to go so that's about right and enough time to get this good stuff.
