1. I'd say, go get the same guy who directed the first MK, and give him more money to network with...

Either that, or seek the directors of other successful "video game movies". Emphasis on martial arts and special effects for MK.

What other (at least decent) video game, turned movies do we got?:

a. Doom
b. Silent Hill
c. Resident Evil (1-3 now)
d. Tomb Raider (1-2)

Of course there are others, but I'm trying to just list the most successful. Sorry if I missed any.

2. Now, script-wise, I think it should be minimal anyway. Since most fighters aren't good talkers(the movie "Blade" anyone?).

To add to that, I think that chunks of information should only be "actually spoken" by certain characters. Like, Sonya or Jax, because as military, a key ingredient in a successful operation, is intel//communication. They should be the ones "actually talking" alot. The people who fill these rolls should be "the most recognizable", or the better actual "actors//actresses" on the screen.

Doesn't say "nobody else can talk", just that better actors than fighters should fill those positions. And to me, that makes logical sense anyway, cuz they're not the main characters of the series anyway. Imagine loosing one of them? I think it would be interesting to see what happens to the movie when there's no-one there to tell us anything...

I think that "incidents" should explain more than talking for most of a Mortal Kombat movie. Leaving short thought processes to the pro, and antagonists.

3. Another thing, I really don't like B rated movies. I mean, there's only maybe a handful of them I can just tolerate, but I really don't like B rated. I think it contradicts the video gaming industry if it is done this way. Say that because, you figure with all the time the gaming industry spends on mo-cap, cg, and animation to make their games, there should be no excuse for an under-level presentation. I think it represents them poorly in the first place.

That, with understanding that both industries don't translate seamlessly just yet.

What are your thoughts?

A link I thought I should add.

You know atleast one thing about paul anderson movies is that they are watchable unless some of other movie directors.Although you won't see Paul Anderson direct another mk film cause he as said in the past that he doesn't want to.

I never did like the spider man movies that much but I would have faith in sam rami only cause hes usually pretty good at staying true to the material that the story and stuff is based off of.But I got no other idea then that.

-Oh my fault. I didn't look up the numbers on BloodRayne first. I assumed it did alright because it spawned a sequel. I see now that budget-wise, it failed terribly. Budget: approx 25mil, turn over: less than 5mil.

I'll replace that one with Tomb Raider.

--About the cast of MkC, I don't agree entirely. I didn't like most of them actually. Although I did like the series(alot) as it was put together. Like saying, "Everybody fit for what it was trying to do". But in my opinion, it wasn't trying to do much.

Hmm, the overall vibe I got off the series, is that "This is just a nice payday for me", from each of the actors//actresses. Seemed very robotic alot of the times. Choreography definitely stood out, but the dialog and the acting was very generic to me. Even for it being ten years old now.

Again, I kind of attribute that to the fact that I don't really like anything B rated, and that's exactly what the series felt like. "A good series, but B rated". I feel like worse t.v. series' are produced better.

That is also just your personal opinion, and thankfully, it is not shared by anyone in Hollywood.
The production of MKC just wasn't nearly professional enough for a successful Hollywood movie- And THAT's the full stop. You want to see an MK movie with the exact same music production used for MKC? That would instantly kill the film.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE the music in MKC, but it's just a guy with a keyboard and a couple of instruments. The tunes are beautiful, but with MKC's production? No way in hell.

There were also tons of mistakes and just plain crap in MKC. I loved the show, but it really was a B show, with an incredibly low budget. There's really no way around it.

if the producers will give more money to mk devastation team than they gave to conquest the result will be way better...cristopher slohan(i think he was the music composer of conquest and defenders) had just two instruments for budgets reasons... not everyone with that ridicoulus poor budget would manage to make decent music man.

and the fighting scenes coregrapher was great!
the stunts, the moves...it was spectacular and looked pretty realistical.
I loved how that show turned great with 2 $ and a lot of good ideas(used also in mk canonical storyline).

Alright. What about rating a new movie?

There are certainly pros and cons to each. So, what's your perspective on rating?

Personally, I think it's just common sense for this movie to be rated R. I understand that the fan base is vast. But at the same time, I think that if it was rated R, it would add to the exclusivity to the series again.

It'd also allow them to stay truer to the nature of the games. Show more brutality, and violence, and blood. We can get more "Rated Mature" dialog, and action sequences.

Then, I guess there's the question of sex in the movie. To this I say Hell No. Beyond shit like a simple and brief kissing scene, and maybe some provocative costumes, I would wanna see anything "sexual" in the movie.

This movie should be rated R because it's brutally violent. Fights are bloody and graphic or whatever.

I want an adult movie made, but i know it can't happen because the old cartoon/tv show conquest and movies were aimed to kids and little fucktards.

Lol! Fucktards? ( I've heard that before, it's just funny again for some reason..)

But what about redemption? Certainly it is possible now...it's been almost 10 years since the last filmed media was released from Mortal Kombat(MKC).

I mean of course I agree on wanting a movie that is "mature" from MK, but the top three best selling video game movies are either rated PG13 or G. Top five would barely include the rating R (for Resident Evil: Apocalypse) according to the link in my starter post.

Roll the dice on MK making the jump to Rated R?
