Alot of people don't know and don't care about Mortal kombat, meaning that many theaters will not put Mortal kombat in their schreen.....do you think it is going to be a flop or a box office success.........I think it will do a little bit......good....

IMO, it may be well... another flop, but hopefully better than MK:Annihilation.

If Threshold doesn't start trying to make movies, it will fair well in the first few days and then fall.

If they put more effort in this movie than they did with MK1, then it will do great.
It would be good if the movie could be Matrix quality.

It'll be hard for something that'll never exist to flop.

MK3 Will NEVER come out. Ever. Not gonna happen. There just isn't enough support for the MK movie franchise.

Thats a good question, but first it has to reach the movies, cuz you never know MK3 could go straight to DVD.
If it does get to the big screen it depends on a couple of things, first it must be faithful to the fans and contain mass amounts of gore with an R rating and a great story...
wait im wrong it just needs to appeal to little kiddies, so as far away from the MK universe as possible will make it a success, commercially.

So true.
If MK3 does come out, it'll flop I'm sure. MKA had the first movie to back it up, and the fact that MK had just come out of it's peak of popularity, but there's really no reason for most people to go see the movie.

I dont agree with that at all.
MK3 doesnt need hype and momentem to make it a success. It has already established that throughout the years its been in the industry, with the controversy it caused, millions of copies sold ect.
There are many movies that come out without any hype or pre-manufactured momentum that can cause it to be a commercial success even though the movie itself could be poor. Take Wolf Creek for example, that become a commerical success out of no were from my own country Australia and it had nothing real special about it, a slasher horror flick based on a true story is the only decent asset it had.
The MK franchise has its audience, and in this day and age, a movie can be successful at the box office without anyone ever even knowing about it.

Yeah, all it needs is a good ad campaign to generate inintial interest. Then hopefully the movie will be good enough (I hope at least for MK1 standard, the actors have said the script is good) at which point word of mouth spreads, as do the reviews and voila - box office success.
If the advertising is good I bet many people who used to play the classics like MK1, 2 and 3 and maybe who saw the first movie, who then forgot about the series when MK4 and MKA came out, will be like "man, Mortal Kombat, that takes me back..." All the good memories of playing MK2 come flooding back and then they go and see the movie. You can never underestimate nostalgia.
I just really think MK: Devestation needs the blood and violence of the games. They should market to the adult audience, those that played the original games in the arcades back in the mid-90's, who are in their 20's-30's now.

This movie will do fantasic....IFfffffff:
1. Campaign and Advertising is more beefed up.
Look at movies like Underworld 1&2. The ads for those movies were capturing.
So much so that I went and seen 'em and things like nostalgia wasn't even an issues at least the first one. I knew of no book preceeding these movies. It just look good in the previews, and ya know what? I took my girl, three male friends, and their counter parts. Where I'm at that's about a 90$-120$ visit for those who want to consider the "money talks" approach. Now multiply me and my experience on a movie we only saw vamps and w.wolves in * the latest fly by fans. This is only based on initial presentation......
2. They put the game in the movie already!!
After they get us there, keep us there. Listen--IF YOU SACRIFICE THE FANS- YOU KILL WORD OF MOUTH!! Not so much as we fans don't talk about the movie at all. More that we spread hatred for the lack of correspondence between the game-in-movie relationship. I know you've said or heard this about a sucky movie:
" That shit was garbage!! The story was fucked up, it had nothing to do with the book/game/true story(based on a true story). You could see how they did the special effects/the fight scenes were wakk. Blah, Blah, Blaaaaaah"
Blood and gore IS IN THE GAME. Again, look at Underworld 1&2 blood & gore didn't stop box office sales--at all. Everything was right!! Do it to MKDevastation and they will succeed. I know this, it's the same kind of movie we are asking for. Just subtract the vamps and shit and add the MK story and some precist martial arts.
Now, before I start, let's calm down and think logiclly for a sec. .....Hmmm ......O.k., if the first two movies didn't do as well as expected and, in fact declined from FAN dissapointment and morale, Why not say fuck it and do the R rated (at least damn near R rated) movie??
Why not put in there what got the game famous in the first place, finally? At least the game and movie would match up for a change. Sheesh!!
If they need statistics: We told you with the first two, espeacially the second MK movie, that it wasn't right. Now DO IT RIGHT ALREADY!!
You don't order a Lobster and get a damn Crab leg. Give us Blood!! In the movie though.
3. I know, I know.
What do I know right? I know you gotta spend money to make money...and that's what it's going to take to make the movie good. So DO IT!! Writers/directors/ other staff/actors and actresses/producers/resources/sponsers/shit space and time. The list goes on and on. Give 'em the incentive to make us pay you. Some more.
It ain't like they don't got it, it's been what?, almost 10 yrs since the last movie. And they made the first two movies before the 4th? game, right??
O.k. now, look at the time that has passed and games released in that time,.... money accumulated and no other movies?? Curious right? Nope, not to me. They lost money on the last movie and recouped on the following couple of games and now...it's purely a question of "We don't wanna because..." If they don't do another movie. Or, "We will because..." If they do.
This could also attribute to those bastard couple of games we all want to foreget. MKSF&MK4, lightly I say MKMythologies.
Anyway what do I know, I know that everything is in tact except probably legalities.
a. Story--hands down nobody contests this.
b. History--hands down. It's proven the test of time needed to create notarity, nostalgia, obviously a strong following.
c. Money--they got the $$ to do it right and make money in the process. No excusses.
d. Martial artists/Actors and Actresses to pull it off.
e. Computer graphics and all that relate--THEY DO VIDEO GAMES!! They can figure something out.
These are all fragments to the big IF when I started writing. But it's all there. Here's a hint----De frag. Heh...heh
If I foregot anything remind me, but I'm sure with some effort it could be taken care of. Get it done.Besides all this, the next gen video game follow up would be crazy successful.

lol! I remember watching the news and how they were surprised that MK:A had second highest ticket sales that first weekend it was out. The following week it wasn't even on the list. Guess everyone who was hoping for something like the first movie caught the first showings and was so disappointed warned everyone on how bad it was.
As for the third MK movie making good at the box office depends on the movie itself and how they advertise. Not to mention who is playing in it. If big names like Christopher Lambert's appear on the opening credits even non-Mortal Kombat fans will buy a ticket only to see what mess the 'Highlander' got himself into this time. Not to mention if the movie is good enough the word will spread and in the current superhero movie climate (spiderman, superman, etc) it might actually be easier for a Mortal Kombat movie to make it than it did for the first one. Especially considering some people were still weiry (sp?) of a video game movie with that Street Fighter II movie showing previously...can't believe I actually paid money to see that one...and the Double Dragon movie as well *sigh*

Thank you!!
Not even speculation on most parts.
Get the right director in there and get 'er done.
"Fatality" the other game based movies already.
