MK11 has hot chicks. Granted, I don’t love that the men are all bare-chested and the women so far have been so covered, but let’s wait to see before we judge. At the very least, the women’s faces look gorgeous and expressive and they kick ass. That’s what I care about. Do the characters look like their fun to use? This is the issue for me, not “how much skin does this collection of polygons show” or “how mad does the internet tell me I should I be about social justice and feminism?”

I don’t personally need characters to be overtly sexual unless they’re engaging in some sort of story romance and even then it’s debatable. I get that it’s a game, of course, but in what other circumstance, where people are fighting for the fate of the world, would people say “ah yes, but is she showing enough side boob? How is her cleavage? Does she seem like she gets off on fighting?”

I dunno, that shit seems super 90’s to me, and saying that’s how it was before does nothing to change that fact. Just let them look like fighters and if they have romance in the story, so be it. If they dress like MMA, so be it, but shoe-horning some sort of provocative nature in to the game just because one entry decided to go that route makes zero sense to me. Let the devs do what they want. Take whatever feedback they want. Everything else is just fans trying to force their agenda on the devs and I’m not for that.

Bigger boobs does not automatically make someone sexier / less ugly. In fact, boobs are actually less attractive if they're too big / look fake. But considering the person in the YT video you linked.... I guess they're into fakery. Each to their own but it's far from objectively uglier to be natural.

To me and many others, the MKX characters and costumes look way better than MK(2011) and even Mileena's least revealing outfit is more attractive / appealing than the MK(2011) bathing suit.

I know I've been seen saying "there are tiers" regarding unlocking fatalities and to not worry about how lame/awesome one of potentially 6 or more fatalities are. The same COULD be said about the costumes and it will definitely be true for the guys here, but knowing the agenda of the art team (or whatever), I can see worries about lack of variety as a legit thing.

How much armor can you pile onto someone before it just becomes a joke? How many variations on an armored up woman (or MAN for that matter) can you do?

I like the idea of all the guys having a shirtless option because as a guy, I prefer to be fucking nude out here. Bare chest at home and in public. My intent is never to sexualize my image, but do women rubberneck while driving by (even with their guy)? Sometimes, yes.

I see women who rock some fly shit that I think is sexy where they clearly have no intent to sexualize themselves. The confidence they felt while wearing what they wore is what mattered to them in that moment. Even if they didn't feel confident and wore something godawful, I'd be able to see something worth ogling and many a man can say the same.

Tl;dr: No one has to dress "sexy" to be sexualized and that's something everyone could stand to think about before deciding to shit on the idea that maybe, just maybe, someone other than grandma Sonya could stand to show some midriff.

Edit: I feel the title of this thread and the way Steve Beran referred to the costume design/attitude towards any potential protest is what's hurting the ability to converse here. Sexualization isn't MY desire nor should it be for anyone. MK9 had awful exploitative costumes, yes. Things got better in Injustice and MKX, but putting everyone with tits in full body armor fucked the "individuality" game up. If Mileena is somehow put into the roster, I can't even imagine how she would look.

Slight derailment: What I liked about Street Fighter V is the large variety of costumes, both cool and dumb. (I didn't like how to unlock some of them though) Like Flavor Flav Ryu and Hot Ryu.

Variety aside, exploitation aside, the art direction would then have us forcefully change an aspect of a character's own personality through dress. It already has us ignoring the lore of Skarlet.

TL;DR, since that seems to be the prior case: I'm not being overdramatic. Based on statements made by a lead artist on the game and in-game examples of extreme body coverage consistent across all HUMAN-LIKE, NON-GOD, NOT SONYA characters (EXCLUDING THE MALES), regardless of personality/origin/lore and/or logic, no I literally have no idea where Mileena's character design would go and you're fighting me based on a stance I never took.

There was nothing wrong with the faces of the female cast in Injustice 2. They looked great. The whole NRS can not do female faces is old news. As for MK11 I am pretty sure they scanned people's faces into the game. We know that is the case for Sub-Zero. Whether that is the case for all the characters I am not sure.

It is interesting you chose the character art/renders for MK9’s characters and not their in-game models with that picture. The MK9 faces were terrible...Kitana looked like Michael Jackson with that nose of hers.

Midway / NRS have had horrible looking in-game faces for the woman all the way up until MKX.

Pretty sure Sonya's face has been updated since that pic was taken and looks much better now. Either way... she looks her age. Isn't she pushing 50 now?

Kitana's face has never looked better so I don't know why you're listing her as "uglyfication".

Jade's face is looking amazing in MK11 too... never been better! But you seem to have found a poor-quality screenshot of her mid-sentence and mid-blink to try and make her look worse than she is.

As for Skarlet.... yeah that hat sucks... and the long hair they gave her to replace the pixie cut sucks too. Wish they kept the pixie... that was sexy! Give Skarlet the pixie back, ditch the hats, and make her more ginge and she'd be almost perfect!

Mileena liked to dress provocatively to distract people away from her "ugly" (tarkatan) features. However, in MKX she has matured a lot - especially with becoming a Kahn/Queen, and found people who are willing to accept her the way she is. She even has several implied lovers.

Her MKX costumes reflect this character arc very well. She still has a mask and covers her face with her hair.... but as the leader of a rebellion and potential future Khanate... she's dressing more modestly and less eye-catching. It's hard to blend in / stay hidden when you're dressed to be the center of attention.

Her skimpy outfit made sense in MK(2011), but not in MKX.
